What we need?

I think we only need to get one type of players at the end of the year and get Travis Boak from Port into your midfield.

I think we need to go into the draft and try and get a really good key forward maybe even two I we really lack someone in your forward line who can take a really good mark.

We have used:

Micheal Newton: hasn't done anything

Brad Miller: I think he is as bad as Newton

Jack Watts: Is still developing and is going to make mistakes I would keep playing him.

Daniel Hughes: Not up to it.

I know we have Liam to come back and he and Jack will go well together but I think we really need someone else who will be big and strong in your forward line. Maybe will should get someone from the VFL or somewhere else who we have sudden impact.

I also think we should really go for Boak. He is going to be a superstar. He wants to come back to Melbourne and I think he would be one of the greatest trade if we get him. I watched todays game and he was the best player for Port and he is having a great year.

I think if we et both of these we are going to have a great all round team.

i dont agree with brad miller being as bad as newton.

miller can kick a few goals here and there newton cant.

i think hughes can be a good player if he is given more of an opportunity just like watts he is still developing just at an older age

i do agree with the watts bit though

If we go after a established midfielder, then we should go all out to get Dangerfield, & bring him back to Melbourne.

If you watch any footy you would know that Dangerfield plays in the forward line and hardly ever plays in the midfield so I wouldn't even call him a established midfielder compared to Boak who has played his whole career in the midfield and is now a really good and established midfielder.

Hughes only played two games and they were quite good. Showed some real potential. Should be in the side ahead of Watts so that was very harsh on him. Newton will be gone at the end of the year as will Miller i suspect so we definately need to draft a Key forward

i would actually prefer either Dave Mckay or Richard Douglas. Both are elite users of the ball.

McKay is a dime a dozen outside midfield, who amazingly, Melbourne have none of! I'd like him but Dangerfield has much more to offer. Douglas is a good player, but a half forward/midfielder probably no better than Sylvia and Jetta with a touch more development.

We need Time for our side to develop and our young players to become Men.

Imagine the improvement and growth from our youngsters over the next 2-3 years.

I believe we have the list, its all about just topping it up now and being patient.

I don't get to watch the other teams very much, and i remember dangerfield as a Tac cup player. He's a very versatile type with big engine & tough, play anywhere sort.

where their currently playing him I wouldn't know. But from what I've read, he's held in the highest esteem. So, as I said, if we're to recruit someone of the midfield type size & build, I'd try to get him.

I saw Boak briefly today, the first I've seen of him since Geeelong falcons time, where he was going well. He looked a bit one paced to me and didn't dispose the ball all that well.?? If we go for another of these types that will cost us something in return, they would have to have some special skilsets that we don't have, or lacking. Power players, hard nuts, power forward, etc.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was
