  1. Okay, so i dug a little deeper. Any thoughts on players such as Savage from the hawks? Ellis from the Hawks? Nahas from the Tiges? Dal santo from the Saints? Montagna from the saints? Gary Rohan from the swans? Mitch Brown from the Eagles? Jake Bachelor from the Tigers? Harry Taylor from the Cats? Duscher from the Essendon VFL? Bonnadio from Port Melbourne? Josh Drummond as a development coach (currently at NM) Scott Burns as a mid coach (currently at the Eagles) Adam Yze as a forward coach (currently at the Hawks) could a return with a few other past players reignite this club?
  2. There is an interesting article posted on the Herald Sun website, It involves Tom scully being refered to as a 'bust'. I can't access this article, but for whoever can, please bring some happiness to this whole forum. P.s. Jesse Hogan, Dom Barry and Chris Dawes for Tom Scully.... I guess we do make smart choices after all! P.s.s. Maybe Kevin Sheedy has a soft spot for us demons after all!
  3. I think that may be all we need.. The players mentioned from you guys, are players we really should make a play for. Looking at clubs like Sydney, Hawthorn and the more successful teams... alot and i mean alot of their lists would come by way of trades. Maybe we try a different approach and follow their leads.
  4. I reckon we could start a positive debate on what we, as a fan base, would like to see happen at the end of the year. I know its still in the early stages of the season. But, I have been looking around at what things could be done to help Melbourne on field (instead of just ripping into every player that makes a mistake). I think, we should target players that have been in the system for 2-3 years or there abouts, that aren't breaking into their respective teams. Fringe players for example. A player that caught my attention, was Jake Melksham, from Essendon. His contract is up at the end of the year, he was from the same draft as Trengove. I reckon he could be worth a look at. I also think there could be a few diamonds in the rough, in.... Jared Patrenko- Could really flourish if given a lot of games, has an injury history. Only 23 and I think he is a very good player. Jared Polec- A player that was a high draft pick, very good signs early in his career, but has started to slow off. I think he could become a very very good player if he were to land at Melbourne. Only 20 years old. Jayden Pitt- Another one like Polec, hasn't been given alot of chances over his first 3 years. Change of seen could help. Turns 21 in October. Maverick Weller- Another one of the youngsters from Gold Coast, Could be time a few of them start looking for greener pastures. This is just a few I think are worth a look
  5. Are you sure? I'm pretty sure Tynan has played 1 or 2 games? that's hardly fair to judge him so harshly.... and Evans is playing the best footy of his career right now..
  6. Very good work! Looking at some of those names, especially numbers 2-9, I think our list isn't as bad as it seems. With the addition of Hogan and most likely a top 5 pick, we are in a good position moving forward. You're citing of Watts is spot on, he is an undoubted talent, one i'm backing. Once again good review, I look forward to the rest!
  7. Trengove struggling? if 10 tackle is struggling, i cant wait to see what top form is. Trengove is on the improve after a very VERY limited pre season....
  8. Why take such a negative approach? Maybe its all about getting his mind right, i dare suspect that is possibly why he was re-selected....... seeing how much it hurt not playing either game last week.
  9. Did you see his pre season? He played sub par round 1, sure, and round 2 he was ill the whole game. He does have good form on the board.
  10. Could not agree more. Blease's form at the end of last year, showed that he is improving.
  11. I'm sorry, but i just don't understand how so many people have gone into meltdown after 1 game. Our loss was bad, yes. But, wasn't Brisbanes? how about St Kilda's? We had a terrible second half yes. That's because the flood gates had opened. IMO the second quarter wasn't too bad. There was definitely some signs of good play. How about instead of deciding everything and anything involved with the MFC needs to go, and talking about losing by 20+ goals, we wait until we have all our key players back. We wait until players are 100%. We support this team. Things are only going to get better if you take a positive attitude and actually believe that they will get better. I have the up most confidence that Melbourne are not as bad as people on here, in the media or where ever are making them out to be. Oh, and i might add a quote from Chris Scott last night on Footy classified and that quote is 'One game doesn't make a season'. It doesn't. I am still very excited for this year and the years to come because i believe that we will be a very good football team in the near future.
  12. Wow, I cannot even begin to believe how some Melbourne supporters are acting. Yes, Melbourne played poorly, yes some players didnt have great games. But, it is not the end of the world, it's round 1 for crying out loud. We had 7 new players in the side yesterday. We were missing our captain Chb and Chf. The things they add to our structure and leadership is paramount. Take nothing away from Port Adelaide, they came out and made a statement, their pressure and play was amazing. I dare say they could have beaten anybody today. Things happen in footy. Why dont we back our team up and wait a few more games before hitting the panic button and calling for peoples heads. Seriously, show some faith and confidence in your team.
  13. A huge over reaction, how quickly people are prepared to jump ship on a player who only just played their first game astounds me. Toumpas has the class, heart and dedication that our club needs and people are prepared to write him off after one game? Yet, they will be one of the first to claim to have 'backed him' WHEN he becomes the star us demon fans know he is capable of being. Stick by your players and reap the benefits later when those doubters have been proved wrong.
  14. . With the list turn over we had its no surprise. Although for the first time in a long time.. i feel like we have depth in the list. We arent relyig on guys to 'develop'. We have ready made players or guys who are there abouts competing for spots.
  15. That is a fair call, However i feel Watts (people place a lot on him) Would certainly walk ito a top 4 backline. He is a sublime user of the ball and is as athleticly gifted as they come. He could very well have a huge year this year and prove the doubters wrong.I'm sure he could very well have a huge year and prove the doubters wrong. I know you were not paying out on Watts, but any chance i get i defend him. However in saying this you made some good points.
  16. But i am tending to believe this more I think you are wrong with this. Under father-son rules Melbourne must use their next pick after the one that another club nominates Viney. Regardless of whether that is pick 26 or 70 it won't matter. Viney will be a demon in 2013.
  17. As Viney is still yet to sign a contract with the Melbourne Football Club, which he can only do AFTER the National Draft - it means that Viney is not technically on Melbourne's books. IF Melbourne are found guilty for deliberately throwing games to ensure priority selections, the ramifications will mean that Melbourne miss out on the first three rounds of the National Draft. Put Simply, picks that are in the first three rounds in the National Draft are pick 4, 27 and pick 49. Pick 27 has bee assigned to Jack Viney. For those of you not catching my drift, it will mean that Melbourne will NOT be able to take Viney at pick 27 as that pick, amongst others will be stripped off Melbourne. It means that Jack Viney would go into the draft like most other hopeful draftees, and could end up anywhere in the country. The only way the dees could still secure Jack Viney is if teams decide to pass on him. If teams do pass on him, the dees could select him with their fourth round selection, at pick 70. Given that Jack Viney is considered to be a top 10 talent, one would suggest that he would be well and truly snapped before pick 70. On a side note, wouldn't it be ironic that the team that Melbourne allegedly "tanked" in, against Richmond, could be the very team who could take him inside the top ten in this years draft? There could still be hope for Melbourne fans, that the AFL might show some sort of "mercy" or "empathy" for the dees, and allow them to take Viney regardless, however I would imagine it wouldn't sit well with opposing supporters.
  18. the first point is the only one that would be 'tanking'... the last three points as was stated above happen week in week out...
  19. He was delisted by the Kangaroos today. I personally think he would be worth a shot. What are other peoples thoughts? Has shown he can kick goals.
  20. Rumour going around that Gysberts to essendon Prismall and a 4th round pick to Melbourne.
