Gray has been around for like 4 years and you have only "seen his highglights" ... hahahaha.

He played against us twice last year you numpty.

Seriously you are incredible. Thats gold!!!!

Uh... maybe you misunderstand.

Read the post again.

I've not seen much of him, besides his games against MFC, which from memory were fairly average.

Other than that I've only seen highlights and he looks very good, but I imagine that is because they are highlights and I could be overrating him.

Not a difficult concept to grasp.

It's all moot anyway, but I was trying to get a feel on other's opinions of these players.

Boak or Gray

Two Questions:

What do supporters think we'd have to be willing to part with to get one of these players?

What would you be willing to part with for one of these players?

Given Port's notorious hard lines in their previous trading history, I'd think we'd need to give up more than we'd want to, so can't see either being a real possibility.

But a first round pick for Boak - we could use more speed, ball winning ability and clean skills - only that's not going to carry much weight this year.

Using the Brock McLean trade as a guide, Boak would have to be worth quite a bit more than pick 11.

I think our first draft pick is likely to be later than that in 2010.

I wouldn't part with any of:

Grimes, Scully, Morton, Watts, Frawley, Garland, Jurrah, Trengove, Bate.

Possibly a few others.

By the end of the season that group may include McKenzie, Blease or Gysberts, but unlikely.

Gray is a different kettle of fish.

I think he might be worth a Nathan Jones or a Petterd, but not sure if I'd do the trade.

Any reason we needed to start a whole new thread for this KS? what was wrong with the original>?

Port supporters reckon that he signed on 4 weeks ago according to the Advertiser.

Edit: Gray that is.

According to one of the articles they did last year, offering a long contract with lots of money; Jamar chose a 1 year deal with MFC.

Yeah, just read about that

Yeah, just read about that

That tells me he really wants to remain an MFC player. Given how sh'it we were looking last year you wouldn't have blamed him if he wanted to go home and secure 4 years.

Boak and Gray are young guns ready to take off. I've asked for Gray to be traded for 2 years now so hopefully we can get him.

Gray's a jet but is very injury prone. But hey so is ricky bobby.

Love ricky bobby, get gray is class and would be an upgrade.

Is gray the sort that can be multi skilled, can he, not only play small forward, but has he the skills adaptable to learn a midfield role as well?

I would throw up our first round pick for Boak he is better than what we would get considering the best 17yo have already been signed and the Gold Coast have most of the top 20 picks.

OK. Who's hacked into Keyser's account? There's no way the Keyser who posts here normally would utter anything so... so... oh Geeze. McKenzie will be one of our most important inside mids, and IMO is the heir to Junior's throne once Junior retires. Blease and Gysberts, both high draft picks, both yet to play a single AFL game. Come on mate. Lift! Otherwise you should adopt rfpc's signature - "Apparently I'm better than that!"

Uhh, why do we want them? I think our team's pretty good as it is.

A-f'n-men brother. Well said.

I'm not going to respond to a degenerate.

You just did! Seriously mate, are you okay? You're normally a great contributor. ;)

I think you're looking for Demonology, not Demonland. Off you trot.

I don't think there's any reason why he can't if he increases his fitness.

I don't watch the opposition much these days as I've been flat out watching what we've been doing & not doing for the past 4 - 5 years since I lost faith in our team back in 05 - 06. Thinking we we're in trouble back then.

Now I'll have to try to get interested again in the AFL instead of just being focused on us. Learn to barrack again.

If these young blokes want to dish it out they better start learning how to take it.

But thanks for the advice Barry.

I now understand there is a larger % of posters around here that formulate their opinions from youtube rather than using their own eyes live at the games.

I apologise for my honesty.

I'd agree, but I get the idea he is talking about one of those players in return for Boak who is/will be elite.

I also have to agree on McKenzie - far too important to the side now.

Blease & Gysberts have shown nothing yet & could be busts.

If you traded them for Boak it would be an absolute win.

.....

I'd go after neither. Boak is 183cm, Gray 184cm. We are talking smalls - forward or otherwise. We have plenty of these. (And Danny Hughes is 186cm.)

We need 193+cm mobile forwards. Spend our $s on this type.

Boak is a bluechip mid, not a small forward.

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last
