  1. I believe the media attention on Bernie from his stopping game on Dangerfield put him at the top of the umps watch list as he was pinged a few times and when he was blatantly being held, thrown off the ball etc the umps saw nothing.
  2. what I found annoying was the number of times the umps called holding the ball when players were tackled and incorrectly disposed of the ball
  3. a true 4 quarter effort by the boys, loved Salems game, he has really slotted in well in the backline.
  4. fantastic win, now the guys playing for Casey need to stand up with Jetta and kent likely to be both out, we have space for two good players. hopefully that will do a mitchie and come in and hit the ground running. we may not beat hawthorn but I give us a chance against freo and possibly the swans. Gratz dees on a great win.
  5. I agree CAS will be looking for Essendon to prove they did the right thing, rather than that they did not. The lack of records is foolish, clubs measure everything, so you have to conclude that the destruction or loss of the records is to cover up the truth. CAS has to make an example of Essendon or else the whole drugs in sport becomes an even bigger joke.
  6. No I would essentially make noises about looking into it if I was WADA and start to get the Essendon folk a little nervous. Then after 23 days or so appeal direct to CAS. Even with a small budget they can afford to look at it as they will be working from the ASADA and AFL tribunal notes / records that is unless the AFL Tribunal did not keep any records which given the irregularities in this case is highly possible.
  7. I loved the fact that other demons players were in there supporting and defending vince at 3 quarter time. a much better spirit.
  8. a lot of positives out of today, the first quarter other than the last minute was fantastic to watch, the second was also not too bad. This is the sort of football we all want to see. I think we are all being a bit hard on some of the players they all made mistakes throughout the game, but at least they all looked like the tried. Dawes is constantly double teamed, and delivery is often not the best, I thought from what I have seen so far his chasing and tackling were good. Watts dropped some but then so did the opposition, Sloane did a notice miss that resulted in one of our second quarter goals. I loved our attack on Dangerfield, it was a bit Ablettish and was great to see. we are building a team for the future and I think things are looking a lot better, Adelaide is tough in Adelaide the umps are obviously swayed by the home crowd which meant they got a few extra frees and we missed on some. Our kicking let us down not only for goal but some of our kicking around the game where we kicked it directly to the opposition or out of bounds when not under a lot of pressure. At least this year we are seeing forward 50 entries and scores, even if they are not all goals its an improvement. The team still has a lot of new players getting used to our style and understanding their team mates. all in all not a bad performance. .
  9. well that's amazing that Danks was prepared to give all of these essendon players all these other drugs and things and even ordered TB4 but kindly stopped short of actually giving it to them.... I cannot see WADA walking away from this, now that Danks farcical trial is over ASADA can now step aside and let its big brother come in and clip the AFL and Essendon over the ears for stupidity and find their own level of comfort.
  10. I still find it incredible that the AFL and its tribunal can truly believe that there were no records. football clubs monitor everything heart rates, recovery times, players work rates, distances travelled, etc why would they not be keeping these records to prove if their program was or was not working. and if they cannot produce these records it is because the essendon football club chooses not to produce them or they have destroyed them...
  11. Dawes is a better options than howe up forward, Jeremy flies well for marks but does not do a lot beside that if he does not mark it. Dawes contests often with two players on him still. We need more support for Dawes from our crumbers. I think Kent needs to either be sub or dropped, his two misses are were things he should be nailing, didn't do a lot more beside his one goal two points. Howe did not do a lot, should be rested and frost sent back. We have Tex walker to cover this week so we need a bit of speed as well as marking power I think frost is more versatile in defence. JHK in for Kent, and Toumpas for Howe. while I like cross and his brilliant work ethic I am not sure about his disposal, maybe mitchie or pigdog in for him. While pigdog may have disposal issues I think he would try harder against Adelaide, gotta love his tackling.
  12. Only our second game with a lot of new recruits. While I am absolutely P****ed at our lack of pressure in the second half I am pleased with the brand of football that we played in the first half. More time together and greater competition for spots in the team will see us improve. We are not going to be a major threat but we will improve this year. get used to seeing so really good footy as well as some really poor footy until we actually start to function as a team.
  13. no point lamenting the giants had the pick of several drafts, does not matter they put a team on the paddock that was committed and we didn't. Simple as that. Absolutely gutted at the lack of commitment from these guys really after about midway through the second quarter. While we were leading you could see they were pinging away at the goals but were missing. Jones had a shocker, did not look like getting near the ball or even seem to be trying to be in the thick of it. Kent missed two important shots that he really should have gotten, did nothing much really. So many players were not prepared to run or chase. another long season if they don't pull their fingers out and put in.
  14. Latest thinking is that making players watch their own mistakes is counter productive, need to work on what worked well, last weeks game was a better example to show the players over and over again. well until we get something better still.
  15. interesting only one week considering he lifted his elbow to hit him in the head.
  16. lol, the more these clowns come out to praise themselves for beating the system the more likely it will be that WADA goes after them. Brokering peace could also be seen as tampering with witnesses. I cannot see any way in the world that WADA will not go after these clowns and will not go hard on them once they find them guilty using their own system and definitions of proof. The AFL tribunal in finding essendon innocent have set Essendon up for a far harsher penalty from WADA once they find them guilty. .
  17. This is not going away for several years at least, players will continue to queue up to sue Essendon as their football careers end and as they start to find things wrong with themselves, which could possibly be as a result of their experimental testing. Each court case will bring out more data and make it easier for the next. The only way Essendon can try to bottle this up is by paying out each player as he attempts to sue so that they don't go back to court and they don't have to put Danks, Charters, Hird and others on the witness stand.
  18. This case has been difficult for ASADA to prosecute due to the inside leaking by the AFL to Essendon to newspapers, well to everyone. The stupid ALF stunt of letting the cat out of the bag and the passing of inside information to Essendon (most likely from the head of the AFL) give Essendon advance notice of the investigation perhaps before ASADA was ready, they may have had a few more phone taps and other things to assist their case. Funny so many injections and the players did not ask what they were being injected with, etc... that the club was happy to pay hundreds of thousands of dollars for this program while not understanding ever the most basic aspects of it, yet at the same time james hird and a couple of other have asked for some anti-aging injections I personally do not believe their are no records, just no records found. Danks is supposed to be a sport scientist, this means keeping thorough records so he can tweak his drugs and write up how good he is etc... I suspect he kept them pretty close to his chest and walked away with them. If he had any sense he would still have a copy somewhere just in case he needed them not to come out again. WADA has had to let ASADA run the case with the AFL, and while ASADA was poor leaving to the AFL alone would have been far worse, or at least finished with a not guilt verdict 2 years earlier. I don't know the 3 amigos who heard the evidence but could not or did not believe the dots joined, but I suspect they are as someone said old school, everything must be perfectly aligned or else. This is not a court of law but a sporting tribunal so the level of proof is far less than a court would require. WADA is now faced with a real challenge against their authority and the honesty of the system. To allow Essendon to thumb their nose at the anti-doping authority sends the wrong message to all the little sports clubs etc everywhere, where they will try on the Essendon excuses to their local authorities to escape penalties. I suspect ASADA will be asked to let it go through to the keeper where WADA will pick it up. WADA will bring in better qualified people to go over what there is in the way of evidence and take it to the sports tribunal, where it is up to the players etc to prove they are not guilty, anything charters and co have written will be used in evidence against them and it will be up to Danks, charters and co to prove otherwise. The essendon players are all now known. If the tribunal had found them guilty and given them a 4 week suspension probably backdated then maybe WADA would not pursue it, but because of the not guilt WADA needs to follow up and the punishment they will be meting out will most likely be far more stringent than the afl. In the mean time we have an ex player going at the club for data and records, etc.. it will be interesting to see how soon they settle with him, maybe he wants to study in france for a year or so..
  19. He would be a very nice addition to the side.
  20. Yes I have heard a fair bit of the evidence and believe joining the dots up and believe they are guilty, that no sport scientist trialling stuff to make himself famous does not keep meticulous records. I don't believe clubs spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on programs that they don't understand. there is a think called justice and there is a thing called the law. The people you select to dispense justice are different to the people you choose to dispense law.
  21. you seriously think they don't consider which judges they use, who they are, what their history is, or do you think they pick them out of the yellow pages,
  22. so how is it that the two people most likely to be able to clear the bombers refused to testify? and the judges did not think that was odd. I suspect the AFL has done their homework and got a stickler of a judge to do their dirty work and find the evidence is not sufficient for a court of law, though it probably is way over for a sports tribunal. Secondly how can the AFL punish Danks when there is evidence or wrong doing. I am surprised that there is no way to have compelled danks to provide evidence. This is the first time I have heard of anyone running clinical trials, etc and not keeping any records, how do they know who they gave what to and how often, and the side effects? really no records...... Lastly I wonder if this hurts the essendon players chances for compensation later on if something should kick in later, regardless of whether it is natural or as a result of their trials. The afl has already proven? nothing harmful was used?
  23. Not bad at all, good to see the guys having a good laugh
  24. Ablett could play on crouches against us and still be best on ground.
  25. what good is speed if you turn the ball over regularly with clangers and give away 5 free kicks, what is the players net value to the team compared to his opponent. Sorry to me Matt Jones makes too many errors and gives up too many frees.
