:o Could we lose it from here? - Roughead first goal, Williams a shot at goal, and Morton kicks a goal.

im worried too...

Unbelievable. Actually, no, typical.

I love barracking for Melbourne

That Grimes smother was awesome though, and Cheney and Spencer showed a lot. In the end, it was our poor kicking in front of goal and our midfield (which is seriously terrible, aside from McLean) that lost us the match.

Oh, and Newton is an absolute joke of a footballer, and I sincerely hope to never ever see him in a Melbourne jumper again.

How did that just happen. Just lacked the polish and quality in the end.

Looking at the positives Frawley was superb. Bail looked good and Grimes had a fine last quatar under pressure.

The likes of Sylvia & Newton really need to step it up. Both lacked impact in a big way.

That was a friggen terrible game, even when we were in front it was becaue the Hawks weren't trying.

We have too many players with poor skills, ie Frawley, Bell, Bartram, PJ, Dunn, Newton...bah, makes me mad just thinking about it.

If we continue like this pencil us in for last

Why do I put myself through this? Why do I care about the MFC???

Oh well, we're off to the sticks! Who's gonna guess the first serious knee injury on a concrete oval??

I think we're at Princes Park next Saturday.

Wow how did we lose that

Didn't we have 8 weeks more preseason than them.

Pathetic last quarter - and that was the only quarter of football that was anything like what Melbourne will experience this year.

In the first three quarters, I would have looked good out there. The opposition wasn't trying.

What we can take out of the game is that Newton's time is up. He will not be at the club next year.

Sylvia was exceptionally disappointing.

Miller still does not have good enough football brains.

Did we really expect any other result? lol I mean, Melbourne 30 points up at 3 quarter time is hardly in the bag.

Its only the NAB cup. Surely an expected result before the game started.

I think we need to look at this game in a constructive way - first game at Launceston and none of our draft picks from last year except for Bail. Lots of room for improvement - Watts in the Forward line

    HIGHLIGHTS/LOWLIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Melbourne traveled across the continent to take on the Fremantle Dockers in sweltering conditions at Mandurah south of Perth in a game that delivered the club both its highlight and its lowlight in the first minute.  But first, let’s start by doing away with the usual cliches used in connection with the game. It was just a practice match and the result didn’t matter. Bad kicking is bad football. The game was played in severe heat, the swirly breeze played havoc with both teams resulting in

The Dees were blown out of the water early by the Fremantle Dockers before fighting back and going down by 19 points in their final practice match of the preseason before Round 1. Remember it's only a practice match if you lose.

    TRAINING: Friday 28th February 2025

A couple of Demonland Trackwatchers headed down to Gosch's Paddock to bring you their observations from today's training session before the Demons head off to Perth for their final Practice Match. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Beautiful morning, not much wind, more than a couple of dozen spectators.  The players were up and about, boisterous and having fun. One of their last drills were three teams competing in a hard at it, handball game in a small area. Goody

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
