  1. Interchange cap imo is going to do two things. encourage stay at home forwards a little bit more, and probably mean any third forwards are going to be backup ruck or resting ruckman i don't think we'll be going for any more than one tall in the draft given we still have Hogan, Dawes, Gawn who'd all be at this stage in the 22 i'd say.
  2. I'd use it as an equalization measure, so if there are four academy players, they're essentially mini draft picks that the bottom four sides can trade, or take if they choose, good way to get the bottom sides to rise quickly
  3. I reckon that's the deal, Roosy is the MFC's bullet shield this season, he will take all the heat and let Goodwin settle into the role over the year
  4. The most obvious admission of guilt is the actions of the EFC, dragging the saga out, turning over a huge number of players, they're trying to make sure even if they're found guilty they don't lose 3/4 on the team. First appeal was a blatant attempt to get off on a technicality rather than prove innocence James Hird might still be appealing something, he is that far off the rails.
  5. Christian Petracca is one, last pre season i had him and Chunk on par in terms of standards in training, he could come in and have a Hogan-like impact. another pre season into Brayshaw and Salem should see them play in the middle abit more.
  6. To be fair, he couldn't settle into the speed of AFL footy because he was never really given the chance, the kids got some ability, i'd consider this a typical Roos pick up, at worst he is no worse than Michie and co, so more depth, and at best he could easily become a very hand AFL level player.
  7. I think people misunderstand the academies a bit, the players are rated so highly because they have been through that program, they're talented players, not necessarily as talented as what this draft position may reflect, but they've been under intense AFL training programs with development coaches, it's like if we got Parish at the end of last year and gave him a year under Roos and McCartney, i guarantee he'd be rated as the number 1 or 2 pick now It's a huge advantage, we got to use it on Hogan and Viney
  8. Parish is a must for pick 3 Clear choice.
  9. Sam frost is going to arrive big time in 2016 playing at chb
  10. Emma's opinion on the draft is one I have nothing but respect for but personally think Parish is too low there.
  11. If he had been better on the set shots he could easily have gone very close to All Australian this year, improves that area and suddenly he could be a 50 goal a year small forward and that's in a struggling team, as we rise so will he
  12. We may as well start contract negotiations with weitering now in all seriousness though i think any top 10 draft pick should be locked into a three year term, allow the players the chance to really settle in before Hawthorn rocks up
  13. Which is most likely to become a dominant power forward in their own right in case, god forbit, Hogan gets injured or leaves or something, our depth is non existent there at the minute.
  14. Agreed, could easily be a flop. Parish and whoever they think is best of Weiderman, Mckay or Oliver
  15. if we play finals next year, strong possibility Roosy regrets not hanging around a bit longer i reckon, with the core we are starting to build, couple more young guns coming through the draft this year, doing something like Hawthorn is not out of the question.
  16. My info on this is that Jesse's manager is doing his job, well aware big offers are going to come, wants jesse to put in another really good year and then squeeze out the best possible deal for his client, could sign for 5 years at a million right now and then find out 12 months later it might have been 8 years at 1.5 when the MFC were a bit more worried. all indications seem to be that he'll stay with us, but he still has 2 years to run and an extension isn't a priority. He's looking at potential forward partners from the draft, headlining the clubs re-branding, very much becoming the face of the club, you don't do all of those things if you aren't interested in hanging around.
  17. fair call, but i stand by it, of all the key forwards in this draft, i'd say he's the best below his knees, and very good in the air as well.
  18. Has a very similar way of marking the ball, jumps vertically and uses his height, takes it at the highest point and it makes him super hard to defend, he's also just so mobile, absolutely elite below his knees for a guy his size and a very capable tackler. if it were my choice he'd be coming to the MFC at pick #7
  19. I agree, i think he's right in the mix
  20. That's about what i am hearing as well, huge riskvreward factor there, if it comes off he is the perfect foil for Hogan and potentially a gun forward for 10 years, or it could be a total bust. Harry Mckay imo is a far better option, he will be there at pick 7, Parish and Mckay or Oliver would be great imo
  21. Having watched him live a couple of times this year, his disposal is fine, he is really good in traffic and like alot of younger players is still learning when to hang onto the ball and lower his eyes and when to just go long off one step and get it forward. but he's an animal at the contest, finds space and tackles hard, some similarities to Dom Tyson
  22. It's hard to look at any aspect of the EFC and not feel drained, maybe that explains all the vitamin injections.
  23. Two of, in order of preference Parish Weiderman Mckay Francis Curnow Oliver Maitherson
  24. No doubt the game style will be more attacking under Goodwin, but i think the way they view the game and the way they believe sustained success is built will be very similar, Roos number 1 goal will be to make sure we stay the course once he's gone.
  25. I could see something like Ess: Curnow Ess: Francis GCS: Milera something like that seems possible
