  1. I wish Garry Lyon was removed from the banner, to me he is no legend of the club - never completely in nor completely out. Jim Stynes really had to twist his arm a few years ago to help the club in need and still look at it now. He is nothing more than a once excellent footballer and current media jock. To me the true legends are those that have stood up unconditionally in times of need with their hearts beating "TRUE", such men like Robbie Flower (as shown), Jim Stynes (as shown), and Todd Viney. Anyway that's my take I know I will get grilled for this.
  2. Nice work mate! I really like it, simple yet powerful. Although my only constructive criticism is the demon - I'm not a big fan, but please don't take it in a negative way you definitely have a very cool work in progress (I certainly couldn't do any better). As others have stated, I too don't like the current emblem it is overdone and there is too much confusion with the piece. I also love the old 80's and 90's emblems.
  3. I'm not the one gunning down "Neeld's poor recruiting" the media is and of course my point being is they including Viney did it reasonably well (aside from some stated above). If Tynan and Taggert have been injured this whole time why is it that they have played plenty of games at Casey whilst we have such a "poor list" and they can't crack the side? Better yet on numerous occasions they have been dropped back to the development league in particular Tynan, and the likes of Kent who has come in a year later has played more senior games combined. Neither are of AFL standard and it won't surprise me if they are delisted at the end of the year when they are out of contract (or at most given 1 year extensions with a new coach). As for Clark, if you read my statement correctly I stated he was a trade, although my apologies it was for pick 12 not 13. Although it's bloody idiotic to take into account his lisfranc tear as poor recruiting or a "dud" trade because he landed awkwardly on someones foot in a game of footy having previously kicked 4 goals in the match. In relation to this I think it was a poor decision by Mick Malthouse last weekend to play Marc Murphy in the midfield and around the ball because he got his jaw broken... get a grip mate!
  4. I agree, I think his recruiting was alright. As for the young bloods Hogan looks very impressive, Toumpas I would have then taken at 2 (we got him at 4), Viney F/S he organized the slide post GWS and GC picks, and Kent I think is absolutely brilliant for where he was selected - I like how he isn't afraid to take the game or opponents on - I've said it many times if he didn't get the Bali belly and made the WA side we wouldn't have got him. In regards to Barry I was actually a little disappointed - firstly because I didn't know much about him and he generally didn't rate that highly, and secondly when I heard the Hawks traded for Jed Anderson I was wishing we acquired him instead. As for Matt Jones and Dean Terlich again excellent selections for where we got them. Good ready to go players that make up some depth we desperately need, also at a good age where they will continue to improve and impress. As for the recycled mature age AFL fellas, Dawes has obviously impressed with his leadership and aggression in the forward line, I have also been somewhat impressed by Byrnes - at times when I've seen him with the ball I have instantly said "that looks very Geelong like" in regards to the way he took the game on, he just lacked the players around him in order to dispose the ball efficiently. It appears his leadership and attitude at the club has also been valued. As for Rodan I do think he is a mistake and did when I heard we drafted him, and Pedersen I was actually pleased when we got him although he has failed to live up to his expectations. Neeld's 2011 draft: First things first, lets start by saying it was considered one of the worst drafts in quite some time, it was considered to have a very poor depth that didn't span much further than the top 10 and GWS had already obtained Treloar and Cameron (considered as likely top 3 selections). Neeld used our first pick at 13 in a trade to obtain Mitch Clark, that was probably his best move. He then obtained Taggert, Tynan, and Sellar by which none have really impressed and I honestly can't see them having long AFL careers. Although in relation to that weak draft not many of those later picks from other clubs have really eventuated. EDIT*: Thanks for the reminder of Gillies, obviously a shocker and likely a rushed decision after the loss of Rivers. I wish time was taken to recruit a quality VFL (or equivalent) mature key defender. Overall I think the recruiting the last two years has been pretty good despite 4 odd names, where Neeld has lacked is his development, ability to build good rapport with the players, and to translate training drills and match simulation to game day.
  5. Probably a good paycheck thrown at him for this exclusive interview. I would do the same thing.
  6. I despise this betting garbage in football! I wish it was banned.
  7. I find it difficult to calculate who I would take at pick 1 & 2 if that be the case. Ideally we need mids and we have Hogan coming into the side so with this in mind I would take James Aish and Luke Dunstan. Although I just couldn't pass on Tom Boyd, he and Hogan in the forward line would be amazing, would remind me of the 2004 draft with Hawthorn obtaining Roughead and Franklin. On another side note I am also a big fan of Jack Billings, I really like the way he goes about it. It won't surprize me if he turns out to be that gun player that slides to the later half of the top 10. As for trading any of those early picks I would consider it idiotic. The only two trades available (OOC) that are considered worthy would be Tom Mitchell or Nic Naitanui, but we no neither of those would happen.
  8. Hi all, Does anyone know where we can see the statistics for the NAB U18 championships? Last year I was able to access them through the AFL.com "Match Center", however this year they are not available. Unfortunately its looking like crunching numbers on the U18s will be the only footy related joy I'll get this year, and maybe when the Dons and Pies get knocked-out of the finals. Cheers!
  9. I like this one, I was in the same boat. You would cringe to see the email I sent him at the end of last year
  10. Yeah true I agree with you, it is too early. But I must say I was scratching my head after the first 5 rounds
  11. GOOD CALLS: - The Saints are on their way down. - Recruiting David Rodan is idiotic. - From Sam Newman - Melbourne will finish on the bottom of the ladder (AFL footy show), I am still shocked he was the one to predict/ get that right. BAD CALLS: - Melbourne will win at least 10 games for the season. As stated above, I was also saying something similar. - Jimmy Toumpas over Ollie Wines. DIFFERENT CALL: - Jack Trengove will have a break out year, although my view to this changed when he had his pre-season interrupted.
  12. If these two aren't evaluated I won't know what to think or even do, they deserve their spot on the main list over a good 60% of the players... easily. Couch would have averaged >30 possessions a game, a good amount being contested, has a high tackle rate, high I50 average, and probably the current favorite for the J.J. Liston. Magner's overall statistical averages would be in the same category only slightly lower I believe. If they never eventuate to that stardom category at the AFL level at the very least they would be reliable depth players like a Matt Jones, or Dean Terlich.
  13. That reaction is all I needed , coming from a 23 yr old - that's rich
  14. Your profile pic proves to me your delusional!
  15. Easily Garland, Grimes and Howe. You could also throw in Tom McDonald.
  16. I think Frawley can generally limit him quite well (2-4 broadly speaking), the last few matches I've seen he has always kicked one of those freak goals that look near impossible, other than that chip can usually restrict him quite well from the standard I50 set shots.
  17. Don McL:ardy - President GO!/ CHALLENGE! I am extremely sick of this bloke, nothing more than a lump of lard. I believe the way he went about the sacking of Cameron Schwab said it all for me. The club needs someone with a backbone, while they paid Scwab out his $1M to leave he also got a pat on the back by McLardy in his final press conference. Mark Neeld – Senior Coach SACK! Even-though I find he hasn't actually been able to do his job "to coach" due to lack of player intensity, ultimately he has failed to unite the group and ensure the fundamentals are carried out. His development has been poor and if he remains the club will well and truly go down the gurgler. Tim Harrington – General Manager - List Management NOT SURE! Although I believe he is too soft for a business man. I hope the club poach a well established list manager from another club. Todd Viney - General Manager - Player Development & Strategy KEEP! This bloke keeps standing up and supporting the club during rain, hail (... of sh*t), or shine. Neil Craig - Director Of Sports Performance I'm in two minds and ultimately I don't know enough but one thing I know is he isn't the major problem. Firstly I didn't rate him at Adelaide, I thought he was too structured there and I reckon he has done the same here with Neeld. Although from my limited observations his fitness programs appear excellent and from what I've read he has built a good rapport with players so that is always a positive. Josh Mahoney – Football Manager NOT SURE - Don't know enough to pass judgment. Jade Rawlings – Backline Coach I don't know enough here to pass judgement. With the midfield being so poor it's hard for the defenders to efficiently dispose of the ball due to a lack of decent leads. Although I must note he is nowhere near as good as Sean Wellman who had it purring (unfortunately left to rejoin his old club Essendon). Brian Royal - Midfield Coach SACK! Like a virus, infects anything he touches... and then it turns to sh*t and dies. No more is needed to be said but this guy is a MAJOR problem! Leigh Brown – Forward Line Coach SACK or DEMOTE! Too inexperienced for the position, will be better suited for the Forward line development coach (under Forward line coach). David Misson – Elite Performance Manager KEEP! He worked at Sydney and St.Kilda during their golden eras, he got both teams to Grand Final fitness. I like the way he goes about he seems ultra professional.
  18. Do you find it interesting that Paul Roos says "that I'm hearing Jack Watts is definitely going", I hope he has been considering the coaching position and he has been informed with that. Of course I don't hope for Watts to leave.
  19. Furthermore this is a "JAY CLARK" article, whenever I see his name above one I consider it just as worthy as the scrunched up pieces of paper in my recycling win.
  20. LOL you lost me when I read your title. This idea would sink quicker than the titanic if executed.
  21. I agree with baysidedave. I think sacking Neeld now will only cause greater problems. The club has already lost $1.5m with the sacking of Schwab if they sack Neeld they will need to pay him out too. Wait to the end of the year. Or a few games from if they can get a decent replacement in so we can retain some of the players.
