  1. I dont know if the draft will be broadcast via one of the stations off this link, I have used it before to get live access to Australian Soccer games broadcast on foxtel. http://cricfree.tv/fox-sports-2-usa-live-stream.php
  2. The saints know they need to pay $1m or so a year to get a power forward to their club. The cheap option is obviously go for Paddy and hope that he develops into one of those million dollar forwards, preferably one that they wants to stay with the Saints. Problem is that if he does develop then other teams will be throwing $1m offers at him at the end of his first contract.
  3. stkilda need a forward to take some of the pressure of nick, Nick will not last another 2-3 years running around that forward line by himself, I doubt stkilda will pass on Mccartin, much as they want Petracca they NEED McCartin.
  4. yes he's IQ is too high for him to WANT to play for the saints
  5. if we get McCartin and play him he will be at last our 3 tall forward, Dawes will probably still take most of the attention from the opposition because he is older and a seasoned campaigner, hogan we will the 2nd best defender as he is again older and has at least one years VFL experience. So McCartin would take the 3rd best defender, i think that would be a great duel one that i think he could do well in. I dont see why he cannot get experience at AFL level as long as he is competitive and giving us something. VFL is for those who need the practice to get to a level where they can give us something when they play AFL football.
  6. regardless of who the saints pick they will regret not taking the other player. How many no 1 picks have actually proved to be the best of their draft.
  7. I suspect the Saints will take him, he is a strong leading forward which is gold. if we get him and can put the ball in front of him or Hogan we will kick decent scores.
  8. In our case its probably better, the quality of the player is as good without the noise that would surround another melbourne 1st draft pick.
  9. oh to have been a hat manufacturer in those days.
  10. Yes 2015 will be more hard yards, so will 2016 and 2017 as we do have a long way to go to compete with the top sides. But i expect a lot more given the new players we have coming in plus hogan. We had no goal kickers this year other than Dawes who was usually smothered by multiple opposition players, inclusion of Hogan and Garlett alone should improve that, hopefully Kent can find more consistency. Midfield is stronger so I would expect the ball to be going our way more often than it did last year. We were ahead in quite a few games last year but lost it in the last quarter or two. I would hope the changes made will mean we will win a few of those games and perhaps surprise in a couple of others.
  11. Neeld was crippled by the playing group he inherited regardless of game plan and injuries. Roos has also been significantly handicapped by the same group, though he did manage to get a few really good players in last years draft. This year will be another significant cleanout and infusion of more talented players than the ones they are replacing. Roos game seemed to me to be around cutting down the loosing margin, being within striking distance near the end of the games so that we could potentially overhaul and win a few, which i think he did reasonably well, were were in quite a few games before we fell away. This year we have again some good pickups and with a fit forward line have a chance to play more attacking football. I think we should win quite a few more games this year possibly 8 or 9 wins.
  12. I am not sure we can blame list management, they obviously saw some improvement in Evans near the end of his last contract so we gave him a new contract based on what they saw and what they thought he may develop into, unfortunately he did not step up to the mark. Had he actually developed then we all would have been pretty pleased that we still had him locked into a contract. If we were not in such an aggressive rebuild process then we probably would have seen him coast along on the list next year, instead they took the hard option of trying to move him to the rookie list which to me means they still rate him as a chance otherwise we would have cut him straight away. He obviously declined the rookie spot at this time. In a month or so we will see if we still rate him high enough to rookie him if he is available.
  13. we need another tall forward as well as mids, we now are able to rotate Stretch, Garlett, Newton and possible Lumumba through our midfield and we in all likelihood be adding brayshaw to the mix as well. We need to use pick 3 on a tall forward to assist Dawes and Hogan, that still leaves pick 40, 53 and 2 rookie draft positions to go after additional mids if needed. We need to be aware that the rebuild is still going to take a couple more years, so we need to keep an eye on who we will be targeting and who from our team will be targeted in next years draft (Free Agency etc) and the quality and type of players available. by the end of next year we will need to cut another at least another 6-10 players to continue to strengthen our list. 1. Petracca to St Kilda, while they like McCartin, I think they take Petracca as he gives them flexibility to play forward or mid. 2. Brayshaw 3. McCartin
  14. ASADA may have a water tight cased against the Dons, but its the AFL [censored] that will be calling out the punishment. Findings from the AFL review will be players were tricked, therefore extenuating circumstances, 6 month suspended or back dated sentence. ASADA will be [censored] as hell and complain.
  15. what a farce to back date a suspension when the players have already played those games, to make such a deal is an absolute blight on the AFL and sport in general. But then again whats another blight to the money greedy AFL who only look after the rich clubs.
  16. God how many more sleeps until all of our drafting questions are answered?
  17. But then we would not have gotten that extra draft pick coming back to us.
  18. If he is planning to go into the draft then he is still looking to keep his football career alive, i think MFC has probably offered him the best chance of doing that.
  19. going into the draft and that we MAY consider him in the rookie draft. given that we have already paid him out I doubt we would then want to go and pay him a rookie contract as well. he is not that special, lots of other potentials out there. good bye and good luck.
  20. giving a player who is payed $200k to play with Casey a bonus is certainly not the way to go. What''s in it for him. - a chance to continue to earn $200K+ in subsequent years if he can met the standards that we have set, that are obviously not beyond him based on some of his early form/promise.
