Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Jesus.

I hate Richmond more than any club, but I can't seem to find a cloud within this particular silver lining.

If you see him in round 22, walk up to him, and shake his hand.

The only silver lining was the case that held the $10K in cash. Unbelievable. He was from Werribee. A good town I must say, littered with high class restaurants...

G.Lyon was stoked. Luke Hodge and Sam Newman could not believe it. A good kick start before the month of August.

Can we get the name of the eatery? I'd quite happily visit it and put a few dollars back in his pocket in appreciation.

Not sure if he gave it a name.....I think he mentioned its going to be in Station Place - Near the Railway Station I presume. I might visit it one day to shake his hand. I'll say I'm a Melbourne Supporter - "Can you give me a free meal?"

Well the most ironic thing about this amazing gesture, is that he was using it to plug his restaurant in Werribbee, which isnt even going to be open for another couple of months!

Good on him.

If I'm out that way, I'll make an effort to go there.

I bought a Bulldogs membership when they were on the brink a few years ago and i bought a Kangaroos membership in February.

While i love the Dees,i'm a footy lover in general and i do admire other teams and when they need help, why not chip in,what goes around, comes around and when we're in trouble, supporters from other teams will chip in and help us.

What pisses me off is the AFL has $100 million in the future fund and they always want 2-3 Victorian teams struggling,so they can relocate them ($100 million package for the Kangaroos to go to the Gold Coast, all debt is wiped) and relocate a team to West Sydney.

When the TV networks paid $780 million for the TV rights,Demetriou said "this will guarantee the survival of all 16 AFL clubs".Now Melbourne and Kangaroos are on the brink and they won'y give us a bigger slice of the TV rights revenue.

The 16 clubs put on the show and each club should be given $millions more from the $780 Million but Demetriou wants to keep it out of reach in this future fund and keep a couple of teams on the brink, then offer a $100 million package to relocate!!!!!!!!

With the $780 million from the TV rights,no club should ever struggle again.

It has been mooted, that the AFL should wipe the Bulldogs, Kangas and Demons debt with $14 million or something. Because they have the money. WHilst Demetriou said that the TV Rights deal will 'guarantee' the survival of all 16 clubs, I don't believe him. They should start a clean slate before the 17th and 18th teams come in - IMO.

First off what a great gesture by that man! I hope the Demons send the players down along with the Tigs players to the opening of his place as a massive thank you for the money....

HT that is great in theory, I would think the AFL's issue with wiping debts is that it is not sustainable... The clubs in trouble need to have a clear business plan going forward that will make sure we are not in this position again other wise clearing the debt is for nothing. What will happen in 2 years time when we have a $4mil debt again if the AFL clear it.

One thing we have kept hearing for succesive MFC boards is they are going to put things in place so we become succesful off the field and we have not been able to do it as yet. Jimmy and this board need to do it or we are gone. With the help of the Dees supporters we need to clear the debt and have our plans in place going forward.

GO DEES

A big thank you to the guy who gave us the $10K.

However what this says to me is that supporters DON'T WANT MORE TEAMS IN THE AFL!!! Andrew Demetriou and the AFL need to stop adding more teams into the AFL to get more profit. The AFL should add a Gold Coast and a Tassie team and then put a stop to the expansion of the AFL. If it doesn't stop the AFL will have to get rid of Victorian teams with a low amount of members and supporters and Melbourne is one of those clubs.

If you aren't a MFC member it is time to get on board, if you want to see Melbourne around in the future.

GO DEES!!!

I think the new teams will definately benefit the game once they develop a two or more generation supporter-base (i.e. parents and their kids), but until then, I hope the AFL as a whole stays strong, including some of the smaller Clubs.

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
