O'Keefe moving south?

Featured Replies

Would have thought 27 was old for a team with no window opening any time soon.. Probably suits Bullies of possibly dare I say it the Filth...Would have been a bonus for the Sainters tonight ;)

Not a lot of sense coming here....just at the present.

Would only take him if he bleeds red and blue.

i would only take him if he was 23 or under, as is our policy.

On the pro side, he's a real Ryan O'Keefe type player.

B) Very good.

Club has already stated they are working on a 5 year plan. In 5 years he is 32, in football years he would be considered almost finished.

O'Keefe could fly south next winter

On the con side, he's 27 and probably won't be part of our next tilt, so it might be somewhat wasteful. I wouldn't bother going for him for that reason.

Will stay in Sydney.

I always saw O'Keefe as more of a Brock Mclean type player haha

Star player, but I guess we can't entertain thoughts regarding anyone over the age of 25. 27 is too old for Melbourne, even if the player is Ryan O'Keefe.

A gun player and very stiff to miss AA. IMO had a better year then Steve Johnson.

But for reasons stated by posters already, he is a no go.

He's a swannie and bleeds red and white. He's just trying to up his price but if he does go to PSD,.

The whole thing smells like a ploy to strengthen his hand in contract negotiations. He won't leave Sydney and won't play for us.

Too old.

Matthew Bate is his clone. They play identical roles.

Ill stick with the 21 year old Bate thanks.

27 and wants 4 years? nope. ;)

Nonsense.

I Love watching Ryan Okeefe. if he was available at a reasnoable price i hope the club would consider him. This Group would love to learn from a Premiership Player. But yes i think he is just upping his price for the Swannies...

Nonsense.

That's not nonsense at all Mono. Bate does play the same role as O'Keefe. The difference is that O'Keefe is about 5 times better than Bate. But Bailey is developing Bate into a half-forward who can push up into the midfield at times.

Correct.

Dont worry. And no matter what I say, Mono will call it nonsense even though its always spot on.

Cant see us being in the mix..

WOuld be an asset IMO, however, id perfer a taller option..

his ruck work is about as good as Paul Johnson's.

What r u talkin about?

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
