I did say it was maybe an exaggeration.

My point is that he may be fast, but he's not agile or quick enough to be a top 30 pick.

If that is not a sound basis for an early pick- I have not watched under age football for 40 years. He is one of the best young forwards going around and if anyone disputes me contact Andrew Johnston

Ok. I'm not disputing you. I'm sure you're VERY much behind the kid. And that's great. However, the recruiters have a clearer idea than you and I, and do this for a living. It's it's believed that he doesn't have the pace to get off a Lake/Glass type, or doesn't have the defensive minset to be able to apply pressure when the ball's on the ground or up fro grabs, then he's going to fall behind others. You do see why being 95 kilos almost HURTS his prospects on draft day? Any club looking for a player to make an immediate impact would be excited about him, sure. But his upside would probably be considered not as great as we would wish for.

Look at Jurrah. Immediate impact, very little size, but great ability. I think they're looking for more something resembling this. Better example, Watts. Size, frame, skills, great mark, got the lot including enough pace to beat a player on the lead. And a fairly considerable footy brain with defensive efforts.

I'm sure he'll get picked up. No doubt in my mind, but I would think pick 18 would be a fairly big show of faith.

Hs efforts have impressed you a lot. And that's fair enough, but he's not yet done it against men (has he?). So they have to look at past players recruited. Zomer was a pacey big guy that can take a grab, and he's done nothing.

Like you say, the fact that he HAS kicked goals, will play in his favour. I'm just not so sure it will as much as you want it to. I could be wrong, but hey, as long as we get one or two of Carlisle (apparently we're keen as on him), Butcher, Talia or Temel I think I'll be happy enough.

You're seriously deluded if you think he's in consideration for pick 11. Whilst he performed well during the last 5 weeks of the TAC, he has far less upside and potential than other KPF's worth considering at picks 11 and 18 such as Carlisle, Panos, Black, Griffin or Butcher. Whilst he has the size and strength advantage at TAC level, his skills and workrate dictate that there is a lot of development work to be done for him to reach an AFL standard. At best he may be a consideration as a smokey for pick 18, although suggest he'll be picked up in the 3rd or 4th round.

For what its worth, I was speaking with Shifter last week at the camp and he reckons Temel would have been rookie listed up until 3 or 4 weeks ago and believes that his TAC final form will see him move up the pecking order and that he'll be picked up as a 3rd round pick.

Dont get me wrong .. I don't want it to seem that I'm being harsh on Serhat.

But there are aspects of his game that need rapid improvement:

For example, Robertson ran off Temel three times - before Serhat decided to follow him.

It's the little things like this that youtube recruiters tend to miss.

He missed the Vic Metro side for 2 resons:

*The Coaches were not impressed with his attitude.

*He wrote himself off in the rooms before one of the intra club practice games trying to do a handstand (true story lol).

However, he's improved thus far, so perhaps he can improve more.

I would pick the guy up based on this alone! It's the nuts ones who seem to make the best players (Buddy, Dermie, Locket, Jakovich etc). Granted they could fizzle out just as quick, but if a player could dominate for us, I wouldn't mind if he was a complete headcase.

Butcher will not likely get to 11, but Carlisle may - from the little I have seen of his highlights, he seems to have more attributes that Temel, who lacks a yard and is said to lack defensive skills or even interest!

The club wouldn't be stupid enough to use anything lower than pick 34 on this guy. He is a big lump with a good kick, but that's it. No way we use anything earlier than 34. Cant believe I see people with mock drafts wanting him at 11?! Are you mental? Talia, Tapscott, Butcher, Panos, Carlisle and a host more are all far more talented and better prospects.

Gee - just shows how wrong was I as well as others. Just shows why BP & others went for best picks rather than needs. All recruitors must not havethought much of the Full forward types- Temel not picked up at all-went poorly in State screening & Panos- picked up Rookie 3rd round by Bulldogs. Don't mind having a Temel pie in my face. I'll be following his future.

However, very surprised Selection #10 – Jake Melksham-Essendon ,whom was voted best on ground , just ahead of Temel - whom kicked 5 in Grand Final are miles apart. Interesting, how our brains work.

There's 3 sets of rankings:

1. The "Big Footy" pre-draft rankings

2. The paid recruiters actual draft picks

3. The realised talent of the selected players in the AFL

The real "Sliders" - players who play above their ranking and the real "Bolters" - players who don't live up to their draft ranking, wont be known for 4-5 years.

I am surpized a big lump of a lad who can take a mark and kick a goal isn't rookied.

I am amazed this guy didn't get on a rookie list. He will have to work at it, I am sure next year could be nicer to the big lad with an expanded draft. Could still be a demon yet!
