Brock's no. 5

Recommended Posts

Well, with all the hysteria and doomsaying on the other threads, let's move on to a lighter topic surrounding the fallout of Brock's departure:

Who gets number 5?

Scully?

Trengove?

Pick 11/18?

Second year player? (Blease, Strauss, etc)

Off the top of my head, there's not too much history involved, Schwartz the only significant #5 I'm aware of.

Let the debate begin!!! :D

Excuse me...? What are you on about? It's a number... Do you think it should be retired for a season?

This is not a Brock-bashing thread, this is simply a discussion about who should wear number 5 next season.

why dont you refund his 10,000.

Give it to JURRAH! Bring back the High leaping Number 5 to the "G".

I would like to see a top young player get the famous number 31 jumper (worn by the great Ronald Dale Barassi) for the Demons.

But numbers 9 and 5 should also be highly prized.

Nevertheless, there is nothing wrong with players making a NEW number (such as Liam Jurrah in 48) "famous" in their own right.

would you give back his 10,000?

No I wouldn't.

He made the donation out of good heart. If other club presidents or players made a donation to DD, would you refuse simply because they are not part of MFC? I am sure he would not begrudge the donation now when he is leaving.

Take it back? He has absolutely no right or reason to take back his money.

He is obviously enough of a good-natured person to donate $10,000 in the first place. Do you really think he would demand his money back simply because he is changing clubs? He has made that donation to the club and he committed to it. Only a pathetic low-life like yourself would consider asking for a donation back.

Go back and play on bigfooty, child. And yes, you are certainly acting like one.

I could see Jurrah in the No. 5 or No. 24 but would like too see him keep No. 48. Cult number!

5 & 9 will most likely end up with our KPP we pick up from this draft.

The Aboriginal boys will stick with there high numbers. Davey 36, Jurrah 48, Jetta 39, Bennel 43, Aussie 33, Davey Jnr 29 (Trade Newton).

No. 7 will be available after trade week too I would think.

Scully 31. Trengove 7. Strauss 13 and Blease 17. Majak Daw 24. Ha Ha!

Is the club sticking by its recently instigated policy of giving draftees high numbers until they've 'earned' the right to a lower number? The exception of course was Watts. If they do, expect a whole bunch of last years draftees to get lower numbers (Jurrah, Bennell, Jetta etc) and this years crop to be given mid-30s/early 40s numbers.

Will one of the indigenous boys be symbolically given Wheels number?

Hey numbscull if Brock feels the club should compensate him with a higher salary which would offset the amount he bid in the DD, well then his contribution was worthless. Whats the point in making a DD contribution if you feel you should be recompensated with a higher contract or repaid when you leave the club.

If thats the way Brock feels then his bet was made illegitimately.

    CROSSROADS by The Oracle

Melbourne stands at the crossroads.  Sunday’s game against the West Coast Eagles who have not met the Demons at the MCG in more than ten years, is a make or break for the club’s finals aspirations.  That proposition is self-evident since every other team the club will be opposed to over the next eight weeks of footy is a prospective 2024 finalist. To add to this perspective is the fact that while the Demons are now in twelfth position on the AFL table, they are only a game and a half b

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well
