Morton and Grimes averaged 23 and 21 disposals per game respectively in 2009.

This ranks them 1 and 2 from their class of 2007.

Did anyone also notice that Grimes averaged 3rd highest marks per game in the whole league for 2009...

He beat the likes of Brown, Lake and Mooney.

I'm stoked with Morton and Grimes... but i'd still take Cyril Rioli, Cotchin, Kruiser ahead of them.

Still, if Morton bulks up and, according to his own words, becomes a dominant CHF/CHB, he could be the best of the lot.

PS- Grimes is a gun, but 90% of those marks were sideways chips around half back

Funny, I'd take cotchin but not the other two. I think Cyril is cream not cake and Kruezer has not convinced me about whether he is a ruckman or a KPF. He is neither yet, but that said he was always going to take time to grow into physically demanding positions.

While I am excited with what I have seen with Grimes and Morton, its only 2 years and I think too early to tell.

Cotchin is very good though. And Masten has played some promising games for WCE.

Taylor and Pears have been very good up back while Palmer was good in his first year til injured.

Considering that both of these guys have reasonable excuses for being late developers (Morton being tall, and skinny, Grimes managing lower back issues for most of his first year) I think there is a solid basis for judging them favourably at this point.

I think it would be fair to say that we have two guys in the smallest top bracket of players from that draft. That's a satisfying enough feeling for me at this point.

No Richmond finished last and would have had first pick. Carlton got him on a priority pick and would have got pick 3 if we had won, as is was they got Priority Pick then pick 2 (which they traded to West Coast for Judd) Richmond got pick 1 and we got pick 4.

Despite Robbie F's explanation, from my understanding, no we wouldn't have.

I believe the club rated Cotchin and Morton higher and had Kruezer at 4 or 5.

Sorry for the lack of response! Rhino's answered the question but really I don't know. I may well be judging him far too early as well. He's struck me as in between - not tall and physically dominant and not with super skills for his height. Is he big/quick enough for a forwardline? Is he smart enough - truly I see so little of him that I could not possibly judge it.

Picking talls is hard.

    Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning.     A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session.     Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership.
