Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Don't get too excited about West, they don't stay long at the Dees.

Brett Ratten------1 season

Anthony Rock----1 season

Paul Williams-----1 season

After 1 season with us,guess where he's headed, back West with the Doggies.

He'd have his 1 season away from the Doggies, then he's heading back to the kennel.

WOOF WOOF!!!!!!!

For mine it is anthony rock that has a bit to answer for. He was left a top quality midfield and this slipped under him, correct me if I am wrong but during this period not many injuries to top players. Paul Williams had plenty of injuries. Lets hope westy can rebuild it like ratten did.

I'm Getting more excited every day! Even signed the Pooch up as member last night!

Who was in the top quality midfield? When Rock had arrived in 2005, our No 1 midfielder Scott Thompson left for Adelaide.

Thonpson had a top 2004 season til injured and Ratten had the benefit of the only class midfielder we had plus an AA ruckman in Jeff White whos contribution waned in years after that. How easy is it for a midfield coach to look good.

Our boom recruits in 2003 draft McLean and Sylvia were in there 2nd seasons with Sylvia having OP and McLean have a number of niggles. Moloney who was promising in 2005 broke down with OP in 2006. We had no real hard contested midfielders beside the honest Junior and we had talented but lazy and underperforming TJ. If anything we were a very ordinary midfield during that time.

Your post is proof that unless you are close to the footy dept activities that the average supporter does not have a clue about the relative performance of assistance coaches. And flaky revisionism of history does not cover it.

I agree with RR re the "facts", but having said that, I was never impressed with Anthony Rock, and I know that a lot of the players felt similarly. Danners made it very hard for a new assistant bc he acted extremely autocratically, but Rock failed to impart a vision of a way he wanted the midfield to play, and I think for a development point of view, he tried but failed.

I'm not sure he will be in that much of a hurry back there. They treated him poorly. I saw him at the 'G their last game, he was devastated by their loss to the Cats. His loyalty was immense. Great guy. If MFC treat him well, he'll repay us. I was surprised at his height (lack of). Good on you Scotty, hope it's a good time for you as well as for us.

Don't know why he'd head back to the "Kennel" (a drought stricken, ferral home base) so soon, having wanted to play on another season, only to be denied the opportunity. He'll go back when he's good & ready, when Eade is no longer there. ;)

One of the factors which enticed Ray to leave.

One of the factors which enticed Ray to leave.

Ray was flicked because he is an ordinary fringe player. An ineffectual outside player who was surplus to the Dogs. Another of the exalted class of 2003! No real loss there and only worth a 3rd round pick in trade week.

As a player, West falls into the category of senior players who dont know when their time is up whether it be age, form or injury or a combination of all. For some facing the writing on the wall and then the transition from player to ex player can be harder than for others.

West leaving the kennel is about broadening your AFL experience as a Coach. Good on him for doing it. Otherwise you end up as an ex Sheedy nuff nuff like Mark Harvey.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
