Changes for the Cats next week

He's 19, and will be a fantastic acquisition for Melbourne over the years to come. How can you base that on a handful of games!? FWIW its too early to make calls on a 19 year old who is no where near fully developed.

i agree with you. and it is interesting to note that he is only year and a half younger than newton, and has played more games (17 all up). it amazing the number of people willing to write off young KPP when we have no other prospects. everyone expects them to dominate straight away.

Yes, and quick fixes just don't happen once kids are just drafted. They rarely do. Judd being the obvious exception to that rule.

F: P.JOHNSON, GREEN, SYLVIA

I would give Miller at least 1 more week to get over his hammy.

One other consideration might be Ricky Petterd.

As far as I'm aware, there's been no reason given for him not being selected in today's Sandringham team. I'm speculating but perhaps if he isn't injured then the thinking might be to play him on Friday night rather than play today and make his return on a 5 day break.

Good point Jack, I hadn't thought of the shorter week, I didn't think he (petterd) was injured all tho I wondered if he was sore.

scarlett 95kg, harley 95kg, Hunt 100kg, Mackie 84kg, Taylor 91kg. Egan 101kg = Av 94kg

Garland 85kg, Martin 97kg, Warnock 93kg, C Johnson 87kg, Whelan 84kg, Wheately 87kg = Av 88kg

Thats the difference between a top backline and ours. We need to get some serious kilograms on to our backmen. THat is atleast 2 pre-seasons worth.

hopefully Miller is back... i can't believe people don't think we need to add something to our forward line this week...

the cats defence will destroy us if we don't have a strong target back there... even if it's just dutchy sitting in the square, with aussie roving to him, it will be a much better option than pagans paddock with Colin Sylvia playing Wayne Carey, especially against the cats...

Out: Garland, Aussie

In: Miller, Yze.

YZe cant do much more than he is, deserves a chance. Its the perfect stage for him I think.

We could be caught short down back so I'd keep Bell at the expense of Aussie.

Out: Garland (hamstring)

In: Miller

I think Davey will play and Jones will spend one more week at Sandy.

Wish I could get rid of Bell but Petterd is still out.

BP: Whelan Martin Bell

FP: Stokes Lonergan Johnson

HB: CJohnson Warnock Wheatley

HF: Gamble Mooney Selwood

C: Green Dunn Bruce

C: Corey Ling Kelly

HF: Morton Miller Bate

HB: Rooke Scarlett Mackie

FP: PJohnson Sylvia Wona

BP: Harley Hunt Enright

R: Jamar Mcdonald Davey

R: Ottens Ablett Bartel

Inter: Valenti, Bell, Maric, Buckley

Inter: Blake, Varcoe, Prismall

*forgetting someone from Geelong.

Milburn out will help us a fair bit. And is more reason to bring in Miller.

Ive got Ablett coming back, lets hope not.

Assuming Miller is unfit:

Out - Garland (inj.)

In - Frawley

Out - Davey (inj.)

In - Petterd (if fit)

Emergencies: White, Carroll, Bode

Jones didn't have a great game at Sandy, and thus doesn't deserve to come straight back in.

White could be handy rucking with Jamar, so we can leave PJ up forward to give us an extra target. Considering White was BOG for Sandy, I wouldn't be surprised to see him come in.

Ackland kicked 7 on Carroll

ummmm i think thats a slight concern dont you?

As a matchup this one didn't work because Aklands combination of height & legspeed was too good for Carroll.. & Lamb.

Martin would have been perhaps a good matchup, you get that. or maybe Holland should have tried him out.

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last
