  1. I believe the name you are looking is Aliir Aliir.
  2. Thats an old line of thought, his ability to run out games has improved. Thankfully our club would be across the basics....strengths and weaknesses of each player.
  3. Big bodied? Rioli Smith Hill Gunston Shiels Duryea They're not big bodied at all. Hodge Suckling Gibson Bruest Stratton Big boy Birchall Shoenmakers Burgoyne Are all average weight for height for footballers. Mitchell Lewis Poppy Lake Chip Hale Rough Could be considered big bodied. I agree with your other points. Hawks outside players are capable of winning their own in congestion when required and are skilful enough to more often than not beat their opponents one on one. They have versatile players similar to when Geelong won their flags. Back and forward flankers can rotate through the midfield. As much as I like Jetta if we had more talent/depth I'd play another mid in place of him. Rather than say Grimes is a medium defender, to me it has to be Grimes is a midfielder who plays off a bank flank and that's the difference, elite users of the ball all over the ground. The exception being your CHB, FB and RUCK. Chip is an average user of the footy, Lake has reasonable skills but he's also s very smart player. Hales disposal is average but he's able to provide a contest in the ruck and go forward, take a mark and kick it. If a Hawks defender takes a mark he only has to look left or right to find Birchall or Burgoyne or look up the ground and see Sheils or Smith or Hill.
  4. I agree with that. Best recent example was the loss against the Saints then the win against Geelong. Did something drastically change from the coaches during the week or was it Jones telling Roos that the players were taking ownership, then we went back to the same old Melbourne.
  5. Players 23 and under coming through together. This is what I'm assuming the coaches whiteboard looks like. OSCAR (19) FROST (21) ?? WHITE (18) TMAC (22) SALEM (19) ANB (19) VINEY (20) STRETCH (18) VB (23) ?? PETRACCA (19) HARMES (19) HOGAN (20) KENT (21) GAWN (23) ANGUS (19) TYSON (21) ?? JKH (20) TRENNERS (22) KING (19) The only two players I have doubts on are JKH and Trenners. I don't know a lot about King but from what other posters are saying he looks the goods. I don't buy into specialised small defender. Just play another skilled mid in that position to give us real depth and flexibility. The under 23's is why I'm still a member.
  6. Its up to the coaches? That's what a few of our players that are about to be moved on thought. The coaches are part it of it but the players also have to deliver on a weekly basis.
  7. Watts - it takes years to grow into your body Toumpas - he needs continuity Fitzy - surprised he got delisted, he can play multiple roles Dawes - big body, a foil for Hogan, provides a contest, brings the ball the ground Sound familiar. No I'm not comparing Daw to those players but those throw away lines all apply to him. From what I've read and watched on utube he's had some quiet games in the VFL and he's torn some apart. His most recent opportunity at the top he was more than capable. He's a better pack mark than most of our list. We could do worse than him as no.42 on the list, and we are.
  8. Arguably they would have beaten Freo if the kicked straight.
  9. Chip didn't do anything yesterday he hasn't done before in terms of playing his role. Key defender....Clarko would of broken his role right down for him to keep it simple. Wear your opponent like a glove, punch the ball when it comes in, take the occasional mark if the opportunity presents. Don't try anything to fancy with the footy we have plenty of blokes around you for that. His kicking hasn't improved. His decision making hasn't improved. His football as a whole hasn't improved, when he came to play he always was a reasonable defender. He won a flag, congratulations. We got Angus.
  10. I don't begrudge him leaving especially considering what we got in return. But has he really become a better player? He had a good game today but has had some shockers this year. I don't think his disposal or decision making has improved.
  11. Even Gawn's form wouldn't of got him a game ahead of Goldy this year. 30 goals from 17 matches in the VFL. A couple of bags and yes a couple of quiet games. If you can be bothered there's some great clips on u-tube of him. His marking is a feature and can launch the footy when he gets on to it.
  12. I like Pedo aswell. We can only assume he's a year to year proposition going off the one year extension. It wasn't meant to be a comparison as such, just the realisation (the club and all of us on here are already aware) that we need another option up forward-fwd/ruck. We are struggling to attract our first option so at times we are settling for second best. If we're only playing Dawes for big body/provide contest/bring ball to ground etc we might as well okay someone who can clunk the occasional mark. I don't know enough about Gorringe to comment. But like you will trust the coaching panels decision. Going off last year and all the rumours circulating this year everyone will be getting looked at so that's a good thing.
  13. Did you watch rd 23 v the Tigers. He can play. And before someone says thats one game, some are getting excited about the Melksham highlight package vs the Suns.
  14. Can take a contested mark. (Dawes struggled to take a chest mark) Can kick reasonably straight. (Dawes might be a bigger kick) Can cover the ground. (Dawes is a plodder) Can ruck effectively enough for a decent chop out. (Dawes can't) No one is suggesting he's a world beater and I don't see him as a long term option but what's our options....Dawes? How much crap did he cop on here during the year. We will be forced to play him due to lack of other options. What if Gawn goes down? Take out Dunn/Jones/Vince all of our talent is 18-23. We need another fwd, our play for Lynch failed. If we draft someone chances are they won't come on like Hogan has. We need someone to warm the seat. He would come cheap and we could do a lot worse.... His round 23 game showed he has grown a player.
  15. Why no DD?As a seat warmer for 2-3 years he'd give more than Dawes. Did you see him rd 23 game. I'm not saying you rate Dawes but when most people speak of him I keep hearing : brings it ground, provides a contest..... Daw can ruck, mark, disposal is ok(it's improved from what it was) and tackle.
  16. Yes and I posted this 2 weeks ago in the 2nd ruck/fwd thread.
  17. We are the only team to 3peat twice. I'll take that after 10 fat yaks.
  18. I should remind you I said we were capable of winning our last seven games and....We again will be on the end of an easy draw. Anything is possible but next year I'll be taking it one week at s time.
  19. Why not, a chance to see a champion team 3-peat without COLA or academy players. Plus only 1 player through free agency.
