  1. Full stats below: Player Mt D K H G M T CL EFF% McCartin, Patrick 3 8 6 2 2 4 1 0 60.9 Wright, Peter 5 12 6 5 1 4 2 2 82.8 Key points that i take from this table and what i have read: McCartin was coming back from injury before champs, Wright wasn't. Wright played both ruck and forward. Handballs alone pretty much sum up the difference between the players number of disposals. McCartin kicked a lot of behinds which are not listed for some silly reason. Has anyone reported if the EFF% is only kicking? if it includes handballs then that may also explain the large difference in efficiency. Therefore, Wright's time in the midfield (as ruck) would increase his numbers. With handballs possibly contributing to the larger number of disposals and the efficiency of these. The efficiency statistic may also be a reflection of their goal kicking efficiency with McCartin's inability to kick straight decreasing his efficiency. But i see this as a positive at least he is having multiple shots at goal (id say he would average 2 goals 4 behinds a week). Wright probably 1 goal 1 behind. In the end i want an aggressive key forward if we are to draft one i would chose McCartin (i can't make a judgement on who is actually better as i haven't seen either play live). GO DEES Cheers
  2. If we get one that would do us wonders! Can we re-contract Jonesy for this year as well? My thinking is that if we need to offer overs next year, why not re-think his contract to cancel this last year and start on a new 5 year deal where its heavily front loaded for this year (1.5mil say for 2014, then have him on 4-600k every year after). Surely the AFL would say its alright as he is not loosing out and its his right to change his contract if its for his benefit?
  3. With Roosey bidding pick two, that puts him as the second best talent in the draft i would suggest! Pity Melbourne isn't in a position to start up an academy like this (didn't someone suggest NT as a location to set up an academy)?
  4. I am so thankful for these newer highlights.. the old ones had him looking like a spud (first 7ish disposals were to no1 or a turnover from that old clip)! This is all lace out stuff which is nice to know he can actually do that. Much happier at the thought of drafting him.
  5. Just thinking that Goodwin said he is a big believer in building the culture of a footy club. From all reports Lever is a fantastic leader and if i was a coach trying to build culture and i rated McCartin and Lever the same, i would then take Lever over McCartin due to his leadership (which hopefully translates into building the right culture at the club).
  6. I hate highlights, they don't show much so hard to judge. I would suggest Roos would not be interested due to height?
  7. I don't think so from all the interest shown in him on trade radio etc (i'd say 14-18 he will go as a random guess).
  8. I'm just worried that Both Wright and McCartin play on much smaller and lighter key position defenders in the TAC cup - inflating their true value (no flooding so only 1v1 contests, e.g. 203cm+102kg vs 190cm+80kg = not fair). What happens when they get put against players the same size as themselves? Will they excel or will they turn into a mediocre forward (Lucas Cook). The bonus is that they are both big and heavy already (nothing like Watts). The other issue i see is that dawes 193, hogan 194 and McCartin 194cm are all the same height, do we need a variety? I don't actually know. And Roos would take Heeney first i reckon if he had a choice of midfielders
  9. I think he will spend more time around the midfield. Be interesting to see how it all pans out with ins and outs!
  10. I would want Geelongs pick 33 as well (35 now i think). Mitch Clark is worth more than 7 ish positions in the draft.
  11. We won't find out until the paperwork for Frawley gets submitted to the AFL. I expected it to be today, but hasn't gone in yet..
  12. Western bulldogs just got 2nd round for Higgins (so pick 26). To me that says we are looking good for first round (pick 3). http://www.afl.com.au/afl-hq/the-afl-explained/free-agency
  13. Do you mean agility? 20m sprint times of 2.9 or less seconds is fast..
  14. AFL trade radio said melbourne could trade pick 2&3 to collingwood for Beams, and then trade Beams to Brisbane for pick 4 and Merrett. Im like LOL! I don't think they thought it through too much. I like merrett as a defender (remember he has great speed and is a monster size wise as a defender), but his age 30, makes me want to go for frost with a late pick (3rd/4th round).
  15. http://www.afl.com.au/news/2014-09-28/hawks-may-tempt-frawley Article that says nothing really. I would expect him to go to Hawthorn. I wish him well (be funny if he cant get a spot with Lake saying he want sto play on (in the Hun today). But the year after he would get in. - Could he even have a Sylvia to Freo sort of year if so?
  16. Lol - Collingwood think that Adelaide will accept what they wont accept for Beams.. #typicalpies
  17. Yes but to be fair he has had to play as the No1 target when he has played.. SEN were saying Carlton as the front runner last night.. He'd be their 3rd tall, hence third defender, I could see that actually working.
  18. This could also be an opportunity for a 3 way trade.. No idea of how it would work though.
  19. I would do pick 2+3 for Dangerfield and their first pick (maybe a swap of later picks too to get in a better position).. But id be waiting to see what other clubs offer and then we can trump it if its worth it (maybe pick 2 and second round alone could do it etc).
  20. In regards to blease for Robinson talk. Malthouse came out and said (as reported on SEN a while back) he will be delisted if we cant find a trade for him. So pick 100 should do it. or if we plan to delist Blease a straight swap. This should be very simple to figure out.
  21. I feel that the same point could be argued about us (with Clark going?). We have Dawes and Hogan. Fitz doesn't use his size and pace well, Gawn the same (both have upside, but so do StKilda's younger forwards coming through). So Riewalt(unbelievable still)+Stanley (a better fitzy) versus Hogan (untried-could be gun)/Dawes(cannot 1 grab a thing). Sure nick is old, but he has 2 more years to go. On top of this: 1) Last year Petracca did very well as a key forward behind Boyd and that other guy (was it Apness). So he would be a great third/4th sized tall. 2) Saints are keen on GWS Jaksch at 196cm.. if they get him without swapping pick 1 for another pick, then they may be more likely to take petracca. I don't know what i want to be honest. I like Mitchell from the swans (pick 2 or 3), or take both Petracca and Brayshaw as options or McCartin/one of them as our key position stocks are low. Bring on trade week
  22. Funny about Boomer (not sure if has been posted already), Schwartz on SEN on friday i think it was said he will get reported.. I can't believe he was right haha!
  23. From what i saw he was ballantine mark 2. Disappointing to hear that they laughed at the thought of him.. Watch his highlights, better than most i saw from the carnival.
  24. http://www.afl.com.au/news/2014-08-22/demons-dont-deserve-a-priority-pick GWS - "We would say that Melbourne doesn't deserve another pick, because then where does it stop?" I think this quote says it all.. Imagine all the priority pics being handed out in the next few years because of us getting one.. Wait no other club has got a record like ours, they may in 5-6 years if they keep loosing. I think it would've been more rationale to argue this: "where does it start?, Melbourne has been on the bottom for __ years and if anyone deserves one they do. If they don't get one then i can't realistically see anyone else ever getting one!"
  25. Bored so had a bit of a plug and play with the current dee/ hawks forwards and eagles defenders to match for height (see above). I found it interesting that dawes is 5kg heavier than roughhead.. Both gawn and dawes really shouldn't ever get beater 1v1 being so heavy.. (which hits on the fast ball movement to a 1v1). Unfortunately both Gawn and Dawes seem to mark best when leading, not when stationary (in my point of view). E.g. gawn in a 1v1, almost seems to be bent over trying to wrestle so loses any height advantage most of the time (he probably need to bend over to get a forearm in the back as its that far down to an opponents back).
