Brisbane Lions Consider Asking for Priority Picks
CBDees replied to The Song Formerly Known As's topic in Melbourne Demons
Wow 15 years!!!!! We have only been waiting 52 years and still counting! My heart bleeds for them! -
I am sure Gary wouldn't have minded. Max was also a great bloke and another Taswegain. Gone are the days when you could represent the MCC in both footy and cricket. Shame Max got poached by the Australian team before going on to become Australia's highest selling author.

A rookie spot would however it should not be at the expense of keeping out a good young player. You have to remember that our four rookies this year were Vanders, Harmes, White and King (two of which who were re-rookied from 2014). Which of those would you have had make way for Crossy? If he was a playing (development) coach at Casey he would be playing every week and possibly get Casey into the Final.

The Rising Star Thread - Congratulations Jesse Hogan!

Correction: competent midfield (plural) -
I liked the honesty of this interview and also the crowd reaction to Crossy in his last game. Whilst re-rookie ing him is possible (so we can help him to 250+ AFL games), I hope that the Club can pursue the option of employing him as a (playing) development coach at Casey where he can work with our young players as Shannon Byrnes has done for the last two years. Shannon was still in the best 22 at Casey and was a goal kicker in Casey's losing Final last weekend.

I don't mind the way that you think however:1) I might swap Dunn and Frost 2) I see that you haven't been able to make a call on the emergencies (as distinct from the interchange) 3) ditto comment applies to the four (unknown) players that we cannot assume will all leave 4) interesting that the only player that you haven't promoted/retained is O. McDonald

Do you think we should also offer them Dawes, Hunt and Salem?

Not sure that I would be quite ready to put Hunt in with our other emerging midfielders! Despite less time in the system, I would be more inclined to nominate Harmes (and I still think that Toumpas will make it)!

Yes but we are one of six Clubs to not have a single player (and during the year we still beat the Western Bulldogs who have five players)!

Did the AFL make a huge mistake denying us a priority pick last year?
CBDees replied to SaberFang's topic in Melbourne Demons
You each make a lot of sense but it doesn't absolve the AFL from the fact that we were given no compensation by way of a Priority Pick which we were clearly entitled to after winning two and four games in successive years. We should have been given a PP, clear and simple. The Frawley farce was ingenious and they have shot themselves in the foot, particularly if Carlton becomes the beneficiary. Gorgoroth makes some sense: give Carlton and Brisbane picks 10 and 11 as compensation for their player losses! -
And Bennell for steak knives!

When will Melbourne break these embarrassing records?
CBDees replied to praha's topic in Melbourne Demons
You are talking about semantics. Any game played other than on the MCG is an "away game". Beating Collingwood on the MCG is also an away game! -
I am not sure that I would rush to offload Michie and Newton. They were good contributors to yesterday's win and are good depth players.
-
If Harmes and King also end up as good players then we have had a superb "Rookie Draft"!
-
You should have ranked him above the three mids!

It is a travesty that the AFL schedules our home game on Father's Day at Docklands just so that it can parade those two other rabble teams (who were also playing a dead rubber) at our home ground! When have Collingwood and Essendon ever played each other at Etihad? (Without looking it up I suspect NEVER!)

Some serious questions asked about Paul Roos ...
CBDees replied to dazzledavey36's topic in Melbourne Demons
Ten doesn't look like a good number to me as we should have beaten Carlton, Essendon and (one of the games against) St. Kilda giving us ten wins this year. 12-15 would be an improvement and hopefully allow us to make the Final Eight. -
Viney Vince Gawn Salem Hogan Harmes
-
Only three? King is starting to play well enough to be considered also! Vanders and Harmes are both locks, White and King will both be ready after another pre-season!

Don't tell me some are regretting selecting Grimes ahead of Watts?
-
Apparently it does but I cannot find my MFC card.

The start of a comeback?

Is it being broadcast on the radio?
