Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

West Coast versus... Who cares?

Looking pretty impressive right now.

Nearly 5 goals up near the end of the first half.

Mr Morton, care to make a call on this one?

For mine... I have no confidence.

I have faith that Worsfold will be able to tank his way out of this lead. Unfortunately.

They'll try their best to tank, but it's going to be hard given how many top players Essendon are missing.

Still, after watching Richmond today, there is no way they are losing to them at home in Round 22. Tanking or no tanking.

If we nearly beat Richmond on a neutral ground while pulling the biggest tank tactics of all time, West Coast will surely beat them. Surely!

Just realised this topis was already on here haha.....so can someone tell me if west coast win tom is ours? no matter what?

Lighitening does not strike twice but West Coast by 35 + points.

If West Coast win, we will certainly get Scully unless we go past the 16.5 mark. If that happens, pick 1 goes to the team on the bottom, which could be Freo. So it's not a certainty, but if West Coast win it helps.

GO WEST COAST! Get there!!!

oh, I can't believe this is happening... I tipped them but it was more out of desperate hope...

We can now comfortably beat Freo and then relax for the following weeks (although I'll never trust Carlton)

THIS IS THE CULMINATION OF THE DEMONS' SEASON FOR ME.

Justification.

What a massive step towards picks 1 and 2 today was. I can't believe West Coast actually got up - I was convinced they'd go winless for the rest of the year. If Freo can somehow find a win at home in the next four weeks then 1 and 2 should be ours. Bring on the end of this rubbish.

You guys forgetting the Eagles played in 2 GF,s not long ago

Their current side has quite a few premiership players still

Both Port and WCE IMO are playing below their capabilities

Both are quite capable of beating the Cats

A weird week end for sure - tipped 7 (Hawks let me down) but the Weagles was a left field one to make up some tips on the leaders and they have delivered us the goods - well and trully. Still feel hollow from this afternoon.

What a great day for the MFC

I am not sure it is a great day. The cost to Melbourne may be greater than the benefits of the priority picks. I wounder how many kids and sponsors lost faith in the club today. I have watched Melbourne lose many games by big margins but this was the worst loss for me. Maybe in 2 years I will think differently but I felt ashamed that I applauded Richmond today.

I don't know you & I have no intention of trying to be insulting.

But your profile name suggests to me,que sara sara, what ever will be will be.

Is it possible that you don't feel as pained by our perpetually losing sides decades upon decades?

Are you prepared to do whatever it takes to grow a power MFC dynasty?

Do you Really care if the side gets to 7th,,, Or top 2??

I think these are the questions that may separate some of us supporters, just what it will take for all of us to feel a sense of achievement from a lifetime of supporting the DEES.

Rubbish, any negative attitudes resulting from losing a couple of emaningless games this year will pale into insignificance next year when we start playing our kids regularly and start winning. Watts, Jurrah, Grimes, Blease, Strauss, Morton, Scully and whomever we decide to take with our 2nd pick with generate so much excitement in years to come this small amount of pain will be worth it.

Have faith, believe in Bailey and the club, he's leading us in the right direction.

Gee - what assumptions based on my profile name. The name I chose is purely because that is what I have heard in my 40 years of supporting the club. I have never seen a premiership and it pains me. However, what hurts me more is the look of my son's face when he saw me and other supporters cheering Richmond. As I said, I understand why we did it. I wrote about it in another thread. We had a chance today for Bailey to say "you know what - we will benefit by losing but I don't care. This club is about winning". Travis Johnstone was a number one pick and if we did today to pick up a player like him - I will be even sadder. I support the club in every way - I go interstate, I go to preseason games and I go every week. I want a winning culture - what happened today in my humble opinion does not create a winning culture. Would you do what John Elliott did at Carlton to create a dynasty or do you have greater integrity? I know I do and today we lost integrity. I blame the AFL for tempting Melbourne with a bad apple and the powers that be at Melbourne for taking it.

Wow. That's two from two for you...

Listen, I'm off down the TAB t make some bets, do you have anything to say about next weekends match? I'll cut you in?

People are saying it's a big day for MFC, but it's not done yet. We may now be in the box seat, but there's 4 games left, and strange things happen in footy.

Dean is going to cop it in the papers tomorrow.

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
