ROBBED.

twice in the year against the filth. impressive effort by the maggots.

robbed?

We were lucky not to lose by 10 goals.

Today's lesson is once again, play like crap at the start of the game and you will lose. Poor first quarters are killing us and frankly they are becoming a bit of a joke. We were lucky to get 2 points.

question - (not that it makes much of a difference given the filth had more opps than us) - Clokes kick on goal after the siren at quarter time was touched by a demon before going through...... if after the siren goes, shouldn't the play be stopped as soon as it is touched, and not counted as a rushed behind as it was?

Nope, the ball must come to complete stop.

When the finish is so close, things in the last few minutes are often argued over as the reason we won/lost/drew. I think we need to go to the other end of the game and remember the slow start - ANOTHER slow start. The start of games is an area we have consistently been poor at this year. Needs attention.

massive face palm at Warnocks kick in the end.

I was yelling out saying kick long to the boundary, why not make it a contest then hopefully we mark it or spills over the line for a throw in.. why accurate cute kick it that close to try and maintain possession...

And I don't care what anyone says, Jack Watts had a terrible game. He looks absolutley lost out there, and that showed when he picked up the footy and literally WALKED into a Collingwood player to get tackled and payed holding the ball, which resulted in a Collingwood goal.

Where the hell is our Justice? I wanted a repeat of Port Adelaide game in the end. sigh face

Absolutely shattered but we took 2 points off the Pies which is a loss for them in the context of the top 4.We should have been 6 goals down at the 20 minute mark,so we were pretty lucky to be still in it at 1/4 time.Morton had a bounce and was caught on 3 occasions,he has no awareness.Great game by Beamer and Jones shut down Swan and played well offensively.

The bottom line is we don't have a functioning forward line and with Jurrah,Wonna,Petterd and Sylvia back we'll smash the Pies next year.

watts lack of awareness is a huge, huge concern.

Watts is playing like a young key position player in his eighth game. Oh hang on a sec that's what he is. Did some good things did some poor. Needs to learn to give off as he cant dance tackles like in the U18s. The rest will do him good then back to Casey to work on developing his game.

Disagree. Thought he was very serviceable. Plenty of blokes made errors today. His field kicking was generally very good and moved well into his marks today.

I dont understand how people can be shattered. Bad kicking, Moloney and our stellar defence kept us in the game. We should have lost by 5-7 goals. Our intensity first qtr aside was good. Can someone explain whether this playing with no one inside 50 assist us against Collingwood today or harmed our chances of kicking a decent score?

obviously disappointing not to get the win, but we were outplayed for most of the game today, so in the cold light of day to come away with 2 points is a good result...

what cost us the win:

1. Our terrible start, 3rd week in a row

2. Lack of confidence when the game was on the line / lack of legs.

On the second point, it was hard for me to say given I was watching it from Perth, but I think when Jetta and Warnock both went down the line from the back pocket, when all day we'd been looking for the switch. Either neither of them had the confidence to switch the footy in the tight circumstances, or their teammates weren't working hard enough to present an option on the switch... Either way, it was disappointing...

Qtr time 12 points down, very lucky. If we play better we may do ok.

Rivers not good enough to play on key forwards.

Trengrove trying hard.

Jones Trying hard.

Davey playing on at all costs.

No fwd structure at this stage.

Dunn looks lost up the ground. Should he be closer to goal??????

What are you talking about, Rivers did a great job today

Agreed.

Look at the tackle count, and that should tell you everything you need to know about how lucky we were to get some points out of that match.

We were horrible in the first quarter, and are lucky to be blessed with a wonderful backline, and a great ruckman, or we would have lost by 100.

Definitely nowhere near good enough today to actually feel shattered about a loss.

Am I the only person who's happy with this result? It's a win for us because the pies are rated so much more highly than us, so that's a good thing. It was a great game with two teams throwing everything at each other, and if you take off the eye patch you can see that neither side deserved a loss, so that's a good thing. We saw Jamar not just win but DOMINATE the opposition ruck brigade to the extent that he had 50% more hitouts than their entire team plus a massive PB on disposals and a goal. Moloney likewise had a huge day. Our stoppers were all great and only one of their guns did anything noteworthy. HOnestly, I can't see any negatives here. A great day for our team.

I'd take Collingwood's most dangerous and creative player out. Great news! I'll puke though if Dick kicks 5 goals again like he did last year.

Watch the first quarter again. Rivers towelled by Cloke.

That kick to Lynden Dunn in the third quarter was a beauty. Just sailed high enough to get over the Collingwood player.

Boys against men. We won the hard ball and our endeavour was superb. Jamar, Moloney, Bartram, Chip, Davey, Bate, Grimes, Garland sensational.

Really, I think it assisted us. That's our style so why not live and die by it. Green did play pretty deep for most of the game. Dunn as well. You should note that the more the game flows the more we keep forwards at home. When the game stagnates we throw men back and attempt to kick over the zone.

Exactly.

Stacks of positives from a young side.

The boys were very lucky to grind out a draw, but it should give them some confidence knowing they can hang in there when they are clearly being beaten around the ground.

I have been sceptical about Morton, but this week he made me a believer, hopefully he can keep that level of play going.

It assists us with the midfield play while were young & developing, but the down side is it slows our transfer of the ball forward. When we start becoming more reliable through the middle on attack, our forwards will start to trust their instincts of where & when to run & it'll start to look a million gold ingots.

Don't worry, we aint goin' anywhere this year (up or down) but improving "outa sight".

Jaded, take a powder and some deep breaths, then watch the replay. Our blokes stood up from the 15 min mark of the 1st quarter on. If we had got equal rights from the blokes in yellow we would have won! Name the player in Red & Blue that you weren't proud of. They were influenced by the spirit of 1960 and they were playing for the Pres!!!!!!!

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
