Simpson retiring - 1 week too early!

Adam Simpson has announced he will play his last game for North Melbourne this Friday night against Carlton. So Kangas may play above themselves for his last game.

Should have lasted another week so they would be up against Dees in round 19. That is increasing as a "danger" game for MFC!

first of all congrates adam simpson on a great career, was a very good player. Very underated!!!

Secondly i think north are a very competitive team with good teams so should easily account for us. Helps having boomer back!

Would love them to smash the blues this week!!!

Yes. Well done Adam Simpson on a great career. You have been a great player and club man and the Kangaroos will miss you!

That surprises me. Simpson's been having a great year.

Really? I doubt Adam Simpson would agree

After Simpson was at the centre of the chook video fiasco, he had actually offered to Laidley that he resign/ retire immediately. Simpson wnet through personal hell where his good character was questioned and punished. Its been a nightmare that only hastened the inevitable notwithstanding the football he played recently.

Nevertheless, over the course of his career he has been a fine leader and a tremendous underrated footballer for the Club.

I reckon he's dead set scared of facing up to us.

And there you have it...

One of the better, and more graceful retirements in recent memory. SHame he won't be playing next week. If we get up, we might just have him to blame.

I actually think this is a similar situation to Mark Taylor declaring rather then breaking Bradman's Australiam highest score record. He realised that Bradman had been a far superior player but he (Taylor) had always been a better team man - sometimes better to be true to yourself and being remembered for what you were great at - selfless - then chasing personal glory and individual records.

I'd hardly say playing out the season is chasing personal glory and individual records. He is a dual Premiership player, b&f winner and former captain. Must be tough too he has only missed 7 games through his career. Wouldn't be an unworthy record holder by any means.

Bradman's record has been broken now anyway.

Off-field, maybe, but I was talking on-field. He's been leading from the front on the field, and playing some decent football as well.

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
