Warnock

I am glad to see that Warnock was named BOG for Casey this week. Personally I think he is important in our back setup. One of the quickest full backs I have seen, and verygood defensively for our side. Can't really understand why he was dropped unless team orders or something like that. Given Rivers new two year contract is M Warnock now trade bait. If so, I think that would be a big mistake.

Ive always liked Warnock, he is a good stopper who often plays above his natural size.

However he does have flaws when it comes to our other KPB, mainly the fact that he is not very damaging with the ball in his hands (Garland and Frawley are).

In my opinion he and Rivers are on a pretty level playing field but Rivers is younger which is another negative for Warnock.

He will definately be retained on the list as he deserves to be at the MFC for a few more years. But I think slowly but surely he will be chosen in the 1st's less and less.

Currently I rate these guys ahead of him for the backline bigger guys...

Frawley

Garland

Rivers

Macdonald (only because I liked his game on the weekend)

MacDonald is a stop gap until the kids develop.

Not a long-term prospect.

Very true.

Anyone who attended the draft event will tell you that Predergast made it absolutely clear that Joel MacDonald was an insurance policy in case Garland never recovered

Warnock has the potential to be a great full back for the MFC, but needs to really smarten up on his disposal. He turns it over far too much.

His spoiling efforts are excellent, and I think he can play a huge part if or push for top 4, if he gets the above sorted.

Agreed.... However Warnock is not a long term prospect either.

Both Warnock and Macdonald are now 26 years of age.

I think people forget that when they talk of Warnocks "potential".

He deserves to be in the team right now but is not going to get much better.

What you see is what you get.

So do I- IMO he also should gain a two year contract.

26?? Done and dusted ?? the name Fletcher mean anything ?? lol

I would expect thered be still 4-5 years in them barring bad injuries. It does however raise the question of where the club is thinking. Warnock I would think is the 'nomiated' FB but with the nature of fluid match ups he may not take the FF on some days. He is however capable of that position. JR is a bit lost in that role more suited to teh 3rd tall defender gig.

So youd think then on a normal day Warnock Frawley and Garland would pick themsleves... it then Rivers and MacDonald who either provide choice ( height v opposition ) or insurance I would think

FBs can play well into their 30's, and given Warnock was a late bloomer, it wouldn't surprise me if he does.

He is definitely in my best 22 and eventual premiership team. He doesn't need to be a good user of the ball because he won't ever be a rebounding defender. That job can be left up to the likes of Chip, Garland, Grimes etc

For me, it's Warnock over MacDonald, Cheney and Rivers.

They dont look to be retiring Scarlett (31) any moment soon !! lol... Strangely a similar build to Warnock !! how about that !! lol...if --only :)

Warnock is not particularly big...

Warnock does not have extremely long arms....

Warnock does not read the play better than anyone else.....

Warnock is not Dustin Fletcher......

Warnock is definately not Scarlett.......

I have stated that yes, he will play, definately, because he is a great option at this current point in time.

However surely we can admit that Frawley and Garland are ahead of him.

Plus to me it is clear that Bailey loves Jared Rivers and his leadership.

I am not bagging Warnock, I am simply saying that in time, he will be removed from the 22 on a consistent basis (which is already happening).

I predict a 2 year deal, with the same solid output we have been getting.

However I am of the opinion he will not be playing FB at the MFC in the long term.

Warnock - 194cm 95kg

Scarlett - 192cm 94kg

now Warnock is no Scarlett... but he is actually bigger

If not...then who ??? FB's dot grow on trees..and they take a little while to come on !

When we were playing well early in the year, Warnock was an integral part.

He got beaten badly a couple of times recently and i reckon was sent back to Casey to get his confidence back and work on some particular aspect of his game.

I reckon Bailey is very much aware of Warnock's value and his ability to play on the monster forwards, thus freeing up Frawley and Garland to play on the next two forwards and use their running ability.

Make no mistake, he is big, strong, valuable and vital to moving forward.

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan.
