In what I think is a marvellous bit of PR type stuff we have snared Tony Hawk as a Demon.

big deal many might think ...but this guy is an absolute dead set legend in his chosen sport..probably without peer i,d suggest. To get images of this ultra cool guy in the red and blue will I guaranteee you give a bit of street cred in places we probably mightnt have it.

All these little things all go to getting us back in the public's face in a better way. Wel done to the guys.."bravo...bravo !!" :)

already some good exposure for our new sponsor..!! :)

Great News, This Guy is huge exposure. He can sure skate if you have not seen him-makes a fortune. Well done MFC...

I'm probably showing my age, but I've only heard of Tony Hawk because he was on the Simpsons. Skateboarding is obviously popular with kids, but unless Tony Hawk starts skateboarding with a Melbourne beanie, I don't think that it'll generate massive exposure for the club. I think we're talking about different demographics.

Someone like Chad Reid, who also makes a fortune, would also have limited benefit for the club.

I think whilst conceding there are as many aspects to demographics as there are pizza toppings ..lol.. that to have someone of Hawk's ilk don a Melb jumper ..is actually pretty good stuff. Whilst many skaters arent probably footy nuts..some are. We arent big in the minds of youths..and this is an area that was brooched at the summit..i.e how to get into their mindsets..hence also the youth summit !! In itself its no panacea but its another little thing that goes into the conciousnesses of some.

Some kids might feel it a bit daggy barracking for that supposedly traktor skiing bunch but if they see things like Hawk in red and blue then a different perception starts to creep in.. that's good for mine :)

    REDEEMING by Meggs

    It was such a balmy spring evening for this mid-week BNCA Pink Lady match at our favourite venue Ikon Park between two teams that had not won a game since round one.   After last week’s insipid bombing, the DeeArmy banner correctly deemanded that our players ‘go in hard, go in strong, go in fighting’, and girl they sure did!   The first quarter goals by Alyssa Bannan and Alyssia Pisano were simply stunning, and it was 4 goals to nil by half-time.   Kudos to Mick Stinear.

    Last Saturday’s crushing loss to Fremantle, after being three goals ahead at three quarter time, should be motivation enough to bounce back for this very winnable Round 5 clash at Windy Hill.     Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval.     With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.
