  1. If jordie isn't delisted at the end of the year as many have thought, i wonder then who will be instead? have to make 3 changes at least so its getting harder and harder to delist guys now which is great
  2. I like that three of our mid-poor kicks finish first, second and third haha. But it also shows that Bail and McKenzie are are at least trying and who knows what may happen this year (i am one who thinks jordie would be lucky to get a game, but this is a good start for him). Go dees
  3. I hope the results fall the way we all want them too
  4. I was thinking that with Gawn in the side playing deep forward the opposition would need to put the best defender on him (due to his height). Hogan will run whoever he gets off his feet and dawes will get the 2nd defender. I know what you are saying about slow, Gawn doesn't have the best follow up, but as mentioned on other threads our ball movement didn't allow us to take advantage of his height or ability to make a contest 1v1 at least.. with garlett and co around our forwards feet + better midfield movement of the ball i would be less worried about this. Also sweet dee i like what you are thinking, but Gawn would be unlikely to be played in the ruck if spencer is available too. whenever he goes VFL he seems to spend most of the time forward, if spencer gets injured i could see that happening though..
  5. I think its because he started as a forward when he had a bit more weight to him before he became a midfielder. So my guess is that the authors of the article are taking the same approach they have with petracca I.e., first year more time forward as getting used to AFL (if he plays).
  6. Getting excited at the idea of Petracca and Hogan both playing round 1 in the forward line. Both don't drop the ball and seem to be strong 1v1. Sure Petracca may not play but i likethe thought of it (clean footballers). Thanks for all the reports guys, keep them coming
  7. 13 of 20 matches in the best. Most goals in a match in 2014 was 4 http://www.foxsportspulse.com/team_info.cgi?action=PSTATS&pID=192877761&client=1-8334-112666-204047-16755857
  8. 100% agreed. We need it and its about time we delivered in round one. Imagine what it would do for the team... P.s. folowed link and membership at 22433
  9. Any other data on him? Im sure the MFC will put stuff up. Happy to see hes 190cm a good start! is he fast? good kick? etc
  10. I remember when he first started and he was a great rebounding half back. his natural instict was to mark ball and naturally roll around and go straight away.. thats what he was good at.. maybe with a forward line he may be able to do that more?
  11. http://boundforglorynews.com/2014-afl-draft-gradings/ Sorry if already posted, quite happy to read this sort of stuff over and over again!
  12. Plus only Gawn can play in the same team as any of the other rucks (and he is a little in and out). I'm happy not to pick a ruck in the rookie draft.
  13. Also, (even though i said it can't be correct) all the articles said Brayshaw is 2.81secs over 20 m, which makes him the fastest guy on our list and in the top 5 on all lists. Combined with petracca who is also fast, i would say we have drafted speed in this draft then (if that is correct lol).
  14. Just modified your team HH: B - Neville Jetta - Sam Frost* - Lynden Dunn HB - Heritier Lumumba - Tom McDonald - Jeremy Howe C - Bernie Vince - Dom Tyson - Jimmy Toumpas* HF - Christian Petracca - Cam Pedersen - Dean Kent F - Max Gawn - Jesse Hogan - Jeff Garlett R - Mark Jamar - Jack Viney - Nathan Jones I/C - Daniel Cross - Viv Michie - Jack Watts - Angus Brayshaw Swapped: -Garland for frost - havent seen frost play live, but like him over garland as id like to see someone with that size and speed playing in the backline (garland was our best defender like 3 years ago so he could easily be back in - pre-season will tell). -JKH for Toumpas - Toumpas can kick, he can run, he trains as hard as cross.. i have a great feeling about him this year (especially with Hogan in to give him that target who can & will mark anything in front of him [still have flashbacks to the Geelong pre-season game last year]). Also, Brayshaw and Michie are the two most likely to not be in the team if Roos was to drop anyone, although i like them both and want them in the team. Round 2: drop pederson for Dawes. Go Dees
  15. Yea the Hun first reported it and said: "Brayshaw still must boost his endurance but recruiters are buoyed by his 20m sprint times, which Brayshaw said have dropped from 3.15sec to an elite 2.81." I still think its amazing that he can increase his speed so much.. That sort of improvement shouldn't be realistic in my mind, even with a sprint coach. If it is real MFC should be recruiting that coach and getting him to work on all the list.. His highlights also don't show anywhere near that much speed (if he was that fast, he would be unlikely to be caught by anyone). To put this into perspective, 20 m sprint times for Gary Rohan (2.93 sec) and Lewis Jetta (2.95 se) are significantly slower. So just want supporters to be mindful that it is probably a miss quote that every media outlet and draft prediction guru has jumped on board with. If he is sub 3.00 seconds great, but there is no way he is that fast or even close to it in my mind (love him to be though haha). Go dees
  16. I'd Love to know where this 2.81s value came from (as in i have read it on several draft profiles, but i can't help but think its a clear mistake). For example, Dean kents fastest 20m sprint time was about 2.9 seconds. He is very fast in my eyes. Petracca tested above 3.00 second at the draft combine (i think - but didn't really read much on this) and he is meant to be explosive. If brayshaw was even close to sub 3.00 seconds id be happy.
  17. That's if Ablett is back round one.. The set back sounded quite bad.. If he isn't playing wonder what the odds will be
  18. Having thought it was probably a good pick up getting Newton, i'm starting to think Gillies all over again.. Hope im wrong, But agree completely with you (Riley too). Unless purposely holding back (which the report doesnt seem to indicate), how will either keep up with any of the elite midfielders in the comp (or better yet out-run)? He would be a liability to Roosey's two way (fatiguing) defensive running game... Does anyone know if he has any speed at least (we don't really want slow and fatiguing players)?
  19. I like the look of the team, but i think its too forward/back player first focused (a few more midfielders first in the team perhaps?). At the very least i would not have two talls (garland and pederson) on the bench & in the team (one has to go in my view for another midfielder (e.g. Cross from sub and one of the new draftees or Michie in). Also I wonder how Garland will go this year, injury crippled his year it seemed last year.. On newton - apart from that last kick to wines in the video didn't see to much to really excite me yet. Bring on the practice games to see how he really goes:)
  20. Yep with Newton we currently only have 2 list sports available on our primary list. If we pay someone out (e.g. evans/mckenzie debate) we would have an additional spot to use pick 40. If we then wanted to use pick 53 as well (and upgrade Jetta with a later pick) we would need to pay out 2 contracted players. I believe that is where our list currently stands.
  21. I wonder if Goodwin gets any say? Obviously Roos has said its up to the Recruiters (Taylor and Co), but im sure Roos would have his own ideas (which he might discuss with taylor) and then Goodwin is taking over eventually so surely he may want a particular player too.. Exciting either way (hurry up draft)!
  22. My only reason needed was Jesse Hogan. He could be anything (or nothing if injuries continue), but boy am i excited to see him play! I understand what you are saying though.. We really need a star free agent next year to brighten things up.. Go Dees
  23. We would take Wright because he is also a forward - but i'd prefer McCartin for his aggression
