Can we deal with Richmond?

Can the Dee's deal with the Tiger's to gain their Pick 8?

Craig Cameron has mentioned they wont rule out trading for an over 25 player(s). As our ex-recruiting guy he nows our list and could be looking at our Demon's he recruited over the year's.

Any thoughts on a trade to get their Pick 8?

My thought - Bate and Green for Pick 8?

Hmmm..

Bate and Green for 8th pick?? nah thanks..

Bate is pivotal to Bails' plan, and IMO a real big chance to take his game to another level..

Im still amazed at CC, how did he land this job?

Why does no one seem to hold him accountable for our list, what a joke he is..

Anyway, to get pick 8, this year, with concessions coming in, very very tough..

Dumb founded are we Demon fans? Cant anybody come up with something? Or you just want to keep the list we got? Rip down those posters of your heroe's and move on.

Pretty sure that geelong and hawthorn didn't build up thier list by trading away thier most promising kids, they kept confidence in the guys that showed promise, even when they were inconsistent.

Dont throw the baby out with the bath water. Change is needed and it is happening.

Is Bate pivotal to Bailey's plans? I dont know about that one. Was dropped at the end of season. Cant be too pivotal if he cant make a deplorable Demon's side. CC seem's to like him. Took him with our first pick in whatever draft it was.

Hawthorn traded Croad and McPharlin! What do you say about that? Same situation.

yeah it is similar. From memory just after that they went to shite for several years. And ended up getting Croad back for next to nothing.

Did they get a pick for that, and what pick and who was it?

number 1 pick i believe = Luke Hodge and could've been Chris Judd

as for dealing with Richmond, CC is likely to have his views on our players, but at the same time he never watched the MFC train or play much... his job was to be out looking at TAC cup football, watching the kids that were yet to come through... so while like all recruiting managers he would remember a lot about the kids before they were drafted, he wouldn't have in depth knowledge of our players development since...

if anything, CC might have a favourite which he would be willing to pay more than the market rate for...

the club that would have that knowledge is west coast, with ND assuming a football department position there...

They got Pick 1! And picked Luke Hodge. Gun.

Could of even had Juddy if they wanted too!

Hawthorn knew how good the 2003 Draft was and made the hard calls to get what they wanted.

Melbourne have to do the same. The 2008 Draft is full of talent. So we need too trade some riff raff for some top 20 picks. Enough said.

Hodge was taken in the 2001 super draft. Great deal if that was the case. But Hodge is only a piece of the pie and obviously it is 7 years later and they are having thier first crack at a premiership. They have developed thier list mostly from the ground up and traded away a number of thier mid age players for picks, excepting the deal that you mentioned.

We don't need to trade for the no 1 pick, we have it. Hopefully we develop a few stars from our early picks. And hopefully our young guys that are showing a bit become consistent players.

2004- john meesen

2005- jarrad oakley-nicholls

I would take Pick 8. 2008 Draft is a great one! Probably better than 2001. And look who got taken at Pick 8 in 2001. Charlie Bartel! Gun's come from gun drafts. Enough said!

Mate easy with the "enough said". Its a forum, people reply, its how forums work.

I see your point but history says that over 50% of no. 8s are a miss and you want us to trade a good senior player and a genuine up and comer.

Not worth the risk. Trade the senior players and players that we have an oversupply of. That McPharlin/Croad trade happened because at the time the hawks were flush with KPPs.

Bate is the type of player that we may well need in our next finals tilt.

Just like a laugh champ! Thought I would get a reaction. I just have the feeling Bate might not fit in the plans of Bails. MasterBater has turned the world on fire! Has good value still. Especially with Richmond and Carlton I think. Craig Cameron/Brett Ratten and Mark O'Reilly connection.

Hard to believe isn't it? Not a good strike rate at all for Pick 8.. The mind boggles sometimes.

PS. Who was pick 8 in 2007?

Henderson went to Brisbane with pick 8.

I hope Bate is one player that is still a demon in 2009, he has probably played more good games than bad games and he hasn't played 50 games yet. I still think he'll be a very good player i'm not ready to get rid of him because he had a form slump late in the year. I know earlier this year he was a favourite amongst the Melbourne heirachy and I hope they haven't given up on him like many others have.

Totally agreed. Had a late start, Was solid to good in the middle but did trail off. Sore hand or not, he's gotta work thru that.

I think he'll be a goodie.

HEAVEN OR HELL by The Oracle

Clashes between Melbourne and St Kilda are often described as battles between the forces of heaven and hell. However, based on recent performances, it’s hard to get excited about the forthcoming match between these two sides. It would be fair to say that, at the moment, both of these teams are in the doldrums. The Demons have become the competition’s slow starters while the Saints are not only slow to begin, they’re not doing much of a job finishing off their games either. About the only th

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k
