The real test for North will be in the following years. I doubt they will be able to sustain those figures which arose from the desperate situation the were in. Many memebers would have more than one membership, people from other clubs have bought in (heard from many talkback callers). Time will tell.

Easy on praising North Melbourne's marketing.

About 5,000 of those memberships are 'statistically anomolous' children memberships.

In other words, not a big growth in adult members, just a whole lot of people signing up their kids as official members (and dogs, and turtles). It could go either way - those kids (and dogs and turtles) could hold on and become a boosted next generation of supporters and members, or the boost could just evaporate once the membership-buying from the "fightback" has subsided.

They haven't had anywhere near as much of a boost to attendences. It's a little worrying.

Meanwhile, what da farkn ell is going on at the Doggies?

If I'm reading that right, WE have just passed them for memberships, with one win for the season (and pre-season) compared to their loss-less run with exciting attacking football and a thrilling draw for spice.

All, up, we're doing better than I'd expected, almost matching last year's membership already, and our attendences haven't been too bad (still on 30,000 average after three games, despite two low-drawing opponents, Doggies and Freo).

Should look a little healthier after the Hawks game, too. Special Bonus for round 9 - neither Melbourne (playing at AAMI) nor Hawthorn (playing at Aurora) play in Melbourne the previous week, plus theres the gap for the Origin game, so a lot of people will be hungry to get to a game.

Should be a good crowd. Let's hope we can put a good fight up over in Adelaide to keep the momentum going.

Slightly OT - but I possess a North Membership (Also a Dees one of course) and will continue to purchase although I'm 100% Red & Blue and was filthy after our loss in Round 4.

North are a good club and part of the reason I bought the membership was that I wouldn't like it if the AFL tried to make such a move on us. The AFL's standover tactics sending out lies about the benefits of immediate expansion through their attack muppets Messrs Smith & Co in the media just reeked of arrogance and smacked of AD trying to create a legacy for himself (When did 2015 turn into 2011??).

Interestingly anyone notice the bottom two clubs (and the states they hail from) on the #2 post tally?

Back On Topic - our membership tally is impressive given our poor start and reputation for having fickle supporters. Hopefully will shut a few of the clowns in the media up.

Why would you waste your money? Melbourne membership numbers have been low for years, why not spend that spare cash on a second MELBOURNE membership? I did. Let North supporters worry about North, we have our own problems.

Demitriou wants the Kangaroos to survive in Melbourne ahead of the Dees. & He is a Nth Melb ex player..

If it's out of us & them, Demitiou would send us packing in a heartbeat, & your helping him.

AD has no sense of history. loathes us for being old. in his world the teams would all be "western suburbs combined timberwolves"; "northern heat"; "parramatta jazz". forget that we started this whole thing!

How about buying 2 Melbourne memberships instead. Screw North and look after your own backyard first!

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had
