  1. Seems very level headed His highlights show talent, Power, endurance and he is quick enough for AFL footy. I like the way JT and his team are assembling young talent. Should extend our time at the top.
  2. Congratulations and all the best. Another to add to the Dee's father son watch list.
  3. Ta, some great pics. Spots in the 23 will be under continuous pressure.
  4. Last year we moved the ball forward to slowly so the forwards were crowded. We kept it in could not score goals and got flogged on the rebound. Moving it forward quickly means we need pace and precise disposal. Then we need players with skill to get away from opponents on the lead or get the ball to ground in a spot where the smalls can go to work. So we either need players who can win the ball and kick goals in a crowed forward line or players who can move the ball forward quickly to players who can make position to receive the ball and create a goal. The only hole in my theory is that i have no idea how to make it all work in practice. The lounge chair is pretty comfortable ATM. Enjoy reading training watchers views on the young players coming through.
  5. Just read through the posts. Thanks all for taking the time and making the effort to update the forum. Much appreciated. Sounds like they have come back looking good. With our trade ins' quality and our draft picks our list will be very strong.
  6. I think Caleb is a great choice. He offers us a point of difference with speed, endurance and much needed run and quick movement to inside 50. Plus can kick goals himself.
  7. Some comments from Rookie me show why we picked Koltyn: A brilliant creator and finisher, many of Tholstrup’s disposals create opportunities for inside 50 targets, always looking to take the game on with his penetrative kicking. His bullish nature and strong contested work, along with his aggressive kicking decisions lead him to be a handy pinch hitter in the midfield as well.
  8. Well done Kynan. He does have a bit of pace and is hard at the ball.
  9. Great to see Kynan get on the list. I was watching those last few picks with fingers X'd.
  10. Hurts us as well. You trade for a certain future pick and it gets pushed back. Other clubs in the same boat. Middle of the ladder teams will be pushing a barrow of the stinky stuff up hill for years especially looking forward to Tassy concessions.
  11. Last night Delsanto in usual exaggeration had Kol in the mould of Track and Degoey. But no harm in hoping.
  12. Our WA talent scouts have a great record. I think we may have another WA gun on our hands. He will add a bit of flare to the list. Power and talent.
  13. He will get the ball inside 50 with speed and has a big tank. Quick movement is important. Happy with the pick.
  14. I am tipping North picks Curtin. He will be a gun. We may find Either Sanders or Watson available at our pick bit I think from 'expert intel' we will pick Windsor who will be able to move the ball very quickly into the forward line. Our movement forward has been very slow causing no space for forwards to operate.
  15. Smoke and mirrors this draft. Twomey said on gettable the same clubs were in line for the same players in the first 10 or more picks. Usually we see one or 2 surprise selections. So they would be playing games with each other.
  16. JT played down the Tholstrup visit. Said Jeffersen played some good footy at VFL and needs another preseason. Hopefully we see Jeffersen play a few AFL games next year.
  17. I will back in JT's record and go with who ever he picks at 6. Cal Twomey said Windsor is light and may not play much year 1. So if we pick him we may need some patience.
  18. I can't see Curtin getting past Nth. We have told Tomlinson he is required and signed up Hore as a back up down back. That tells the world we have some depth concerns. If that is the case why would we overlook a young gun in Curtin if available who may also play other positions. It may be we are expecting Kalani White in the 2025 draft as a CFB? Curtin looks terrific in his highlights package. Could be smoke and mirrors from clubs? It may also be that Windsor has a huge amount of improvement in front of him and we are set on him. Windsor also looks good in his highlights. Our main 'express pace' ATM comes from Pickett, Chandler and Bowey. Another quick will be good.
  19. I would be happy with either Leake, Tholstrup or Windsor at pick 11. They all have loads of talent. One or 2 will be available at our pick. Obviously depends on internal rankings which in part will consider needs.
  20. I would be happy with O'Sullivan at our 1st pick. He is regarded as a swing player who could play forward as well. Given Petty may leave for the Crows next year we could nab a mid in next years draft given the crows would have to come up with some good picks.
  21. He looks good. We have recruited well out of WA. Our scouts must be top notch. Perspective is that he is Under 18 playing against men in a good standard WAFL. Not sure how he tested for speed, agility etc. If we pick him i will back our recruiters.
  22. This weeks Gettable on the AFL website did a mock 20 based on needs ie holes in list - players to cover etc. At 7 we bid on Read (GC) and pick O'Sullivan. Pick 13 we take Wilson. Doubt whether we would pick Wilson. Rookie me profile lists improvements as contested work and strength. Still i am not selecting. They have Caddy at 9 (GWS), Sanders at 10 (Cats) and Leake at 12 (crows). I suspect we may try to trade up our pick 11 2 or 3 spots using our 2024 1st and our 2023 pick 42. Doubt we will see any takers.
  23. Great that we have nominated Kynan. Hopefully he develops into a good player. He is deceptively quick and plays the Dees style of contested footy.
  24. According to BF today concerning how many live picks clubs have. I Have not checked it. Melbourne Starting list size: 36 Out: 5 (Hibberd, Dunstan retired, Grundy, Jordon, Harms trade/FA) In: 3 (Billings, Fullarton, McAdam trade) - plus D.Turner possibly promoted Current senior list: 34 players Current rookies: 4 Cat A (McVee, Sestan, Turner, Verrall) + 2 Cat B (Moniz-Wakefield, Farris-White) Live picks: 4 (6, 11, 42, 93)
  25. Lance Collard is in the WCE Academy and they cannot match bids to pick 40. Zero Hanger has him in the range 20 - 35. AFL Draft Profile: Lance Collard - AFL News - Zero Hanger
