Was great to see Joel play so well yesterday, following up from his great game over West last week.

I shall be at the Gabba next Saturday night, and very much looking forward to Joel letting the Lions know what a dumb move it was to let him go!

Up and running, this guy really is a class act off the half back line. He's tough, relentless and uncompromising.

Great article about him today on the FC website, too. The guy is very happy to be a Dee.

Unlike some other posters over the past few months, I think this guy was an excellent pickup in the pre-season.

Looking forward to bellowing out the "Grand Old Flag" around 9:30pm next Saturday night from high up in Section 66 of the Gabba!

Go Dees!

Couldnt agree more

Watched hinm play in the pre-seaseon practice matches anmd have been a fan ever since. backhimself always!

Adds a hardness to the ball that has been lacking amongst the team for some time: at his best a damaging player

There is a little Dane Swan to his style IMO

Yes, incredibly hard at the ball, but can cost easy goals. Still, like you, I'm a fan and he has the nastiness to really shake a few players. He reminds me of 'Filthy' Phil Read who played several damaging games of footy for the Club. Opposing players were very, very wary of this bloke and I think that Joel has forged this reputation for himself now.

Phil Read was an overblown pest wrongly viewed as a "tough" guy who was slow with poor disposal and decision making. Rarely hurt oppositions with or without the ball.Perennial let down. I trust JoelMac has higher ambitions than Read.

Edit: Just saw Nasher's thread. I agree but its an overstatement even calling Read a thug.

Joel is one of the few defenders who goes for marks when he probably should spoil, he takes the game on and plays taller and stronger than he looks.

His use of the body in the game against White a couple of times was sublime.

He can give away some errors, but so does everyone. I am willing to see his few mistakes if he sets up and stops as many goals as he has recently.

He should definitely stay in the team, and I think he is probably the 3rd in when taller players are picked in the defense, behind Frawley and Garland. I know the coaching staff probably have Rivers higher (who is also playing well), but MacDonald is more attacking, which we need.

Joel Mac was a great pick up for us. If we didn't pick him, another AFL club would've.

Still surprised Voss de-listed him to be honest - I hope he regrets it even more after this weekend.

Voss' worst decision was to get Fevola. Close behind was delisting Joel Mac. Then daylight.

He's a great player, 'nuff said.

I thought Joel played a pretty good game in front of Michael Voss watching in the stands.I'm amazed how good Joel is overhead,he takes marks when you're hoping for a good spoil and outreads his opponent time and again. He's a great pick up.Voss, what were you thinking???

But then again,Fevola for Bradshaw,Henderson and pick 12!!!

Was great to be in the stands last night and watch Joel strut his stuff against his old side, at their fortress. Thought he played well, once again, and I was really happy for him. To be told at the end of last season that he wasn't part of Brisbane's finals campaign, and then to be part of such an exciting, young outfit, while his old mob self-destruct, would think he might be feeling justice is being done.

And, really impressed to see his attitude as expressed in the article about him on the MFC website this morning:

"JOEL Macdonald says he took greater delight from winning on the road, as opposed to the Demons beating his former side"

He says he's moved on, and now he's a Dee!

Love the guy!

Go Dees!

Good attitude. Was filthy on himself when Proud got that mark.

He got votes from the Sunday Footy Show team.

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
