The Rising Star Thread - Congratulations Jesse Hogan!
CBDees replied to Nascent's topic in Melbourne Demons
Yes and for this performance Fitzy didn't even get in team of the week. At least Hogan's efforts were recognised to this extent! -
If we want serious numbers we should be able to avoid an away jumper like Collingwood! Those kids only need buy one jumper which has never changed. We seem to get a couple of new versions each year!
-
Where are the pics of her in a Demons jumper or singing the Club song with the boys? Why don't you post this stuff on another forum?
-
Song you would do twenty posts on your ear! Make sure that most of them promote Demonland!
-
Maybe you should rethink your views on Spencil also after yesterday's performance?
-
I am on your side on this DP. ADs post was one of the most ridiculous posts I have ever read. The whole idea of rating Michie ahead of Watts, Toumpas, Howe and Fitzy suggests that he either doesn't watch our games very closely or just has no judgement!
-
For those who missed the match, the full replay can be viewed on Demonology on the following link: http://demonology.me/pages/fullreplays/

OD I predict that we will beat both Port and the Pies (though less sure against the Cats). I also suspect that most of the key contributors from Sunday will play a big part in the upcoming games!
-
It would be a massive mistake to get rid of Watts, Toumpas, Grimes, Howe, Riley and Fitzpatrick. Together with Spencil (and Matt Jones) they played a massive part in our win on Sunday!
-
Not sure that he has the lack of pace that some posters are suggesting. The week before when he played VFL (albeit at a lesser pace), he had 28 possessions and laid 14 tackles, something that you cannot do if you are the slowest on the field. Remember that he is coming back from a broken leg.
-
Also Demonology offered a live cross.
-
Similarly surprised that you couldn't think of a single player worthy of your sixth vote Moonshadow!
-
I salivate at the thought of a five pronged attack next year from Viney, Riley, Brayshaw, vandeBerg and Petracca!
-
6. Vandenberg - 5. Fitzpatrick- 4. Hogan- 3. Pedersen- 2. Vince- 1. Toumpas -

Went to the match yesterday, confident that we would win after picking us in both tipping competitions. I have only just arrived home from post- match celebrations and have had a great time reading these posts on this thread, agreeing with 90% of the posters. My hero of the day was Fitzy who gave the $7Million Man a complete bath. What a team we will be next year when we have Petracca in with Vanders and Co,

I agree wholeheartedly that we should get Gawn rucking for Melbourne asap but you must be joking in suggesting that Jamar play in the Development League!
-
Thank you WJ. All these years, I thought it was time not tide. I guess I have never seem it written before.
-
The reality is that he is 200cm and the only person on our list of that height who we might genuinely be able to develop as a leading forward (plus he comes at the fraction of the price of Boyd, leaving us more money to invest in our midfield come the end of the year)!I am not sure of the strategy of developing him as a defender but, for depth, maybe we need somebody apart from Pederson (and Howe?) who can play both ends, especially as it would provide us with a range of players in that category. Personally I hope that he breaks through as a forward and realistically he has more upside than (say) Bail, who we seem to be perservering with.

I don't think that Jetta will be back this weekend, so modifying "Spirit of Norm Smith"'s team: Grimes T.Mcd Dunn Howe Garland Lalamumbaaaa Michie Vince Toumpas Watts Dawes Newton Gartlett Hogan [Pedersen] Jamar Tyson Jones Cross Brayshaw Riley sub. Vandenburg emerg. Gawn Bail ANB outs MJones Bail Stretch Spencer Salim- inj ins Riley Newton Watts Hogan Jamar

Who would you promote out of White or Harmes? Both seem to be acquitting themselves ok.
-
Isn't Gawn the second tallest guy in the AFL? Why can't we develop him into our Sandilands (or at least train him to effectively ruck against him)?
-
Petracca (who is already part of our future midfileld) will get us a long way though we need another established midfielder over the off-season. Brayshaw also will add grunt alongside Petracca, and hopefully Trengove will again be part of our midfield.

Going into 2016: FB: Jetta T. McDonald Dunn HB: Lumumba Frost Salem C: Vince Viney vandenBerg HF: Kent Pedersen Watts FF: Garlett Hogan JKH Foll: Gawn N. Jones Tyson Int: Petracca Brayshaw Toumpas Neal-Bullen Emergency: Dawes, (midfielder recruited over the off-season), Garland Depth: Stretch, Howe, King, Newton, Harmes, Trengove With reservations: 1) I have dropped Cross as I see Petracca the future next year. 2) Also Gawn for Jamar for the same reason but hopefully we recruit another ruckman over the off-season. 3) Maybe we may gain another kpf and Pederson (first) and then Dawes become depth. 4) Also King is kicking goals in the Development League (6) which may translate to VFL and/or AFL after another preseason. 5) I haven't lost faith in Toumpas unlike some as having more potential x-factor than Newton
