NAB Challenge 2 - Melbourne v Geelong
Ted Lasso replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
So are we certain Dawes won't play? didn't he play in the intra club and run it out alright? -
and alot of their stars are underpaid in order to stay together, that's an extra two A grade players.

Bombers scandal: charged, <redacted> and <infracted>
Ted Lasso replied to Jonesbag's topic in Melbourne Demons
Simply for the doctor not to know and okay every substance administered to the players by the club is appalling imo, not sure if that is the fault of the doctor or the club or both but it's a serious breakdown in ethical practice either way. -

So assuming Dawes isn't right, we bring in Hogan and Fitzy yeah? that's not the worst couple of tall forwards -
I think both are good enough to play in the firsts but i reckon Roosy will want them to earn the spot, won't be gifting games to the younger boys if Michie, Bail and Matt Jones are playing well
-
I agree with all of the above points, but i also feel we are well on the way to adressing all of them too, don't have a superstar, but we have players with superstar potential in the midfield and George stone and Paul Roos guiding them and we have Jesse Hogan don't have a jarryd roughead yet, but we have Clark, Dawes, Hogan, Howe who are all capable of kicking multiple goals and Hogan and Clark are capable of being superstars imo dangerous small forward, Kent, Barry,Blease and Kennedy- Harris may develop into that role half back i think jack Grimes will relish being back there and our midfield of Jack Trengove, Jack Viney, Dom Tyson, Matt Jones, Nathan Jones, Bernie Vince, Daniel Cross, Viv Michie, Jack Watts, Jimmy Toumpas, Christian Salem, Jordie Mckenzie suddenly looks AFL standard

Interested to see if the same effort we put in against Richmond, adding Watts, Viney, Dawes and Hogan to the side and conditions we are used to up north will be enough to get us over the line, i think it will be a very tight game, at least for 3 quarters. -
depends on your definition of star, i certainly think Jeremy howe has the ability to break a game open and win us a close game by kicking 3-4 goals in a big quarter, i think Dom Tyson will be our next genuine star, little bit of scotty west about him in my opinion
-
Probably not long, but if him dragging a defender of Clark, Dawes or Hogan and them playing on a small running defender is the result i am extremely happy with that.
-
I think it's Jeremy howe, playing on a 4th defender, he is going to be capable of kicking multiple goals in not very long

Yeah, my thinking is that Roos will look to keep alot of the same structure, if clark isn't in Fitzy or Pederson would be next in line, it's fantastic the 18 games in 18 days plan they have at the moment -

certainly couldn't play 4 big forwards if you're going to have clark, dawes and hogan all playing, so i'd say if it's our best 22 it's Spencer/Gawn/jamar and Clark always have Watts, Hogan and co to chop out -

with the interchange cap in place Clark or Fitz will provide relief ruck, the main ruckman will be decided by who is the best ruckman, also most effective around the ground, also who has the ability to play forward, for mine gawn isn't our best out and out ruckman, has the potential to develop in that area though, he is the best around the ground we have, and he can play forward better than spencer or Jamar imo -

Think two specialist Tillman will be harder to maintain with our Young side and the interchange cap, we might need the extra legs to much, gain and Clark for me -
I'm not sure about making the 8, i'd love if at the end of 2014 mfc were no longer considered easy beats, the players no longer considered jokes, even if we don't play finals we could be a team that other teams don't automatically pencil in as a win, and start building towards something.

I can't see any reason why Gawn can't develop into a solid AFL ruckman, these big blokes take time. -
WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - BERNIE VINCE

i'd be smiling too if i was getting paid a fortune to play under Paul Roos at the oldest club in the land just as the tide starts to turn for them. -

Win against the tigers was great but how many times in recent years have we gone and dropped the ball the next week, a really good four quarter effort against a genuine quality side in the cats will have me and i'm sure the players and alot of other supporters convinced we are well and truely on the way back. -
Barrett has been quiet for a while must have realised north really aren't that flash
-
Absolutely the should imo.
