  1. I share your thoughts. Two weeks ago were the Eagles that good or were the Hawks slightly off, maybe a bit of both. Since then the Hawks have reasserted its dominance while the Eagles looked vulnerable against North. The fact the Hawks have played the extra final means little now. Basically a full list and one more push for a chance of being one of the greatest teams ever.
  2. The 8 will get a shake up next year. North, Swans and Tigers could drop out for the Cats, Giants and Port who I think will finish top 4.
  3. Another player that has had two year under Roos and one under McCartney. Players were clearly told where they stood and what was required. Again I take this as a sign that our list is getting stronger.
  4. So if s young player comes on quicker than expected its justification in picking up McCacartney as development coach but if a tough call is made on a player it's clearly the wrong decisions and panic stations. I back our recruitment team to pick another great batch of kids and I back our coaches to develop them.
  5. You obviously don't read many of my posts. Was thinking along the lines of Stretch, ANB, Harmes, Oscar and VB.
  6. If Roos took over as coach 3 weeks ago we would be entitled to think some of the delistings are reactionary but the fact we are entering our 3rd preseason under him we should all be backing his judgement along with the other coaches.
  7. Shouldnt we look at this the other way. That our list is actually getting better. At the start of the season many posters were doing their best 22 and saying how much depth we have. Injuries to a few players and how quickly we got found out. We have very little depth to speak of with some players who got regular games not up to it but were picked due to lack of other options.
  8. Is that the same Boyd who struggled to get a regular game? Have some faith in coaching group.
  9. By up and coming player do you mean someone who's had 2 maybe 3 years in the system and can't crack into Ports best 22? Nearly all of us on here myself included wouldn't have any idea who's likely to be around at pick 24. Why don't we back ourselves to draft more quality kids and develop them ourselves.
  10. Brendan McCartney regarded by many as one of the best teachers of young players in the competition.10 years at Geelong. Worked with a lot of their stars as their careers were starting out. A year at the Bombers. 3 years at the Bulldogs. As much as Luke Beveridge can coach in his own right he's on the end of some of McCartneys best work. He's had a full season to work with Toumpas and has passed on his findings. We've been through this before. We should be glad we've finally learnt from previous mistakes.
  11. I wouldn't be surprised if Port loiters around the top 4 next year. But it will have nothing to do with Toumpas. They are already a very talented side, one of the few that can trouble Hawthorn. Take the pick.
  12. Appreciate the link but what does it all mean. Who decides the winner?Clarko still can't win coach of the year. Did Bruce Reid hand back his lifetime achievement award?
  13. Not sure, I doubt Port would give us their second round pick. I keep reading that Toumpas should be given more time or he's worth more to us than we will receive back in any trade that takes place. We got McCartney to the club for a reason. It would seem Roos has had doubts on Toumpas since taking over and made him McCartneys project for the year. Other clubs aren't stupid, we've got a well respected coaching panel and we're throwing out a pick 3 after two years. We got it wrong, we take whatever we can get and move on, we've all seen the results of what clinging on gets us.
  14. I want to be traded to a better life...Forget the movie, might even of been Black Adder. Person was granted a wish, closes eyes and makes wish, opens them "oh sh€t I'm still here".
  15. Hope it's true.Because he'll get a game there. Get it done Dees.
  16. 7 news reported Garland tipped to re-sign. If true and we keep Watts.....wow, just wow.
  17. Is that because of no interest from other clubs?Very expensive depth player. What will be different next year? Next year could well be his last in the game.
  18. The club doesn't see him as a third tall. They went hard for a lynch. I don't think any of us really know how deep the draft goes. I think someone's said yesterday Roos would part with him for a top 20 pick. Roos is smart enough to know we will struggle to get a first round for him. Take anything up to 40 and let him be someone's else's problem. He will not star at another club.
  19. Watts 196cm 88kgLynch 192cm 87kg I think Watts is gone, we made a play for Lynch and failed. Let him be someone else's problem. The contested mark stat is interesting, how many years on the list?
  20. I agree that we can't have a repeat of last time but there's a big difference in the quality of who we moved on last time and Howe/Watts/Grimes. Plus we have young players who are more accountable for their actions and are determined to win. In the worst case scenario that we can't move them on, if we have a full list to choose from Watts and Grimes are no longer best 22 for mine. As much as he frustrates me Dawes looks to be safe for 2016.
