Farewell Alex Neal-Bullen
I would want Crows 2nd round pick circa 27 and their future 3rd round pick to use for our FS and Academy picks in 2025. ANB is clearly better player than McAdam.

Delistings 2024
So far off the list: Smith, Gus, ANB, BB = 4 Talk of Viney going to North. Possibly all up 5. Then others?? Hunter and Schache likely to go?

Delistings 2024
Pretty well close. Kentfield may be given an extension. We have pick 7 and ANB pick say early 20's, the Swans 2nd rounder and a pick in the 40's. We should go to the draft IMO. We usually trade up and often use a future pick. No doubt we will consider our FS Yze and Academy Mentha. Care will be taken in using futures due to White and Ah - Mu coming in next year.

Premiership Hero Ben Brown Retires
He has not announced his retirement so cannot be considered for a 'special' game umtil at least then. My view would be no in any case. We are going with, JVR, Petty and Disco.

Potential Father Son Prospect Noah Yze
Round 14 Coates, Oakleigh Chargers , Round 14, 2024 Scouting Notes: 2024 Coates Talent League - Round 14 - Aussie Rules Rookie Me Central Noah has improved as the season has progressed leading to a couple of games at Casey where he did well. We will pick him up for sure. He looks like he will adapt to a strong defensive forward role like ANB. 7 tackles in his 2nd game at Casey. Lets hope he slips through. #15 Noah Yze Defender/Midfielder | 190cm | 12/04/2006 Stats: 23 disposals, 4 tackles, 6 inside 50s A prospect of intrigue to Melbourne fans as a father-son this year, Yze produced arguably his best game to date. The versatile 190cm prospect started in defence and was then thrown into midfield as a good size matchup for the likes of Josh Smillie and Oliver Greeves. His strength was evident when tackling, while also absorbing contact well and looking quite comfortable in the clinches. Overall, he performed solidly in both roles and held his own against handy opposition.

Welcome to Demonland Matthew Jefferson
I agree the club have taken a cautious approach and decided to give him a couple of VFL seasons and another pre season. If we were a bottom club he would have played but i support our clubs position to ease him in. Also Goody has made it clear in a few post game pressers that he intends to play JVR, Petty and Turner. That looks like it may well work out well. If we can squeeze Jeffo in next season we may be able to move Petts or Disco back?

Thought i would seek another opinion" and asked co pilot for fun - takes the emotion out: is christian petracca discontented with the demons " Christian Petracca’s feelings within the Melbourne Demons have been a topic of discussion. While there have been reports suggesting frustration, the club’s CEO, Gary Pert, has emphasized that Petracca is a valuable member integral to the club’s future1. Despite a disappointing season and injuries, the Demons maintain confidence in their star midfielder2. Rest assured, Petracca remains committed to the Demons until the end of his contract in 20293. 🏉🔴🔵"

Use our 1st rounder in this draft for start. We need to add to our number of young potential elite players.

Until Tracc or his manager asks for a trade then its speculation and unverified gossip. If he does ask for a trade then the answer is no unless a deal is to good to be true. The footy world will make of it what they will. Footy commentators are not bound by fact. They are permitted to express opinions and they do this primarily to feather their own nests. In any case they say time heals. The biggest cop out of all time was Tim Watson saying do not believe any Tracc denials. You just cannot win. quote from interview: " Petracca also addressed reports that his family had become frustrated with the Melbourne Football Club. Although he denied those reports, he admitted there was some “degree of frustration” just in general as some acquaintances were prevented from seeing him and kept in the dark. “During the situation, it was heightened emotion for everyone — not just my family, but my fiancée and myself,” he said." Hmmm, he may have pre arrangements ok'd by the club? We do not know? In any case if he has an issue with the club no doubt he will move on from it in due course. The steps the Dees took with his injury were ticked off by the AFL. If there was fault it was with the standard practices used by clubs. I believe they have been changed now and players are required to get internal scans.

Tracc may not be able to fly due to his condition. Jumping to conclusions without knowing the facts is exactly what the media are doing.

The Watch with Ben Gibson | Tom Morris
Where is the evidence Tracc requested a trade? Without evidence its just footy pub talk and thugish journalism. Are they saying they know for a fact? No - pub talk. The Dees followed all the right processes which was ticked off by the AFL. Cant do any more than that. Tracc is contracted and that is it. What is culture? Define it? I wish Goody would ask that question of the interviewer when asked. We have had many games where the team has had the most 22 and under players. I think we have done ok and are building. It will all blow over in due course.

Dan Houston
We are building again with young players. Another elite youngster with pick 6/7 will be invaluable. Premierships are built via the draft. 2019.

An external review of the Melbourne Football Club is required!
Damien Barret had a go about the culture in sliding doors today. We know about Smith. Dealt with. We know about Clayton's past issues - dealt with and sorted. We know about Tracc's injury - processes by club and docs ticked off. ANB requesting trade - personal issues - all ok, club handling well. What else can the club do. Are there other real or imagined issues? Schwarter said he saw some players misbehaving last preseason. Where was his duty of care as a past player. Why didn't he report it quietly to the club? Maybe they were not that serious and he is just seeking a story or joining the media thugs and putting the boots in. 4 games lost by under a goal. If we won 2 and were in the 8 would the noise be quieter. Media forgets we had more players under 22 in the team for a number of games than anyone else. Still there is so much [censored] going around maybe we should have an independant review just to clear the air

Draft or Recruit
Foundations of premierships are via the draft. We should take our 1st rounder at least to the draft. Pick6/7 may get us an elite long termer. Mini build as we have a mix of Elite/good and young developing players. 5 - 7 off the list season end including Gus and J Smith. Yze and Mentha likely to be late/rookie picks this year. Both show potential to develop. We have a number of young players on the list that show A grade potential including Kosi, Rivers, JVR, Mc Vee, Windsor. We have others that could develop into very good players. Hoping that Jeffo develops well allowing Petty or Turner to go back. Next year possible talls in White and A-Mu. Next year we can loo at a Free agent or trade in.

The Trade, Draft & Free Agency Board 2024-5
I think we need to take our 1st rounder to the draft. The foundation for Premierships are built via the draft. With a pick 6/7 we are a good chance of picking up a long term elite player. We are clearly at the least in a mini rebuild. We will see 5 to 7 players leave the list this year including Gus and J Smith. We will likely bring in Yze and Mentha as late/rookie picks. Both show potential to develop.

Jack Viney Extends Contract Until 2028
Jack Viney is under contract. Pick 2 as starters or forget it. We need Jack to teach our young mids and provide leadership. He is our Vice Captain. Got to laugh. Port wants 2 1st rounders for Houston and he is a very good player. But Jack gives so much more to a team than being a very good player.

2024 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
I posted the below on the wrong thread: Posted 5 hours ago Profile on Ricky Mentha our Academy prospect this year from April this year. The few Coates games he has been ripping it up off half back. He is pretty quick and has silky skills. Mentha produces eye-catching performance for AFL Ac... | NIT He made the rookie me Coates team of the week 1/8/24 in the back pocket. Rookie me Scouting notes from 29/7/24. Gippsland power. Looks like he is raising his stocks at the right time of the season. I am thinking there will be 5 to 7 off the list season end including Gus and J Smith. So Mentha and YZE are a good chance to be picked up. #29 Ricky Mentha Small Defender | 179cm | 04/09/2006 Stats: 22 disposals, 5 marks, 7 rebound 50s Mentha had perhaps his best performance of the season to date for the Power, constantly providing dash and drive coming out of his side’s defensive 50. On numerous occasions he showed great speed and composure under pressure to get the opposition off guard on their transition. His silky skills, pressure acts and decision making were all features although at times his disposal by hand missed targets. Mentha showed great pace especially when it came to reading the play with loose ground balls and at times stood at the last line of defence where he saved a certain goal in the second quarter getting a hand to it before going over for the score.

2024 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
Noah Yze hitting his straps at the right time of the season. See Rookie me notes from Chargers game 10/7/24. Followed up with some ok footy for Casey. I think we will pick him up as a late or Rookie pick. I think we will also pick up Ricky Mentha (Academy) who has also hit his straps late in the season as a half back with speed and silky skills. Likely late or Rookie. #15 Noah Yze Defender/Midfielder | 190cm | 12/04/2006 Stats: 23 disposals, 4 tackles, 6 inside 50s A prospect of intrigue to Melbourne fans as a father-son this year, Yze produced arguably his best game to date.
