  1. hopefully we can pick up Newton as a DFA and we can pick up some more mids with our pick 2, 40, 53 and even possible pick two in the PSD, so should be trying to shore up our forward line with a tall marking, goal kicker.
  2. so we can start signing DFA's (hopefully Ben) from tomorrow.
  3. need to make some extra room for him in our list, and who knows there maybe another delisted player Roos and co maybe interested in.
  4. we still need to get rid of a couple more poor performers, pay out their contract and take some fresh or possible recycled players, no value keeping marginal players on the list.
  5. Given there is a real chance that Essendon will have a number of players out for anywhere from 1/4 of a game to 18months those that play them early are obviously going to benefit from a number of their better players not being available, we unfortunately only play them once and that is not until round 14.
  6. So how is the AFLPA supposed to defend the players when they wont even read the evidence against them.... this is nuts. Hurry and and slow down quickly.
  7. still think we need another forward, we have seen how exposed we were with just Dawes up forward, you would expect hogan and dawes would both have occassional niggling injuries at best and maybe the odd suspension as well, which leaves our forward line with no scoring power. I like wright as he can act as a ruck and forward giving us options.
  8. Essendon is the club that was caught, didnt Danks have something to do with Geelong and the Suns before going to Essendon. I would expect other clubs or players have likewise pushed the boundary as players are potentially able to be rewarded with Million dollar deals, so some players/teams may also walk over that line because the rewards are too great and the chances of being detected appear to be very very low.
  9. other sides dont have to rush their new draftees into the side some dont play for a couple of years allowing them to mature and learn in the VFL, our guys are getting pushed up and down between AFL and VFL so are under the microscope far earlier than other sides.
  10. we have quite a few players who can play through the midfield they may not be A graders but they can play there, we have the backline covered with sufficient talent should injuries hit there, but we do not have sufficient number of forwards to start with much less if injuries hit. I believe we need to take another forward as well as a mid with our first two picks, we can top up on more B grade mids with later picks and possibly the PSD. But more forwards are critical in giving us targets and getting a decent score on the board.
  11. Sorry D but we have done enough gambling with high draft picks to last this club a lifetime, play safe take quality players, we cannot afford more draft failures.
  12. How many mids are we going to have to get before everyone is satisfied, no point just having mids if there is no forward line to get it and score, every draft has lots of reasonably talented mids, you dont get really a log of talented forwards all the time. We will collect at least one mid with our first pick and we have stretch, and likely pick up a couple more mids with pick 40 and our 50ísh pick. as well as letting lumumba and Garlett have a run in the middle. We can also assume that we will get a bit more of our existing mids, and if we go for a tall who can also play ruck they can give Gawn or Jamar a chop out and may help us get some more clearances. We dont want to run the risk again of having a one man forward line should something happen to Hogan or Dawes.
  13. you dont need to be a rocket scientist to know that Mitch's career is hanging by a thread. If he was picked up there would obviously be clauses in his contract regarding behavior, and incentives or a couple more years should he be good. He is hard at the contest and gets the opposition player and sometimes the ball, he would be a much better asset than quite a few on our list. i think he would certainly be worth the risk, after all its his career that is in jeopardy should he fail.
  14. Yes remember the saints, not so sure of about the hawks and the cats, the hawks did take frawley which i consider a plus given the compensation we got and whether clarke is a loss of us or a win is really going to depend on how well Clarke is going to go, if past history is any guide then this maybe a great win for us as well.
  15. a lot of talent going to be on the market, and a lot of clubs are going to have to shed their own good players to make room if they want to pick up any of these young high priced targets, also a lot of players are going to be testing the market to see what they are now worth regardless of whether they are contracted or not.
  16. just shows there is a lot of potentially good players still in the 50's which adds significant value to the frost trade.
  17. If danger was considering being traded to the MFC then we may have a good chance at him next year as him considering being traded to us shows a willingness/acceptance of playing for us which is a good start.
  18. We now have picks 40 and 53 have a look at the following link for a phantom draft that gives a bit of an idea of the type of player we could pick up as a result of the frost trade. http://www.bigfooty.com/forum/threads/knightmares-2014-phantom-draft.1060197/
  19. Hmmm given his performance so far he may end up like brock without a club...
  20. anyone have a link to a phantom draft that actually shows us the level of players available at 40 and 53
  21. and dont forget we got stretch and Garlett pretty cheaply too.
  22. Those that played that day were amongst our best at that time, so obviously you trade or replace your worst, those not good enough be be beaten soundly by GWS. Now redo that team list with the new ins such as Lumumba, Garlett, Frost, Stretch and a couple more decent midfielders and you have a very different side.
  23. why is everyone picking on Mahoney, he would have been acting on decisions made by the recruiting team, which would have included input from Paul Roos. Mahoney mentioned they are looking to use the first pick in the PSD to pick up a player they are keen on, so that also comes into the equation on why we spent pick 23 as well as the fact that we have two more late picks, which may still give us upgrades for a couple of our lesser lights. Lastly we got a player caused Tyson last year because he had trouble getting a game also with the same team. Roos and the recruiting teams saw a player they wanted because he is the sort of player we need, lets see how he plays with our team before we say it was a failure.
  24. the scramble for the first couple of picks is likely to happen in the last half hour as clubs settle for the best deal they can get before trading ends
