Did anyone notice that all of a sudden there is a new "3 Game Membership for $84" available? Could it be that the club are now acting on suggestions made here and/or 'ology, or is it a simple case of copying Richmond and Collingwood?

They weren't available last year:

The figure at close of business today was 31,529, prompting Club President, Jim Stynes, to say, ‘This is a fantastic result and just more proof that our supporters believe in the direction the Club has taken both on and off the field. But the job is not done yet. We still have over three thousand who have not yet renewed and we need these people on board. If they can’t come to all the games our new three match membership is an ideal option that still assists the Club greatly.”

We had them last season.

There are still loads of sleeping Demons out there 45. They will jump on around Round 16 if we are a sniff of making the finals.

Every Club has fickle supporters-look at hawthorn right now. Supporters want blood at the moment after the team has won 9 Flags in 31 years!!!

It's fantastic news for the club, in all directions we are on the way up. Keep the momentum rolling into Friday night, and let's make some NOISE!

WYL, my post was not in refering to yours. And of course every club has "fickle" supporters. Every sport does. Every walk of life probably does - people may only be interested in visiting art galleries when their favourite painter's work is on display just as casual fans may only enjoy going when the team's having a win. It's not my cup of tea, but makes sense.

Brett, perhaps they're saying new for this season? I know with the "dob in a demon" campaign last year, my partner was sold a 3-game membership (though perhaps that was just for a special once off).

My point is that I don't think we were copying anyone, there's a fair chance that clubs like us would prefer to release these sorts of memberships late on in the campaign to encourage any unsigned (uncertain) members to jump on at the last minute for not as big of a financial input. Early on we'd obviously prefer people chipping in extra for the full membership. I'd be less likely to pay the full amount as we're now about 1/3 of the way through the season.

We've also had the three game "field of women" (I think it's called) membership for a few weeks now.

Big thanks to all signed up members... come on all you unsigned members... the club still needs you

Fair enough, and i agree. I am just sick of people always saying that we have the most fickle supporters, with our past 46 years of no success i think our supporter base is fantastic.

If the Filth had the same performance as us in terms of finals appearences over the same period, they too would struggle to pull a crowd-People like winners.

Of course people like winners, it's human nature.

Whilst the success side has been hard for them, it's been relatively easy being a Pies fan. So many people that kids grow up with them, so many more going to games, I think it builds on itself.

I for one couldn't give a toss if people say we have the most fickle supporters.

I know that going for Melbourne is one of the toughest, but enjoyable, tags I can wear and I also know that we have some of the most hardcore, feral, dedicated, loyal fans in the league.

interesting thought...would collingwood have the same clout that they do now if our roles were reversed since '64??

Because both clubs were Huge in the 50's compared to most others. Success is 95% of survival no doubt. Personally i cannot believe we survived the early 80's. Contracts were out of control pre the cap being formed.

Since '64 they've won one premiership. Eddie Mcguire has been massive for Collingwood.

There is a different mindset at that club, and amongst supporters.

yes but since '64 they have always been in the mix & when they have dipped they bounce back quickly, would they still be a power club if they had had the 23 year drought we did. It's purely hyperthetical i know but i find it interesting, particularly when you look at carlton post 2002. They were so close to going down-without the Cardboard Criminal it would have been Curtains.

Eddie has been great for Collingwood, but even before him the filth supporters still turned up-they just didn't collect the Cash well enough.

I think the 3 game membership is aimed primarily at international students on a tight budget, part of the promotion to the market.

$80 is still a membership, it's only a little less than a distance membership for 5 home games.

On that international student note - if it gets traction and Demons games become a stable part of the 'community activities' and 'get to know Melbourne' programs for international students, it'll be worth many thousands of attendences each year at the same time as making the Demons known in all the corners of the world that international students come from and usually return to.

We did.

I kept chipping away at a mate of mine and eventually he succumbed, but it was a 3rd of the way through the season so he ended up buying a 3 game membership.

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had
