  1. One went down in the first, the other in the second. So average that to 28 disposals for the game (averages out to one quarter played) = quite a loss when you give 28 disposals to those you selected to play (below afl kicking efficiency). Plus you will be bringing in inferior players. None of the vfl guys have Kents speed. None of the vfl guys lockdown as well as Jetta (nearly AA last year don't forget - a lot on here wanted him to get it). Be interesting to see who they pick.
  2. If we bring in another ruckman, then they will put McPharlin or Clark on him. Both are fast, both provide plenty of drive off the backline. Unless we leave the ruckman on the bench we will be too top heavy up forward and our pressure will be more like round two. I like the idea of a second ruckman but it's not going to work out well this week because of their fast big backmen. Another midfielder or bust. Plus the weather is meant to be wet on the weekend. See you all there go dees!
  3. The channel 7 footy show said scans revealed its 8-10 similar to dal santo and that means may need surgery - is going to have more scans. If Dom goes and we have 3 ins I'm worried about the team, if watts gets dropped as posters ask for we bring in 4 sub afl standard players. I really like our team but I feel we have a best 22 and not a single other vfl player is suitable at this stage as a replacement. Previous years we haven't even had an afl team so it's a great change. But the more changes the less confident in the result I will be each week. Watts will play every game this year unless injured (just too good even when playing bad compared to every vfl player in my point of view. Clearly michie and brayshaw are starting 22 this week with injuries. So 1 player comes in to be sub and the other comes in to be either a half forward (Kent), or a small back defender (Jetta) or another rucking option (believing Dawes is not enough). Go dees
  4. Especially early the handballing was poor. Glad someone has raised this post. Even jones missed a few easy handballs over a target. If we improve these basic skill errors we will improve much more.
  5. Or we back jamar to take them both on and play a small instead and hope that gives us an advantage (only need Dawes to nullify Clark..
  6. Ps rance looked disinterested tonight.. Maybe he is gone? Worried about depth to cover too!
  7. Getting excited!!! Struggling to work today (time is going too slow)!!! I think with Richmond playing a few newbies means Brayshaw has more of a chance starting rather than being the sub. As for the sub most seem to think JKH or Michie (i have a feeling it may be JKH).
  8. Melbourne website has the first 2 quarters up (not sure if mentioned yet). After watching those quarters i feel a lot better about keeping Dawes and Watts in the team (will never get dropped). We really have our best 22 playing AFL. Looking forward to Friday night Go DEES!
  9. Im sure North Melbourne or Essendon will be interested #re-use #recycle
  10. I think it is possible. We would need some injury luck, some natural improvement from most of the younger players and the older players to maintain their current abilities. Of course it would be great to recruit one younger player from another team (GWS etc.) to further improve our chances for next year. Even the Adelaide match shows we had chances & maybe if we had of had another 12 months of playing together some of those sillier mistakes (us kicking to a 2v1 in our favor and kicking it to their 1 sort of stuff, or JKH getting run down etc) would not happen as much. What we still need: 1) another 2 b+ midfielders (trade/draft/Petracca) 2) Ruckman to replace Jamar (be it at the end of this year or next). Gawn has the talent and height, but reminds me of an under performing jack watts at times. 3) Chris Dawes to have a fantastic marking year (or another forward). Go Dees
  11. I dont think his value has dropped either way. He has had 2 years in the system with AFL experience. If we took the pick to the draft we would need to develop a midfielder to get him to this stage etc.. Unless you get a cfreak like ollie wines. If it was 5 years in and he was a regular in and out player then his value would drop.
  12. I like the idea of it but i cant see us playing two ruckman, unless its Gawn and Jamar. Gawn kicked 1.4 on the weekend and rucked well. Spencer rucked well, but what does he offer up forward (nothing)? I think either Gawn/Pedo or Watts will be in Spencer's position (i hope Dawes is the second ruck so we go with more of a running team (as mentioned earlier richmond only has 2 tall forwards, so they will apply a lot more pressure I50, and i want us to be able to do the same up the other end).
  13. Even that 2v1 effort to get the ball to Hogan for a goal on reflection was a little disappointing. He jumped and in mid air turned his body to protect himself without ever trying to mark the ball (watch the replay like i did yesterday - even the commentators pointed it out).. It was luck that it bounced up into his lap afterwards.. I want him jumping aggressively into that contest when he is in a good position like that and putting his hands up. It just looks soft (which we all know he is). Big game this week (hopefully its dry)! Go dees
  14. Just watching North vs port and wow Goldstein is exactly what a ruckman should be. His follow up tackles and lots of possessions etc.. Unfortunantly jamar is the best tap ruckman we have and the others don't get enough of it around the ground to justify their inclusion .
  15. I wonder if they will drop one of watts/Dawes? With frost injured (possible brake)? That may save them both. Worth bringing in Gawn/pederson? I like the idea of Gawn. I think Newton, vandenburg and Bradshaw will rarely get 20+ possessions this year, but next year they will all benefit from this continued exposure to afl level intensity (wish they would though)! I'm looking forward to next week! Bring on the tigs!! #goingnomatterwhat!!
  16. I like Dawes, but he isn't even getting the team's no1 defender. Hogan had Davis all game last week, dawes had Nick Haynes or some other defender with long blond hair who hurt his leg but played the game out on dawes. If it was nick he had 11 disposals (47 fantasy points), Chris had 12 disposals (56 fantasy points). I like the IDEA of what Dawes can do for hogan by taking the No1 defender, but the thing is he isn't at this stage. HOGAN looks and is a lot more exciting and damaging. So if the premise is that Dawes takes the best defender then we need to re-think this. Just a thought, but even though Gawn has started poorly, he is more likely to get the better defender purely because of his size. SO would Gawn in the goal square be better than 'GOLD' for Hogan? I don't know the answer, just hope Dawes can pick up his game this week (he had 5 marks last week, so not bad).
  17. I feel, that it will have to be the "doggies type of maniac run and handball" to get through (e.g. they press up hard, so if we can carry for 20 m then kick we might be able to break the lines allowing garlett and kent to speed towards goal etc).. Slow play and they have time to adjust the press, but if we run and create chaos then surely their structures will fail (only problem is how will our disposal efficiency be effected)?
  18. I just think about me if i had a supplement program and say it was legal and it actually worked. If i left the club would i then go "no i don't want to keep a copy of my successful program, to help inform my decision making or to base my next program off" instead ill leave every single document at my old employer.. On SEN this morning the two andies were saying he created an excel file of it after a period of time, if i had an excel file of course i would've kept a copy.. i would likely have kept multiple copies because what if one goes missing?? #hesgettingawaywithit
  19. Yep agreed, and really Tyson needs to work on his tackling and kicking efficiency (can kick for goals really well) and Salem just on his ability to accumulate the ball when playing midfield. Apart from that both have achieved Roosies mandate of increasing the amount of talent we get in for draft picks
  20. Good a slow midfielder hopefully in replace of B smith . Put Chunk on him and hopefully he gets a lot of the ball
  21. I sort of have that hope in the back of my head, but i feel we aren't that reliable yet..
  22. Hey moonshadow, Funny thing was Bradshaw was quoted at 2.81s over 20m making him the fastest player on our list. I didn't believe these figures (and still don't but other posters disagreed with me and said no he's fast.. (I quoted Lewis Jetta and Gary rohans speeds at the time of draft camp which was about 2.91s.. Watch petraccas highlights, he's explosive over 5m (I like the Dangerfield comparison) & and someone else on this site mentioned that vandenburg is one of the fastest guys at the club now (but he's all fast twitch and needs to build endurance)! So from what I've read and been told on here I would say that they are all exactly what we need speed wise (without having tested them myself - which I have done in the past (formerly did national talent id testing and worked for the eastern ranges u18 squad as fitness conditioning squad). I really hope other posters are right about their speed!
  23. I think that Petracca is going to be a lot better than Brayshaw. I can see him as our Bont (without having played a game)! Pre-season Jones was so impressed with him (remember that interview he did and was talking about the size of this kid etc). I see him and hogan as the two most exciting prospects on the list. His numbers speak for themselves in the TAC cup (just a reminder of what we have next year coming in): 2014 - 20 goals in 9 games 2013 - 41 goals in 17 games with an average of six and a half marks a game. With Vic metro he averaged 25 disposals a game & was named the best player (http://www.afl.com.au/news/2014-11-24/meet-christian-petracca - "plays like dustin martin and ollie wines combined"). He regularly racks up above 20 touches and many of his marks are contested. Him and hogan are going to be our superstar contested players. I was shattered when he went down, but it has opened the way for vandenburg.. so that next year we will have vandenburg, brayshaw and petracca rotating through the midfield = big strong Fremantle esk midfielders
  24. Brayshaw is our tackling machine so that solves the need to bring in Mckenzie
