Matthew Panos?

No! Why is it that you've misinterpreted what I think?

Bate is a very good player, not a star, not yet, anyway, but becoming a regular & a key player in our team. But he's a 3rd tall.

Panos will be alike, & I think will be a very good footballer.

Panos won't be anything near as good as Bate. Stop underselling Bate.

Panos doesn't even have red hair!

I'm being serious except for the red hair thing.

Panos is not an AFL player. I'd rather Jason Cloke.

What interests me is how Panos gained the status of All Australian in the national under 18 carnival and yet five months later he's not considered in the best 60 youngsters drafted?

Good Point. And if Panos is an accurate kick for Goal he has something on Newton who we apparently have to 'Re - rookie".

I would also like M. Thorpe ahead of Meesen if that was possible and his attitude and fitness were deemed appropriate.

Hopefully the Gold Coast can rookie Meesen and Newton for us.

Joel McDonald had an excellent 2008 and may enable Davey, Grimes or Bruce to play more attacking roles if he plays down back.

PLenty of All australian U/18's have not made it in the AFL

See David Gourdis key Position player AA at U/18 level 3 years ago for WA touted as top 20 pick went to Richmond as a rookie never to be seen again

What makes average forwards look good is a gun midfield kicking it down their throat, Gourdis had Morton, Masten and Palmer, Mooney has ablett, selwood, corey, Bartel

Panos had Trengove and Tapscott who would have hit him up from half forward.

Beauty is Trengove Tapscott and Morton are now demons, we are buliding a team of gun midfielders , adequate tall forwards are all we need and we have more than adequate forwards in Jurrah, Bate , Watts future is looking good

Great, now do a list of all the duds who came and went on rookie lists.

There's obviously a few notable exceptions, but I'd guess that in 9 cases in 10 (or more), recruiters get it right when overlooking players in the ND.

I'm not underselling Bate, where we differ is how far Panos will go, you think he's [censored], & I think he's talented, time will tell if he gets the opportunities & makes the most of them.

seems to me that you agree with RR on what ever he says, be yourself HT.

But you are implying that he agrees with RR all the time?

Surely if he was to be himself with that implication, he would only agree with RR.

You have to be on here a little longer if you want to be patronising...

I don't know, I think he managed to do it quite well after only a week...

(not that it was necessarily correct HT)

I can't quite see if things aren't correct, how they can be considered done "quite well".

Move on.

I think ks's post was a crack at the other guy, not you.

I laughed when that guy said you always agreed with RR.

I laughed...but more that he's been here a week.

Hey Nasher, I've often still wondered where mo64 has gone...taken another life form perhaps, or two... ie. on the board still ?

Re Panos - you need more strings to your bow these days than simply being a decent mark and a good kick for goal.

Pace, decision making, smarts and potential for improvement are essential factors recruiters need to consider.

I never understood the Panos fascination with many posters on this forum.

He'll be a decent SANFL quality player and that's it.

Panos is still a Kid and is 100% worth rookie listing. I think if our situation was different (we have some rookie spots left) we would all be hoping he were rookie listed with the MFC. No point of looking at the downside of an unproven kid, the whole idea of Kids is you take a punt, especially at the Rookie and PSD as this is where the waters are murky.

Joel MacDonald is the better option, he is a proven player at this level! What would be better is if we could have both, have the ready now option, and the maybe later option.

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the
