  1. This was stated on the AFL website in regards to our trade whispers :Other clubs will be eyeing off the No.2 draft pick the Demons have put on the table. Trying to find a package that might convince the Demons to hand it over will be the difficult part. A couple of reasonable midfielders under 24 might do the trick but as everyone knows, they don't just grow on trees.(Peter Ryan) So, I feel what Peter thinks is that we wont be looking for a straight swap for a midfielder.. we would want 2 reasonable mids if we were to trade the pick.
  2. I actually think you have some good ideas. I like the Tapscott trade, that would be enough to entice Adelaide for sure. The L. Jetta one is certainly from left field... I like your thinking.. but I personally would be more include to offer that pick for a David Myers? Although I definitely would love Zac Jones on our list next year... I feel we may have to pull the trigger at 20 to get him though.
  3. Gws and Gc both have 1st round compo picks. So Gws' pick would fall at 19
  4. I think the Saints are on the way down... so I feel theyll still have a little bit left next season. Guys like Riewoldt, Dal Santo, Fisher, Mogtagna etc probably wont be there come 2015.. Thats when I feel we will over take them. Dont get me wrong I think we can be a better team than them next season (for what its worth I feel we could be better than a few teams) but i would be surprised if the Saints COMPLETELY dropped off next season.. As mentioned in this thread already their mids are quite decent.. probably a top 8 midfield... but outside of riewoldt and fisher their kpd/kpf stocks arent overly strong... especially their kpd. Also- Isn't it a nice change that Demon fans are writing about how bad other teams can be instead of ours ( I know this is a 'who'll be worse thread' but still!
  5. Kris Pendlebury worth a shot as a mature ages defender?
  6. What about Jordan Schroder from the Cats? Youngest winner of the JJ Liston trophy since a guy called Sammy Mitchell. With that being said, I dont think the cats will let him go.... still, none the less, worth a shot.
  7. Im pretty sure he was the 2012 CHF in the VFL team of the year.
  8. if you saw him play this year, you would notice he did not at all look finished. He was only dropped through Libbas emergence and their drafting of Hrovat,Hunter,Macrae etc.. He played some very good football. PLus, His inside game will help the likes of Toumpas,Blease etc because they will have more of an oppurtunity to get the ball on the outside where they are able to use it. Plus! He is a very good contested player. With his addition suddenly our +/- cont. possie, clearance ratios start to swing back to the positive. Some may bring up his kicking... but IMO his kicking wont really be relied upon. Hes generally a handball player as it stands anyways. I honestly don't feel he will be a list clogger... Guys like Rodan,Byrnes etc werent getting games because they were speed and spread players and the game had passed them by. Cross would have gotten a game had the Bulldogs not chosen to draft so many mids. Even though he played better than all bar 3-4 of their mids, they need to develop them. Nobody on this site could possibly have a negative view on him playing for us... If you do well..... bring some evidence as to why or let it go. Im actually excited by the prospect of Cross, and what he will bring.
  9. Captaincy comes down to leadership imo... Look at some of the more recent captains... Tom Harley, Cameron Ling, Nick Maxwell, Nathan Van Berlo etc... People wouldnt be calling them A grade players but they are A grade individuals.. I think Grimes is among them as an A grade person who will give his all for the club and then some.
  10. A funny look back on our year, from Bigfooty. They issue some awards such as best ruckman, best backman and best player for the year etc... Quite comical. Very light hearted look for anyone who is interested! The link! http://mfcdemonblog.blogspot.com.au/2013/09/2013-demonblog-end-of-year-spectacular.html
  11. Just a quick Bio, so we know a bit more about him. Age: 20yr 10mth Games: 16 Born: October 12, 1992 Height: 188cm Weight: 85kg Position: Midfield
  12. Agreed. I heard It was likely Jones would co-captain with Grimes. We all know Paul Roos rates co-captains... The Sydney model is still running with them today.
  13. Earlier in the year, I said to keep an eye on a guy called Jake Owen from the cannons. He was highlighted today by Nick Dal Santo as a kid who should win the Morrish Medal ... definitely a great player with a great attitude.
  14. I remember reading an article on the AFL website about Melbourne and it mentioned Stark. It went on to to say hes been injured all year but the main thing i got from it was that they really rated him.. He's only 19 and it said he could really play. Just injured a bit. Worth persisting with, for at least another season.
  15. Definitely have to look at lower! Very unlucky to be delisted. Over on big footy the bulldogs fans were in shock that he was cut. I guess wallis coming on as a tagger stamped his ticket... Definitely would be at the top oft list!
  16. I'm just curious... what's with all the hate on giving players like Toumpas, Kent etc more AFL games? Kents form has warranted him playing.... If we drop our players who are preforming isnt that tanking? I know I would much rather play for Melbourne than Casey. Im sure all players on the list would... Im staggered by the hate given to Craig, Jackson etc for this? Theres only one way to dvelop players at AFL level and thats to play them there.
  17. I know its early, but AFL Draft, Trade, Free Agency, List and General News. on facebook made their own mock draft. They are quite credible, as they are ran by the Supercoach Paige or are closely related too, plus they take a fans perspective. At the moment they have us taking Aish at #2 and Alex Spina at pick #21.
  18. I am sure Brisbane would give up their first round pick or maybe even Polec and a 2nd or a 3rd rounder for Watts... especially if Brown retires. Even if people feel that's overs (I dont) i
  19. This is why I am excited for our future.... Viney, to me, seems like the type of man that pushes his team mates and him self to be the absolute best they can be.. he is a culture setter.
  20. This is probably one of the few times in recent memory that we've actually had young players really preforming at VFL level and banging on the door for selection.... But at the same time they have a chance to play finals... IMO Taggert should debut round 23 against the dogs. It would do him the world of good and the players will have some confidence going in, due to beating them earlier this year. The way Gawn has been playing, Spencer would be worrying about his spot... How many times have Melbourne players had to worry about their spot in the team?? The wheels are slowly starting to turn, we are seeing some players develop, some players (Viney) show their passion.... Toumpas is showing why he was so highly rated, all he needs is time and 1 or 2 pre seasons until he has an impact on games on a regular basis.... There are some very bright prospects at Melbourne... the future is there, as supporters all we need to do is hang in there and soon enough, we will reap the rewards for our patience.
  21. Watts isn't rated due to him being the leagues whipping boy. The fact of the matter is he is worth quite a bit. I base this on if you were to ask any team in the league would they have him in their best 22.. you would be hard pressed to find a team that says no..
