lost by 2 points.. that fat [censored] BT made enough snide comments

I'm so surprised he was beaten... gets so much practice in our games !!!

Bruce would've won if someone had've told him to aim as if the bullseye was his teammate's feet.

I can't be angry at BT for saying 'no more than 4' either -- the majority of us are saying it. He's just stating the obvious.

....and at least one opposition player about to wrap up the receiver !!

BT only saying what we all want..lol

So when BT says we should aim for the PP it's 'snide', but when you create a thread discussing the results that we need over Round 8 to secure the wooden spoon, that's fine?

i wasn’t referring to that comment

I thought BT was funny. After Cameron said that the boys are really pressing for a win, BT says 'Not more than 4 Cameron.'

BT said that? That's quite funny by his standards.

Bruce hit any 2's or 5's via hospital handpasses?

I am not taking a ‘stab’ at anyone.. but I am just curious why there are so many on this site that don’t like Bruce and say he is crap, should be dropped, should retire already, etc! I understand he is getting older and probably isn’t at his peek, but he has been one of our best players for years! He is still one of our highest disposal getters and is generally pretty solid most games. His efficiency isn’t always as high as it could be, but as Freak says in his ‘Disposal efficiency’ thread.. it is hard to judge this stat sometimes! Having said that Bruce did have a 92% efficiency rate against the dogs! Bruce has been playing in the backline so of course he gets put under pressure when disposing the ball. As I said I know he is getting older and we having some younger boys coming up that we want to make room for.. I am just surprised of the reaction on this site towards him!

I'll have a stab at summarising the various outlooks regarding Bruce

Essentially heres a bloke who played some very good seasons , in fact played one blinder which history suggests was aberant and possibly hitting above his weight as he's never come close really to mirroring it. ( Some would argue he's never been quite the same since Guerra cleaned him up).. possibly thats too simplistic but strangely works with time lines.

No one questions his endeavour or ferocity for the ball. He will play in at the ball and is to be commended for it ....HOWEVER...for all this his real effectiveness is somewhat gilded. Anyone who has watched him over the years just knows that more often than not he'll butcher a kick or add to the workcover policy requirements of the club with his 'dubious' handball skills.

On this basis many often question his value. Not his endeavour nor indeed dedication to the jumper. Thats legitimate and beyond reproach.

yeah, i agree with that.

I never call for him to be dropped and I acknowledge that he does so many things so well, but for some reason his disposal is often appalling.

Not always, but far too often for a player of his stature and it frustrates me no end.

Time after time he handballs at teammates feet or butchers a kick and it kills me cos i know he is better than that.

Yet still, now I cringe when the ball is in his hands, almost as much as a Newton.

thank you belzebub.. nice response!

i suppose i can see where you're coming from.. i just think there are a lot of other players in the team that are worse then him.. but i suppose everyone expects more when he is getting paid a higher amount!

Brock Mclean anyone?

Those who rant on about Bruce do so because they perceive him as soft. If it was just his disposal then he'd have many friends in this team. By the way, he isn't soft and if you think he is you don't understand the game.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
