  1. If we are going to take Oliver at 3 ahead of Parish the recruiters must have seen something amazing in Oliver, from what i've seen he's been pumped up way more than his actual ability as a player.
  2. I think you're probably spot on, ultimately a lot of it is luck is Parish going to be a Gaff or a Toumpas? is Oliver going to be a Wines or a Riley
  3. Please, i rate him somewhere between 5 and 7 but Essendon will pick him if we don't, and i don't think we will.
  4. I like the thinking of drafting two hard tough players again, i'm just not sure Taylor and co will be sold enough on the very limited good form Oliver has shown vs players who have shown as much, only over a longer period of time.
  5. Exactly why having a laugh at that term is a bit silly, it ultimately is a lottery, best available to me is the best player based on exposed form and information regardless of positional needs. when you look at Parish you see a guy who's been consistently good over a long period of time, resulting in two All Australian selections and has shown plenty to suggest he'll be a very good AFL player and is a low risk choice at that selection hence best available option. Sam Weiderman or Charlie Curnow might well be seen as better players in 5 years time, but both could potentially also be flops, curnows had injuries and now a pretty big error of judgement off field and Weiderman has had a very serious injury, so both are risks on that alone, plus on exposed form having seem all three live i am not of the opinion they're as good as Parish as a player for the here and now.
  6. I reckon we have indirectly, Jason Taylor has said we'd take best available at pick 3, i find it hard to consider Weiderman or Curnow as being better players right now outside of a more pressing positional need, Parish at this moment is the best player at that pick imo
  7. i think, academy picks aside it'll be 1. Wietering 2. Schache 3. Parish 4. Francis 5. Curnow 6. Milera 7. Weideman 8. Balic 9. Oliver 10. Mathieson
  8. He wants to play for the Bombers, might be the only bloke in Australia but pick 3 is to high for him and he won't last until pick 7
  9. Which is i think a direct result of the ease of movement, moving home is always going to be tempting when it's so easy having said that Jesse Hogan, who has been quite homesick at times and very close to his family imo has been managed perfectly by the MFC, i think there is a lot of mutual respect there, he knows we will do the right thing by him, and also knows how important he is to everything we're trying to build.
  10. Must admit i am surprised you want Parish picket.
  11. Watching to many highlights mate. Parish runs through the centre and opens the game up, takes players on, generally hits his target and brings his team into the game Oliver gets it and bombs long, he's a brute but so was Aiden Riley. Parish to me is an Andrew Gaff clone but better at winning the inside ball, maybe Dan Hannebry Oliver seems to have alot of people seduced by the Cripps/Wines comparisons and not as much on what he's actually done.
  12. Bontempelli was on the radar for alot longer than Oliver has been, Collingwood wanted him that whole year, Oliver didn't look like being drafted at one point. Parish is fast, skillful, can win his own ball, uses it well, makes great decisions and has a body of work to prove he's able to do it consistently. it's a no brainer at pick 3, not against Oliver at 7 but i don't think he's in the same league as Parish having seen both live.
  13. Absolute rubbish, on his best day Parish would run rings around him on the outside and is more than capable on the inside, i wouldn't at all surprised if he slips out of the top 10, impressive sure, but he's come from nowhere, Parish has been All Australian 2 years in a row.
  14. He's worth the risk at pick 7, not pick 3 when a player as good is Parish is an option.
  15. To the ridiculous comparisons between Parish and Toumpas Clayton Oliver averaged 14 contested touches in the TAC cup Parish averaged 13 and 16 uncontested, and was infinitely more damaging on the outside, he's a match winner. plus he's done it 2 years in a row, Oliver has only really had a good half a season, at least Wines had a body of work behind him.
  16. Parish and weiderman would be a dream result. i reckon if he played all year weiderman would push top 2
  17. What a load of rubbish, unless Jason Taylor walked in on Parish snorting coke i'd bet my left one he is still the front runner for pick 3, all signs pointing to him
  18. Must admit, i know a few guys at other clubs who wouldn't mind him coming across, he, Gus, Tmac and Hogan seem to be pretty well respected already.
  19. Just because his name is similar to Ollie doesn't mean anything, his body of work over the past two years has not been anything like Ollie Wines, at the start of this year he wasn't even tipped to be drafted... he's come from nowhere.
  20. It's honestly not all that bad, the intent is there, sometimes he struggles to bring down bigger bodies but he's having a dip, bit of time in the gym and that will improve
  21. 3, Curnow 7.Mckay Petracca Mckay Watts Curnow Hogan Garlett pretty handy
  22. We can't rely on Dawes or Pederson to spearhead the attack if Hogan is out for whatever reasons, we clearly need at least one tall in those two picks.
  23. Parish and Weiderman/Mckay/Curnow sorted i reckon haha
  24. I still think people are underselling the gap here honestly, Parish is a much better inside player than people think, he averaged 29 touches per game in the TAC cup, but about 45% of those were contested, he averages about as many contested possessions per game as Oliver and is far and away more dangerous on the outside, and had backed it up over a two year body of work inc dual all Australian, where Oliver for example has really only come good this season after some serious question marks about if he'd even be drafted.
  25. If that happened and say Carlton bid pick 1 for him, Weitering would be a lion, and we'd be silly not to take Schache at 3 i would have thought, can't imagine it happening though, we bid pick 2 for Heeney last year.
