There are certainly enogh good numbers available, but I like the high number.

If it were me personally, I would prefer to stay in the same number my whole career.

again..fair enough...just curious.. its unlikley hed keep his high number, he could..but history suggests unlikley.

was just an idea :)

Jurrah can make 48 his own. We talk about #3 being Gazzas number, #2 being Robbie Flower, and of course #31 Barassi.

Imagine kids in 40 years time being handed the #48 and it meaning something special.

I must confess i'm rather intrigued and delighted by the enthusiam many have that Jurrah's 48 is iconic already...well there ya go :D

yehas i love that he's made 48 his. really burst onto the scene with it and its identifiable to him. not many players do that with the high numbers. personally i like it on him. it suits. but we don't really want a whole team running around in late 30s and 40s do we...

and as far as numbers go i reckon number 1 is the worst one. it always looks so lonely. haha. but seriously i don't really like the look of the one stripe down the back. just personal preference. i'd take 48 over 1 everytime

As I've said before, if it were me I'd want to stay with the number I started in. I know that there has been some talk of him wanting to get the number both he and his father played in back home (can't remember what number though), so that could be an option as well. I guess we'll find out sooner or later.

What about the poor bastards who rushed out to get a Wonaeamirri 39 last year only to be stooged?

SAVE THE 48. I'd rather see him posing with the North Balwyn tram than the South Melbourne.

Last Iconic Dees player to wear the Number '1' was Strawbs O'Dwyer. Even then at times he was was pretty cursed.

Jurrah to keep the 48.

I would like to see Neville the Jet in No 1. Or if we can pick up Lewis at Pick 11 give him the No 1. He will be gone at either the Eagles at 7 or Bummers 10 i would think.

Majak Daw to get the 44.

Scully 31.

Trengove would be great in the No 1 also. Especially if he is the No 1 pick. He can make the number his own.

5 and 9 to key postion forwards I would imagine.

I think Butcher will slip to us. Give him 59 until he can kick the ball through the sticks!

Keep the 48 for mine. It already has such a rich history. Who can forget the power that was energised to purchase that jumper to send to Yuendumu.

Brilliant point.

change to number 1 for me. High number like 48 gives the image of a unproven young player (which he is i might add) but you dont want that number your whole career.

As for the jumper purchased and sent to Yuendumu, if Jurrah has a long and colorful career in number 1 that #48 jersey will become all the more special and valuable as it will signify the long jersey he took to get to the AFL and the time he came on the scene from no where!

Offer Luke Ball either the #1 or #31 jumper (two of the great numbers in the game and at our club) if he signs. In the grand scheme of things it's only a small detail but it's the little things that make the big things happen.

I think Liam would look good in the #5 jumper.

Definitely keep 48.

It's his number and I dare say he will make it one of the more famous MFC numbers by the time he is finished.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
