The article indicates that's what the road block is. I can't see it myself as Port want picks for this year more than anything.

The Ruck Conundrum
It wouldn't surprise me at all if we tried to get him before he re-signed with the bummers. We have to remember: a) slim pickings on offer for rucks b) Melb is not a desirable location for rucks with the offer being to hang around in the VFL as Max's back-up. I have no doubt we're trying but we're trawling a small pool.

Petty Re-Signs for 2 Years
If true, this is brilliant! By re-signed do we mean extended to '27? If not true, Tommy can suck a fat one (again)!

CASEY: Rd 17 vs Frankston
I've been of the view that Jack Bell wasn't AFL material. Lacking in mobility, ruck smarts and the required skill set, but I've gotta hand it to him, he played very well today and made me have a little rethink.

Comings and Goings
Yep, I saw the interview about him being determined to enjoy his footy in 2024. It sounded like he didn't think his body was capable of another season but you never know.

Comings and Goings
Will Verrall signed a new deal? I'm pretty sure Hunter's contract finishes this year and can't see him getting an extension. I assume this is the HS dispensing with the fact-checking.

Trade Targets
Agree and have seen both play well and both do dumb things - Ladhams with getting suspended and Keane's sporadic backline howlers. I'm sure Keane would be sorted by May and Lever and Ladhams would be our second in line at this point.

This week’s match preview - the people speak
Goodwin said at the start of the season that in 2023 we started like a train and limped home. The 'learnings' from that, were that the team would be primed to finish the season strongly rather than start. The way we are playing at the moment it looks like it's going to plan - eg. Windsor looked cooked a few weeks ago and now is playing brilliant footy. The players, with few exceptions, look fit and fresh. Only one team has won a premiership at that ground too!

I think they've moved him to defence this year.

Food at the Footy
Once or twice at night games in the middle of winter, I might have chucked a bottle of red in a thermos. Medicinal and no I didn't bring a cheese platter.

Oscar Allan
Good grief!

Oscar Allan
Love the idea of having Allen. Deadset gun with a dodgy knee. I can't see him moving east. If he wasn't a fan of Simpson he'd be less likely to move now. Besides, we need a first-round mid to hit him lace out (and a ruck and a KPD etc etc). Shades of Ben Brown with a price tag but entering his prime.

Jason Taylor - visionary or overrated
Great post Deespic! IMV Prendergastly was not overly maligned at all. He was perhaps the biggest recruiting potato of all time. I don't blame him though. He did his best, however, the club, in its wisdom, decided to make a forward scout the head of recruiting. We would have been better served by bringing in a person with experience in recruiting FFS. I think it was another of Schwabb's gems. Perhaps we couldn't attract a decent recruiting manager? I think we also need to factor in the calibre of the MFC as a destination club at the time. We were effectively trying to attract players to the local tip. We had crud facilities, hovered around the bottom of the ladder and had a list going nowhere.

Andy Moniz-Wakefield to Debut
I love the way he runs out of trouble (which can be seen in the highlights footage above). Don't think he will ever be accused of being stagnant.
