  1. Don't write off the possibility of being influenced by your peers moreso than the elder statesman! From what I have seen of Petracca, he is infectious, has good values and a professional approach to his AFL career. I think that the influence of him, Hogan and Brayshaw will carry this Club further (in the right direction) than any other three players on our list, despite their relative youth and time in the system.
  2. What rubbish is that! Bail in the guts and Hogan on the interchange? I doubt Bail is a definite starting 18 in preference to the seven listed on the extended interchange!
  3. WJ you are a master of under-statement!
  4. Not sure that Bennell would be beyond the ability of Roos, Goodwin and McCartney and mentors such as Cross and Petracca. I think that we should give it a go!
  5. OD the whole thrust of this thread is that we may be able to entice some talent from the GCSs. Considering the fact that KH has identified a quarter of their list as having dabbled with illegal drugs, surely if we are to take a risk we should do it with one of their more talented players! I cannot see Eade wanting to keep many of them on the list and will likely be pressured to jettison most for the best deal that he can negotiate. Maybe we can swap for Jordy and Terlich?
  6. Not sure that Bennell would be beyond the ability of Roos, Goodwin and McCartney and mentors such as Cross and Petracca. I think that we should give it a go!
  7. Send him a tape of the Dees vs. Cats match and then remind him that Salem, Hogan, Petracca, Trengrove, Vanders, Kent & JKH still have to come into the team!
  8. I think I prefer Demon Andrew's team or that of GeorgiouRRM (above) with Bail and Riley out. Although Toumpas was down on his St.Kilda performance last week, he represents our future more than Bail. Judging from Roos mid-year assessments, I don't think Roos will drop Toumpas based on him being down last week.
  9. It probably is interesting however after I was a minute in it asks me to subscribe to access premium content!
  10. We are always going to have the QB match free-to-air as it is against Collingwood. They weren't doing it for our benefit! The Saints game is different but I am sure that there will be a hidden agenda there also.
  11. Everybody seems to be focussing on NikNat as though he will be the crucial player to stop. Interesting to look at WC's B&F last year where he was named ninth, whilst JW was similarly tenth in our B&F. Perhaps we should be looking at the eight guys ahead of NN when we are suggesting changes rather than putting all our focus on Spencer and Gawn?

    MRP

I thought that MRP stood for Most Respected Player and was going to suggest Nathan Jones. Wrong Thread! Sorry!
  13. I disagree and I think that most thinking supporters who watched the Petracca/Trengrove clip would think similarly to Billy. As regards the suggestion that playing at the G would automatically gain us more members than Tassie/NT, nothing will budge the Dee followers amongst the MCG membership who are too tight to put their hands into their pockets for a MFC membership so no harm in trying an interstate experiment. In any case, as a MCC/MFC member, I actually enjoy watching us play interstate at a local pub full of MFC supporters (and that is as an East Melbourne resident)!
  14. Not sure that Tassie would see the same potential in us as in Hawthorn (or more particularly, North). What Tassie really wants to promote their state is a full-fledged Tassie AFL team of their own. I am sure that at the back of their mind they visualise the Tassie Kangaroos or even (but more fanciful) the Tassie Hawks. They know that they could never envisage the Melbourne FC relocating away from their spiritual and historic home ground, the MCG or dropping the name MELBOURNE.
  15. I fully agree! The fact that we were prepared to play two games in the NT should exempt us by having to play a single "home" game at Etihad! Irrespective of the financial and promotional advantages of the NT vs. Docklands, we more importantly have a superior win/loss ratio there. The fairest thing IMHO would be for the AFL to exempt us from Etihad and gIve the MFC exclusive rights over the recruitment of any NT indigenous players (think Flash, Jurrah, Wheels and Aussie)!
  16. So you are not thinking of bringing Hogan back in?
  17. I agree! We should have had eight in the team, including Vince and Brayshaw!
  18. I would bring in Fitzy (BOG at Casey last weekend with 28 disposals and 11 marks) instead of Garlo.
  19. I also had Brayshaw in my best six however I don't have a problem with Garlett (or even Watts for that matter). I think that they had to focus on positions (which is why Gawn is nominated in the forward pocket rather than in the ruck)!
  20. The same six that featured in the Demonland poll. This would have to be a first. I hope that the other seventeen teams are paying attention!
  21. Fitzy is already back and was BOG for Casey at the weekend:28'possessions 2 tackles 11 marks (with 8 from opposition kicks) I am looking forward to him towelling Boyd again!
  22. DazzleDavey you have done nothing but post since the win! You have got as much integrity as Bill Shorten!
  23. And sweeter still that both Garlett and Betts are no longer with Carlton!
  24. If he only had scored more than one goal against St. Kilda (when he had only three kicks) then we would have been singing the song two weeks in a row (however maybe the St. Kilda loss was just what we needed to inspire everybody (especially Garlett) to lift against the Cats!
