36. Aaron Davey [177cm 72kg 10.06.83 - 97 games (15 in 2008) 130 goals (11 in 2008)] – the Demon livewire initially made his impact as a goal kicking half forward who was outstanding in his defensive work such as running down the opposition and effectively applying tackles from behind.

In the past two seasons he has been moved gradually into the midfield but injuries and a drop off in form have seen his output significantly reduced. Injuries have prematurely ended both of those last two seasons – in 2007, he had knee and hamstring problems while this year, he missed the last month with a heel stress fracture.

I'll be brief... gifted, star -quality in abundance, untouchable! Produced goal and mark of the year for MFC in 2008. I look forward to his brilliance lighting up this depressed football club in an injury free run at it in 2009.

And did brilliantly in the Bluey this year. In a truly crap side he could barely muster a vote......Quality in abundance...

Is a key to this side when he is on the park doing something. That occurred maybe 3 times this year.

He was the pioneer of the fast running, pressuring forward. I know people who came to Melbourne games in 2004 and 2005 just to see him at work.

But now many others, including his brother, are either as good or better than him. Our need to inject pace into our pathetic midfield has not helped his cause, but he is slowly losing his aura. Off field indiscretions don't help either.

Off field indiscretions? Like attending a funeral, having a few drinks after it, then turning himself into the club?

Wasn't a great moment in his career, and deserved the week off, but surely you can't say that's hurt him.

It`s a make or break year for Davey IMO. Still a bit suss under pressure. Doesn`t have the aggression for a midfielder. Would rather see him used as an attacking forward where he does his best work.

Didn't he miss a training session as a result? The circumstances are different, sure, but I don't think it would be ignored by the coaches.

But yeah, I guess it's not the biggest factor.

A must keep.

If we trade him, our list will be about as exciting as a Saturday night in Hobart.

Not suggesting that we trade him but I'd like to know where his head is at so far as his footy is concerned. He seemed to have lost some of his zip and the raw energy and enthusiasm he had in his early years at the club. It's a lot harder when the team isn't travelling well but Flash's output has been severely diminished in the past couple of seasons.

Very few players are indispensible and you never know with Davey. That said, it's hard to accept he would be traded given that just a few weeks ago there were efforts made to recruit his brother to the club.

'Abundantly clear' that Davey has not met the footy departments requirements this season.

A must keep.

Speaking from experience there BBP? ;)
