  1. Yes 3 and 23 would be simpler from our point of view, but if you are dealing with a bunch of red neck yobo's who love the status of having the first two or 3 draft picks in every draft then you give them the earlier pick to keep them happy as long as they agree to not touch the player we want.
  2. Wow what a tough audience, lumumba, Garlett, stretch and frost (if he comes) are all good upgrades in areas that we were down in. Inclusion of a couple of very high draft picks Brayshaw and possibly Lever and maybe one other are also big pluses and that still leaves us the possibility of picking up something in the rookie or PSD. I see all this as being extremely positive. If you follow the money ball philosophy we have upgraded in 5 or 6 positions which will make a huge difference. We will have a few of our previous draft picks getting bigger and stronger and hopefully improving their skills. And we should finally (in round 2) see Dawes and Hogan playing together in the forward line with some decent crumbers. Yes other clubs have picked up and lost players but you have to look at the actual net gain or loss also some of those trade may not work out, i.e. Collingwood got a new midfielder or two but lost one of their very best so by any measure they have lost a bit of ground there, they have lost lumumba which and had a few retirements. Geelong have gone tall and taken a big punt on MC being able to help them, it may work, but given past history you have to see there is a good chance it may not. As for footscray, lost griffin and several others clambering to leave the dog house, sacked their coach, may need to find a new game plan for next year and have given a kid a $1m a year. How do you think that is going to make those other doggie players feel, how do you think it is going to make GWS players still in Sydney feel. I dont think you have to worry about free agency anymore this trading event has shown that anyone who wants to walk away from their club to a new larger contract has a very good chance of doing so, so there is going to be a lot of money being thrown at players in contract, out of contract and free agents, and in amongst it all will be players who feel deeply under appreciated and under payed where they are. We will be far better in 2015 and even better again in 2016.
  3. maybe propose swapping pick 2 and 23 to gws for Toby green and pick 7, obviously pick two would be on the understanding that they dont touch brayshaw. they might go for it cause they love having the top picks each year. use 7 for lever.
  4. i still think the swans will be wanting to trade for some early draft picks whether with us or GWS or St Kilda as they can only recruit through trade picks so will be looking to get the best they can.
  5. When playing poker or trading you dont show your hand to the end, i suspect they are still be diligently listening to offers for pick 2, 3 and 23.
  6. Need to use all three picks and take the best we can. I would still expect StKilda may still do a deal with GWS, GWS is kinda fond of taking the best picks so will probably be prepared to swap 4 and 7 for 1. That will still leave Stkilda at least one tall forward to take with 4 and a second top 10 pick.
  7. its a template he has on his twitter account just insert @clubname here
  8. Bucks has to go to Bali to slip some Ruffies into Varcoes drink, hangover 4 where Varcoe wakes up in the morning and finds out his signed up to play for collingwood.....
  9. Yes i understand that they may not get many games though being big bodied mids they may find they can cope, quite a few sides had their first round draft picks playing early and regularly. Having 3 draftees means we have to cut out two or more superfluous/ordinary players that we may have had to keep if we only had one A+ grader like Kennedy. Again you also have to consider the risk if Kennedy sustains a long term injury, where does that leave us.
  10. We are substituting 3 potentially good players for 1 A+ grader, as such our list will have a couple of very ordinary players to make up the numbers. One A grader is not going to win us lots of games by himself, I have seen melbourne go down this path before with Tilbrook, Moore, Templeton, Clarke, etc.... we need a champion team not a team with a couple of champions in it. HL and Frost will help build up our backline, Stretch will add to the midfield and garlett and Hogan will add to our goal scoring capability. take two or three more top draft picks and add them to the midfield and we will be a heck of a lot more competitive next year. This year we probably had another 3 or 4 games we possibly could have won but we were still playing some pretty ordinary players who lacked skill, spending all our picks on one players means we keep more ordinary folk on our list. and god help us if we end up with our A+ player coming down with a long term injury. Supporters want to see improvement and know its going to be a few years before we are playing top grade football, buying one player is not going to get us up to that level any quicker when we still have to have two more ordinary players to make up the numbers.
  11. $$'s can change everyones view of the world, he could also be missing Melbourne or family. From a sydney point of view loosing Kennedy will give them some salary cap and possible help them getting their Cola addiction under control so that they can trade next year and of course there is the advantage of Sydney picking up 2 of 2014's top draft picks with maybe a 23 pick chucked as a tip. All handy stuff as they are not allowed to trade in any new talent.
  12. If we look to getting next to nothing for clarke then dont trade let him take his chances in the draft. This club needs to stand up to blackmail from players such as clarke who was happy enough to take our money for several years now wants to go to a more successful club to resume his career leaving us with virtually nothing.
  13. Picks 2 and 3 is far too much for one player, it is time this club backed itself and its ability to choose and support younger players. We are a few years a way from being a top 4 side so we have time to get young draft picks up and going, whereas kennedy will just be getting closer to his use by date. We also have to consider we are handing Sydney players that will set them up for the next 10 years for success.
  14. GNF like everyone else is trying to share what information he thinks he can share, if we go around castigating such posters because what they said does not come to fruition will only result in less people posting. It is a bulletin board and it carries a significant amount of potentially incorrect information. If you want only reliable information then dont use demonland go use google.
  15. totally agree get what we can for him and wish him luck, you know as they say in show biz......
  16. if he is on he long term injury spot then we can elevate a rookie anyway. Doing that way means we can see what all the rookies are like and elevate the one we like best or need the most as opposed to picking one now and being stuck with that choice.
  17. I thought sydney could trade their players for draft picks, but could not trade players for other players, if so they maybe looking to get as many early draft picks as this their sole source of new blood this year.
  18. It is often mentioned that Roos has said something to the effect of not wanting too many kids, does anyone actually have the quote. As i wonder if he was referring to light underdeveloped players as opposed to some of the big bodied draftees available.
  19. I would assume that we are looking at the Giants. GWS is chock full of talent so will not be looking to off load too many players as such they will not be looking to take too many in the draft so they will use what ever players they need to get rid of and what ever draft picks they have to ensure that they get as many early picks as they can.
  20. I dont understand the idea that Jack has been more loyal than all of the other players who have resigned contracts with melbourne that includes Watts and other. All are tradeable.
  21. team needs good balance, HL and Frost will give us a stronger backline, Strech and which ever mid we get with pick 2 will give us a faster/better mid field and taking a tall forward would help out hogan, we all know how exposed we were this year with only Dawes as our forward target, while garlett will help he will help most when the talls are competing in the air and he has the ground to himself to crumb. I like the idea of taking a good size mid and a tall forward/ruck.
  22. GWS will still be wanting early picks so they guarantee Petracca so they need to deal with us or StKilda or both. For stKilda to give up pick one they need to give them a big forward like the one they are likely to miss if they trade down to pick 4. So probably easier for GWS to trade with us as they can also cover Frost in the same deal. Re the Clarke deal we should do this with Geelong by ourselves get a draft pick and be done with it, then collingwood can chase us to do the swap for HL, if they dont we hopefully have another good draft pick and collingwood have to continue to paying HL
