32 players if everyone shows!

haha everyone will be playing in 10 min bursts! we should out run them anyway.

question. for those who dont play regularly - what are you doing for mouthguards?

Praying to the good lord that my teeth don't get knocked out!!!

I assume you're referring to Brent Crosswell but I think that might be a trifle unfair because he was a great at Carlton and good value at Melbourne.

I have to think about that one and am open to suggestions.

My initial reaction would be the Vinnie Catoggio but there might be a better one lurking around ... James Cook?

Phil Pinnell

Michael Young

Paul Hurst

Brent Heaver

Peter Rohde

Ronald Barassi????

"32 players..."

no, benno...

rollinson 65 is a non-playing sponsor from demonology...

and redleg and whispering jack are coaches...

there will be enough game time as everyone can stand, I promise you...

and blessed_hands has a habit of getting sent off...

It's true. I'm a loose cannon.

Can't control my white line fever.

Meanwhile, "The Snitch" is talking all sorts of jive over at the Carlton forum.

Sounds like a job for the wise_monkey.

Benno..., Rollo usually posts up here what people are to bring or recommend bringing ie: mouthguards, jumpers etc...

Looks like the heatwave is staying away so therefore the sunscreen may not need to appear. However...this IS Melbourne. ;)

so we're starting at 2, is there going to be a warm up ect. i'd hate for all u older blokes 2 do a hammy

Let's try to get there between 1-1:30pm to have a stretch, a kick, a yarn and talk some tactics.

I drove past Gosh's paddock this afternoon - there's a small fenced off area on the half forward flank, about 2 x 2 meters. Let's hope it's removed by the weekend.

I've done no fitness in months, am getting fatter by the day and still haven't learnt how to kick...

I just got in from a 10km run - part of a gruelling training routine for the weekend's game.

And our boy Blessed has just started pre-season with Port Melbourne. He's fit!

At least there'll be a few of us to chase the pill around all day.

I'm happy to give "The Snitch" a touch up, but wouldn't it be more fun if both of us took him out. Personally, I don't think he's got the fitness or the nerve to get anywhere near the play.

Does training for VFL goal umpiring count?

Wait, even if it did... I haven't done any yet.

10km!? Never in my life.

"Wet weather thinking required and please bring boots with decent stops...."

Melway map reference 2G E10...

TRAIN... to richmond station, walk south down punt road (city side). Walk past the collingwood training ground. If you come to boulton parade, you have gone too far...

CAR... free parking may be available at the punt road oval. If not, try the richmond side streets south of swan street...

WEATHER... extended forecast says 19 degrees, morning rain showers clearing. The operative word is "showers", so footy boots are a must (mitch, please tell scotty fcs so he won't be slipping and sliding but taking good, solid marks on those leads)...

people, it's melbourne and the bluebuggers are promising us a contest...

if we can believe our scout, robbo24, they have the personnel to provide a real contest and a tough game...

people, it's melbourne so bring water AND suncreen !!!

helpers... we have never had enough additional water, so don't slack off on your commitments...

I have 4 additional guernseys, but bring additional jumpers if you have them for players without...

AFTER MATCH DRINKS... crickerters arms hotel, punt road...follow the crowd...

if anyone has last-minute info for the coaches (can't make it, can make it with extra players etc, I invite you to ring me on my mobile on the day 0408 698 328...

    REDEEMING by Meggs

It was such a balmy spring evening for this mid-week BNCA Pink Lady match at our favourite venue Ikon Park between two teams that had not won a game since round one.   After last week’s insipid bombing, the DeeArmy banner correctly deemanded that our players ‘go in hard, go in strong, go in fighting’, and girl they sure did!   The first quarter goals by Alyssa Bannan and Alyssia Pisano were simply stunning, and it was 4 goals to nil by half-time.   Kudos to Mick Stinear.

    REDEEM by Meggs

How will Mick Stinear and his dwindling list of fit and available Demons respond to last week’s 65-point capitulation to the Bombers, the team’s biggest loss in history?   As a minimum he will expect genuine effort from all of his players when Melbourne takes on the GWS Giants at Ikon Park this Thursday.  Happily, the ground remains a favourite Melbourne venue of players and spectators alike and will provide an opportunity for the Demons to redeem themselves. Injuries to star play

    EASYBEATS by Meggs

A beautiful sunny Friday afternoon, with a light breeze and a strong Windy Hill crowd set the scene, inviting one team to seize the day and take the important four points on offer. For the Demons it was not a good Friday, easily beaten by an all-time largest losing margin of 65 points.   Essendon threw themselves into action today, winning most of the contests and had three early goals with Daria Bannister on fire.  In contrast the Demons were dropping marks, hesitant in close and comm

    DEFUSE THE BOMBERS by Meggs

Last Saturday’s crushing loss to Fremantle, after being three goals ahead at three quarter time, should be motivation enough to bounce back for this very winnable Round 5 clash at Windy Hill. A first-time venue for the Melbourne AFLW team, this should be a familiar suburban, windy, footy environment for the players.   Essendon were brave and competitive last week against ladder leader Adelaide at Sturt’s home ground. A familiar name, Maddison Gay, was the Bombers best player with

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out
