  1. Geez this is an ordinary take, anyone would think you're an undercover port supporter with this kind of uneducated, irrational rubbish, honestly i hope it's chemically induced because if these are genuinely your thoughts you may be beyond help.
  2. I would agree, but i also think if we play our best, Brisbane won't be good enough to beat us.
  3. Also worth noting it was a practice match where 4 or 5 of our premiership backline was missing, the players have mentioned repeatedly that it was a wake up call for them, i suspect if we were playing Carlton this saturday it'd be similar to the Saints game and we'd really set ourselves to make a statement.
  4. This is the important thing, they'll have to consistently outmark May, Petty, Lever, Gawn to be able to kick a winning score with their one wood. but i look at our side and outside weitering, i don't see much capacity to stop our forwards. guys like Docherty and Williams would have to play much more accountable on guys like Fritsch and Kozzie and that limits their ability to really run and create plus they might be able to guard Brown or McDonald but the other will surely bob up, and the resting ruckman down there becomes a huge worry for them
  5. I agree that Carlton at their best are probably the biggest threat we have. i don't think the Lions style stands up in big finals, Dockers aren't there yet and Swans are inconsistent. In saying that i am coming to terms with the fact we are just comfortably the best side in it, the same commentators thought the Saints had us ripe for the picking, and in a half of football we entered beast mode, sat them on their backsides and went back into cruise control.
  6. Out: Langdon, Melksham In: Salem, Viney,
  7. Essendon supporters aren't smart people in my experience, they'll have centrelink payments to blow on the pokies well before the game starts.
  8. How good does the Indigenous kit look? definitely my favourite one so far!
  9. Considering North have approx 7 fans total, i doubt they're saying much. seriously why they don't pack up and move to Tassie is beyond me
  10. Hard to read what Dimma has said and not think Dusty leaving or retiring is a MASSIVE possibility, if not certain

I did post that before looking at the scores and noticed CP had a shocker in the NBA playoffs so i regret the comparison, but i think it's valid in terms of influence that isn't necessarily picked up by stats

Geez he's an impressive individual. you've gotta take your hat off to the recruiting staff, listening to him speak he sounds like a born leader.

He's our Chris Paul, i know that's a strange comparison given different sports but CP doesn't always have massive stats but his influence on the game in terms of leadership, setting the tone and team first defensive actions is as good as anyone in the comp. He's just the heart and soul of the team, i look at Essendon atm and wouldn't they love a bloke to have 20 touches, 12 tackles and bring that level of intensity and care. I spoke to a current Melbourne player randomly a couple of weeks back and he just said when you've got guys like Steven May, Jack Viney, Max Gawn and Clayton Oliver out their having your back, it makes the game so much easier.
  14. First time i've really watched the kid play properly to be honest, but my main take away outside of the 6 goals is physically he looks ready to go and runs really well. I reckon he'll make his debut this season, and might be hard to get out of the side.
  15. i got the sense watching the game that we wanted to absolutely wallop them, but we tried so hard we lost a little bit of the connection inside 50 and made some bad decisions with that last kick. I think west Coasts hunt of the ball and willingness to play absolute chaos football threw us a little bit as well, but ultimately as a good side we got the job done is really solid fashion and move onto next week
  16. I still laugh when i think back to draft night when we call out his name and David King goes "Some people are born with it all, a 175cm red head"
  17. 6. Viney 5. May 4. Brayshaw 3. Pickett 2. Petracca 1. McDonald
  18. Out: Harmes In: Laurie
  19. Wouldn't mind Nathan Buckley getting a phone call IF Yze gets a senior gig, just listening to his speak i reckon he'd be a great asset in Yze's role
  20. I have a theory Gus has already agreed or signed, it just hasn't been announced and that's why Goody was so strong and Gawn is taking the absolute Pizz out of Gus and the situation
  21. Potentially to give Bailey Fritsch a little reminder that in a side like ours you can't have too many down games. (I'm not saying Bailey Fritsch should or will be dropped anytime soon)
  22. We wanted to see him improve his defensive game, we loved what he did on offense but he simply didn't work hard enough the other way and would fade out of games completely as a result. The dogs offered him job security and more consistent games in the seniors so pretty easy decision for all involved there Fortunately for MH he got to be there on the day when the team that drafted him had the ultimate success
  23. I agree completely, whoever accepts the Giants job i think needs to be eyes open that there is going to be some tough decisions to make and some challenging times ahead, they almost need to bottom out to re-build the list to be more even across the 22.

The polls and surveys done on this were really clear that the preference was a day grand final, really interesting decision by the AFL here.
  25. That is an incredible presser to give RE: Gus if the deal isn't either already done, or well on the way. Goody has always been pretty honest with that sort of stuff so for him to come out and say he expects Gus to be a Melbourne player for most or all of his career can only, in my mind speak to an incredible confidence he isn't going anywhere.
