Haze, how do you see the Bubbledome as "undeniably the Melbourne Demons" when it will be shared between us, the Storm and possibly a future union team? Not to mention we couldn't even train on it.

Obviously the bubble-dome = melbourne demons identity is not a given but it was my hope that a stable and ongoing presence there as the sole AFL patron of the ground (and thus the only patron that anyone from Victoria really cares about), would do much the same for us as the lexus center has done for Collingwood.

From what I've heard, it's been a poor snow season (notwithstanding the increased snow since our last game, which obviously hasn't impacted on attendance so far).

Unsurprisingly, on-field performance is correlated with crowd attendance at the Dees, like most other sporting Clubs.

Actually, I did enjoy some pretty good coverage at Hotham early last week but given that we played Freo interstate I guess I can't use that as an excuse. It must be the poor on-field performance after all!

1. The main reason I don't want the footy dept back at the 'G is because I want it SOMEWHERE. I feel the whole "MCG is our ground" notion to be deluded and besides which, I think the training facillities will be poor in comparison to the bubble dome. I think that if we establish a homeground that is undeniably Melbourne Demons it will do much to improve our supposed "brand weakness". Ideally this would have been the Lexus center, in the circumstances the bubble dome is best. The MCG will simply "do us slowly" to paraphrase Keating.

2. 106 days in the job 40 under an unsupportive administration. $115,000 down the toilet for what? Ego?

3. 1999-2003: aggregate losses of $8.52 million. Since then? 4 years of profit followed by an admittedly dissapointing projected loss for of $1.5-2m this season (on the back of sharp increases in football operations funding I might add). What would YOU call it?

4. I think you'll find that our record membership came on the back of last years, wait for it, record membership. But thanks very much to Jim for enticing those last few hundred to come on board this year. (Something he could have done when he was not on the board I might add).

1.What makes you think the facilties at the MCG would be inferior to those at the soccer/rugby stadium being built over the road fom the HOME ground of the MFC? Having the footy dept back at the MCG saves us alot of money, is still close to Gosch's Paddock and ties us back to our home and surely that's the best identity for us. We would be the only club that would have such facilities at the MCG.

2.Not EGO, well maybe McNamee's, but he was sacked because he didn't share the same vision as the new board. If chasing JBrown and tieing us to the dwindling, unhelpful elite is his key plank then I for one am glad he's gone.

3. They wiped $3 million of the debt. If you compare that to the economic performance of any other club in the competition over the same period I think you'll find we're last on that ladder as well. Hardly an achievement to hang your hat on.

4. Over 2500 new members since Stynes arrived, almost 10% of our membership, not a few hundred as you suggest.

5. Absolutely it is. Just look at Norm Smith for an example of how important it is to bleed for your club. Never talk this down even from your obviously lofty perch. Doing so shows you lack the understanding of what it is to be truly passionate about something. The only way this club is going to thrive is if everyone becomes or is already passionate about it.

Let's not have a go at fellow supporters. Just becuase one person's vision differs from another does not mean they're any less passionate about the MFC.

Let's have a debate by all means, but don't belittle fellow supporters.

We are in this together and if we all realise that, we will get through this tough period.

See, I saw no "attack" there. Perhaps a different view of the facts, but no attack.

I was once on a MFC marketing sub-committee. I made the suggestion that we needed "ambassadors" and a recently retired Jimmy Stynes would be a perfect candidate. A person who was then a Board Member (and who shall reamin nameless on this forum of course) scoffed at me and said words to the affect, we may as well bring back Garry Lyon and Todd Viney as well.

I made the point to this certain Board Member, that in the case of Jim Stynes, even opposition clubs and supporters love him and he would be a great "face" and marketing asset to the MFC, in terms of attracting sponsors and supporters alike.

In my view, in the long term, that still holds true today, now that Jimma is Chairman.

We will make it through this.........there is no doubt in my mind.

Let the plebs out there scoff as much as they like. They can turn up their stereotypes to their hearts content.

If we can get a similar standard of facilities to the new stadium in the refurbished southern stand why wouldn't we want them? They would be at our home, we wouldn't have to share them with other entities and they would be cheaper according to reports. I think the push from some to stick to our original plan of buying into the new stadium facilities is borne out of the frustration of having to wait around even longer than anticipated to have our new arrangements in order. Of course, I totally understand this frustration. But IF we are able to move gym, pool facilities etc into the Southern Stand and IF it is in fact cheaper common sense suggests we simply must be patient and wait that little bit longer. If you think you're frustrated imagine how the players must feel!
