CHANGES : Rd 08 vs St. Kilda
While i think you're probably right, ANB is one of the fittest at the club, so if anyone is able to bounce back quickly it'd be him.

Farewell Luke Jackson
Given that's from the Age i take it with a grain of salt, but the way it reads makes me think Jackson would definitely like to stay short term, but long term he's not sure, and he needs to really think about it given Melbourne is clearly planning on him being a key part of the footy club. if that's the case it is an integrity move to not commit and then demand a trade later.

Christian Salem - Straight back to the backline or something different?
yeah fair bit of Jack Watts about him early days, love Wattsy, ripper bloke, loves a swim, but probably could have done more with his talent.

Christian Salem - Straight back to the backline or something different?
It appears to be a bit of a hybrid role, Brayshaw is definitely covering the defensive hole plugging elements of the role, and he's very good at that. but there also seems to be an effort to get the ball into Boweys hands where possible.

Christian Salem - Straight back to the backline or something different?
For me, Salem has really made that half back position his own, he's still improving all the time in the role and is becoming one of the very best in the Business in terms of that half back general type player. he walks right back into that role, and Bowey stays as well. i'd say it's Hunt and Rivers fighting for their spots against Hibberd

Dylan Shiel
Would be interesting to see how much of the AFL media would retain their job if they were made to work under a zero tolerance policy for dishonest reporting, and they had to be able to back up everything they report with reliable sources. Most just see a situation, make a string of assumptions, and when lightning strikes and their guess turns out to be right they pat themselves on the back for it.

Membership Tally 2022
Geez that's exciting! it's amazing how much success helps! Gary Pert nailed it in the recent interview, we're really battling for the next generation of kids, when you're on top you're more likely to be chosen and that's how you build your fan base into the future and become a powerhouse club. this really feels like a totally different club now from what it was from 2007-2012

Low Attendance
For me personally it's been a time thing, work schedule doesn't really permit going to the footy and the risk of covid is kinda the icing on the cake, when you can watch it on Kayo and not have that risk, it's pretty appealing. Having said that i'll probably go this weekend and make a complete hypocrite of myself

MFC Rebranding for Indigenous Round
I love the new Jumper! looks a beautiful design! honestly the one guernsey i buy each year is our indigenous strip! it's always beautiful and one thing our great club does really well is our respect and celebration for indigenous culture. I love the re-branding and hope that when we next re-brand we consider adopting at least some of these ideas full time.

Dylan Shiel
I actually quite like him as a player, just needs to tidy up his disposal, but no doubt Choco would help with that. Ultimately for it to happen and him to come to Melbourne the Bombers would have to accept very little in return, and pay a good amount of his salary. I suspect North, St Kilda and Hawthorn would all be interested.

COACHES VOTES: Round 7, 2022
Geez Max Gawn is incredible. year after year he's just the best in his position, up there in all the AFL awards and an amazing leader. Can only imagine the smile Jim Stynes would have looking down on the career his mate Max is carving out!
- Extended contract for Simon Goodwin?

Angus Brayshaw Re-Signs Until 2028
From memory Gus has made a habit of taking his time with contract decisions, it's hard to imagine him going anywhere other than Fremantle, but personally i just can't imagine him actually wanting to leave.

When was the last time you watched Melbourne lose?
I think it was the Giants game as well actually? i can't really remember

What They Are Saying at Moorabbin
Have seen the Saints pretty closely this year and what i will say if you look at Higgins for example, he scores so many out the back goals that we just won't allow, Membrey and King are threats in the air, but we have good match ups for them. and our midfield should have the quality to create enough chances to win. bottom line is i think the Saints offensively have been able to score goals in ways better teams won't allow and with that method restricted, i don't know if they have the quality as a straight up footy side to beat us over 4 quarters, while acknowledging they're much improved and could easily win enough games to play finals and even win a final, just don't think they're in the bracket of the Melbournes, Sydney, fremantle, Brisbane teams yet
-
NON-MFC: Round 07, 2022
For me i think Brisbane struggle against the better defensive sides, we showed in the qualifying final last year that if you take away their marks inside 50, they are so reliant on Cameron and it's just not enough. i honestly think this is why they've failed to make a grand final so far. I think Freo defensively are good enough to restrict Brisbane but i have question marks over their fire power up forward, they're the most similar to us but i think they lack the pure quality we have in the midfield, the depth we have, and i think we have more fire power

MY TOP DOZEN CURRENT DEMONS
Love this! okay mine in order. 1. Max Gawn (clearly the best at his position, and has been for a long time) 2. Clayton Oliver (Will retire as Melbournes greatest ever midfielder. 3. Christian Petracca (His best is up there with the best of any player i've ever seen) 4. Steven May (Just ultra consistent, rarely gets beaten 5. Ed Langdon (Such an important cog in our success) 6. Jake Lever 7. Christian Salem 8. Angus Brayshaw ( Wanted to put him higher, ultimate team player. 9. Jack Viney ( the fact a bloke this good is 9 explains why we're going the way we're going 10. Ben Brown 11. Harry Petty 12. Alex Neal-Bullen. The fact this list was as tough as it is really highlights the scary depth of quality we have. we have 20 blokes who could walk in and be in the first few picks at most clubs.
-
Will Max Gawn ever be recognised as the best player in the league?
My personal opinion on Max is he's going to retire as Melbournes greatest ever player, and probably the greatest ever ruckman full stop. looks likely to finish with 8-9 All Australians, probably 1-4 as AA captain, could definitely win a brownlow, probably multiple premiership captain.

POSTGAME: Rd 07 vs Hawthorn
Just had to win, 5 changes, chemistry completely thrown, Viney and Lever clearly underdone, and game not played on our ters for extended periods. and we just grinded a win out. super impressive.

Farewell Luke Jackson
Agreed, It's hard to se West Coast wanting to part with any high end draft picks, and it's hard to see any players they have that would interest us. Fremantle is a bit similar in that it'd likely take a combination of players and picks to get a deal done, and they're obviously pretty happy with how they're tracking

Goodwin, Jackson, Pickett, Sparrow, Petty & Neal-Bullen All Out with COVID
I think the clubs approach to this has been correct in terms of acknowledging the reality that a week like this was inevitable and it's much better to have that happen at week 7 than later in the season. really hoping to see a really strong performance from Bedford and Melksham in particular, even McDonald, just to really keep the pressure on the guys in the 22 to hold their spot.
-
Farewell Luke Jackson
I reckon if it were me i'd be thinking i could win multiple flags in the next few years here, no gurantee either W.A club gets anywhere near this level anytime soon. he also knows in 2-3 years he's going to be the number 1 ruckman and there is no doubt the level he's currently playing at is in part due to the combination and support of Gawn, it really allows him to play to his strengths and develop naturally. there is no doubt he'd find the situation much more difficult at West Coast for example where all eyes are on him.

GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Hawthorn
I'm really confident we win this because thankfully the out's seem to be more around the edges players the fact our midfield, backline, and forward line have remained mainly in tact is great. I think it'll be similar to our previous games, the Hawks will fight pretty hard but at some point we will have 5-6 minute patch where we put the foot down and kick 4-5 goals quickly and that'll be the game.

Farewell Luke Jackson
From the club the messaging is that they're extremely confident and i think Gary Lyon? said he thinks he's likely to sign a short term deal, or one is on the table already. Outside the club 'Big name W.A player who hasn't re-signed with melbourne, here is an easy headline' reality, probably only Luke Jackson knows what he's going to do, but either we keep him which would be great or we likely win our second flag in 2 years and then start figuring out what we're going to do with pick 1, and what else we'd need to get the deal done
