Whelan spoils a mark in the backline - "make him captain!"

Grimes hits a player on the lead on a wing - "make him captain!"

Beamer puts in a hard tackle - "make him captain!"

Sylvia crunches Nick Maxwell - "make him captain!"

Brock gets another clearance - "make him captain!"

Jamar ties his shoelaces correctly - "make him captain!"

Newton kicks a goal for Casey - ...nah, best leave that one.

In all seriousness, every time an MFC player does something worth some mild respect, do we need to anoint them captain?

Its tiresome and idiotic.

Brad Green plays roughly his 80th consecutive consistent match, showing the most leadership of any MFC player on the field, reaffirming that he is the best player on our list as well as our best leader - make him captain.

Green is doing things now that he didn't do at the beginning of his career, but he was never soft. Bruce was soft and still is soft, but Green was never soft.

I didn't say that Green was "soft", but what I do say is that he's stopped that, 'just getting cheap easy kicks stuff' & has lifted his workload & hardball gets & leadership qualities plus to top that off he's absolutely committing his body over the last 2 seasons.

Not only is Brad Green courageous, talented and inspirational, he is an exceptional young man with good manners, a beaming smile and patience. He is a fine role model for children, and a leader in every sense of the word. I would applaud a decision to make him captain after James McDonald retires.

You forgot Stefan Martin's great goal.

He and Davey are our only two elite or near-elite players. What a champion Greeny is. Six more games for 200. Legend.

Little off topic but i could not believe when Lloyd hooked Frawleys arm and dragged him down on top of him Frawley didnt get the free kick. The umpire clearly saw it as he told Lloyd thats why he didnt get the free. If frawley hooked lloyds arm like that there would of been a free paid. Resultant throw in was a goal too.

That's a great point miller time, and I missed the significance of it at the time.

as pointed out, he is one of if not our best on field act, and as you say probably our best off field individual.

i dont see how anyone can be given the captaincy next year apart from him. given form, role in the team and the direction we want the group in he is the logical fit. if mclean hadn't missed two years and suffered a decline in form this may be a topic for debate but for the time being green is the only reasonabe fit.

I also wish to pay tribute to Brad for a great act of courage. Certainly the equal of Reiwoldt and J. Brown's legendary great marks, except in Brad's case, he actually got clobbered(virtually tunnelled, anyway, by a guy who saw him coming and ducked....didn't want the ball as much).

Though Brad was running with the flight, he was the one who kept his eye on the ball. The on-coming Essendon player , in my opinion, infringed, because he elected to protect himself, and took Green out, legs first. Yes, too technical to be definitely defined as "dangerous play"(tunnelling"), but I reckon worth the mark being paid or a free to Green. And what an inspiring goal it would have resulted in!

This act of sheer guts was perpetrated by a guy who's already suffered a severe head injury this season! I'm full of admiration.

I'll admire Ablett, Franklin, Pavlich ,Fevola , Didak etc in the same way when I see them do it, but I haven't yet. With experience, it's possible to foresee and avoid such incidents. I have the same respect for Bartel, Reiwoldt , Rivers and J. Brown as I have been developing for Green.

He should be skipper for 2010. He's been setting the example for years now.

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to
