Tomorrow's Herald Sun will supossedly have a story confirming Jim Stynes taking over the presidency next week. Good luck to Jim, a very passionate person who seems to make things happen.

Full credit to Gardiner for his handling of this, as good a change over as there could be.

agreed d_k.

Gardner has been a fantastic servant for the football club over the last couple of years. We may seem to be in off-field strife at the moment, but it was much much worse before he came in.

I welcome the change, and thank Gardner for his efforts.

I do wonder if they'll say anything about this at the dinner tonight if it's true??

You'd imagine they probably will with the article in tomorrow's paper, might even be a nice touch as Jim will be in the 150 no doubt.

At last we get to see what the great man's vision is and how he hopes we'll get there. Ought to be interesting reading .

Am looking forward to reports from tonight too.

I wonder what time it will wrap up.

lol..what exactly were you expecting to be heritage listed.. Places/Things are listed..

we're a club !! :huh::unsure:

Seems as though the rumour that we would be heritage listed has so far been proved false..... i hope im wrong :(

At this stage we've heard no big announcement, which we were expecting.

It seems no one from the function has arrived home yet, so we will see what they report when they do.

sorry..how could I doubt W-Jacka !! ffs

You either Heritage list a physical entity..and then it has a certain protection regarding change..or you can recognise list an Organisation. The latter does stop it ceasing to exist..just recognition goes on. Either it doesnt apply or is of no use. Sounds like a crock of the proverbial to me.

As far as I've been told all will be revealed in a month....

How can Stynes become President (I assume Chairman of the board) if he has not been duly elected into the board by the membership? His 'ticket' can be endorsed, but others could stand against him. So, it is all a bit premature to say what he will be, until the process is resolved (unless you are Mugabe).

I will welcome him as the new Chairman when this time comes, and I think he will bring some excellent qualities to the club.

I would also like to say that I think the board have actually been doing a pretty good job under trying circumstances recently. I think the concept of the move to Casey (securing growth), and getting changes in key appointments, will certainly deliver benefits in the future. We don't see it now because the on field performance and the debt make us look like no-hopers. Remember where the Kangaroos were 12 months ago? They did a good job of digging themselves out of the mire.

We have to do the same, or better, and to ensure that when 'hard' decisions are made by the AFL, that we are not the current 'basket case' (the doggies, the roos, the hawks,....all have been there...maybe it will be the saints or bombers???).

We have no time to lose. We must get an increase in supporter base and memberships, as well as more cash at the gates and merchandise sold. To get this we need better on-field performances and less 'soft [censored]' supporters.

Go Dees!

and the plan is ...??

is this the great article ??

Is there more than this..do I need to go spend money on cocky cage lining ??

Well thinkig I must have missed something as I read all available on line at the Herald..I succombed and got the old fashioned version. I I pais my money happily enough , got home, coffee made and sat down to read the news. The news we'd all heard via the media.. how Jimmy Stynes is going to save the club, to read of his vision to undersatand and hop on board the way forward.

Well even after two cups I couldnt find it. Just a lot of air written by journos ..absolutely no substance. Now I know that cant be the manifesto of the great man. I do rate Jimmy. A great clubman whose credentials as a Demon no one could question. We also hear of his success in other fields. He is for all arguments a top bloke and so it was with great interest i was curious to see his idea of the way forward.

I'm still none the wiser. Did I miss something? Did my paper have a section missing ?

Now I know there surely has to be more to it thab this..but what is it ??

Anyone know ?? I just want to understand..is that too much

You have been particularly persistent with this questioning and noone knows more than you. Stynes' plan is not yet available, you'll have to wait like the rest of us.

Why..is was touted al lshall be revealed today..where is it.

And yes Ill be bloody pig headed about this.

Oh why boither..hey..not an important subject is it.. nothing of interest here is there??

Jesuz bllody Christ..We are at teh cross roads. Despite many positve things the gods seem alligned agaisnt us. A new trainging / admin venue..only nearly 3 years (at present behind ). An allignment of similar enterprises called team Melbourne, better know today as Team Fizzer. The AFL breathing down our neck and putting on busses for the media to join in !!

No nothing important about the change at the top is there ??

I geuinely hope that JS has something in mind..even more I hope it works.

Am I inclined to take anything more on blind faith..? NO.. Id like a little substance to back it.

Id liek him to tell me and the other 27 thousand odd what his ideas are.

It seems inevitable he will take over next week. I hope to get an email form the club explianing it all.

I deserve it...you deserve it..we all deserve it. We DONT desereve to be treated like evangelistic mushrooms expected to consume any old thing and pray furtively but to unknown deities !!

I dont think its good enough..

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
